Muslims have the right to draw the blood of Americans, civilian or military, everywhere in the world

That's a quote that is in this article: Al-Qaeda planning US 'death blow'

"Muslims have the right to draw the blood of Americans, civilian or military, everywhere in the world," Ablaj said.

While President Bush has Muslim leaders in the White House, praising their religion - not a word is heard from those same leaders or anyone, let alone a huge outcry, against those claiming Muslims have a right to draw American blood. It seems as though American Muslims are the ONLY peaceful Muslims in the world, yet they are eerily silent when it comes to condemning the terrorists or at least their stated goal (downfall of the west). Even the Muslims I know, while very friendly and nice, are silent and secret when it comes to their religion. No one is allowed to enter the mosque unless they are a member. And I've never seen a hint of outrage from any of them. Just silence.

When I'm walking down the street and some complete stranger comes up to me, all friendly and talkative, my first instinct is that the guy wants something from me or is up to no good - and I'm always right about it. Money, a ride, or trying to sell something, or worse.

As far as some Muslims I know, I get the feeling that while they don't have any bad intentions themselves, maybe they know of someone who does. Not details, but when you are in a group for a while you get to know what's up. I'm only thinking out loud here but I can see what is going on in the Muslim world outside the borders of the U.S. and it is not good. You can not say that Islam is a religion of peace anywhere else in the world and get away with it (unless you're talking to liberals). Outside the U.S. the Muslim religion is the Religion of Peace the way China is the "People's Republic" and North Korea is the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea," and Satan is an Angel of Light. The reality is the opposite of the title.

It's just a feeling but... It's getting worse.

If I were Muslim I could not in good conscience remain one. I would seperate myself from that name as far as I could. I know what it's like to be a Christian and yet not agree with the doctrines of 99% of the Christian world. But if "Christianity" suddenly started blowing up little kids, I wouldn't even use the same name. If they want to use a name for evil, as I see it, I would be happy to use another name - after all my beliefs are different anyway. What's in a name? God would know what I mean, he understands all languages. No - something is wrong here.

Broken Windows

Since I got back from vacation I have been unable to update some of my 3rd party (non-Microsoft) programs. They would not connect to the internet. I have since traced the problem to the firewall program included in Windows XP. I have had it enabled for a long time, it must have been a critical update that changed the ability of my programs to access the internet (I'm guessing). So if you are having the same problem just disable the Windows firewall. I use ZoneAlarm anyway so I don't need the Windows firewall. I don't see any way to change settings on the firewall either, although there may be.

James Got A Hundred Dollars

The kids each got a card form their Grandmother with a five dollar bill in them. Thanks Mom. James saw it and yelled out "a hundred dollars!" Then he took it down the hall (all the doors were closed except his bedroom) and I went in the kitchen to do something. He came in about 20 seconds later and I asked him where the money was. He says, "I don't know." What do you mean you don't know, you just had it in you hand? What did you do with it? "I don't know."

That was yesterday and it still hasn't turned up and he claims no knowledge of it's whereabouts. Where could it be? I've looked everywhere.

Upside Down and Backwards

Graffiti On History's Walls

Arab terrorists, incredibly, have managed to inspire more sympathy than their victims. The Jews, having experienced the genocide of Europe, today stand accused of perpetrating genocide on the hard ground of the West Bank and Gaza. The vocabulary of the accusations presents the Jews as Nazis and their Arab enemies as helpless Jews. The worst crimes of anti-Semites in the past — racist and ethnic cleansing, attempted genocide, crimes against humanity — are now increasingly ascribed to Jews and to the Jewish state. The argument has become, if you are against Nazism, you must oppose Israel.

In the Muslim world, a culture of hatred of Jews permeates all forms of public communications — newspapers, videocassettes, sermons, books, the Internet, television, and radio. The intensity of the anti-Jewish invective equals or surpasses that of Nazi Germany in its heyday. The public rhetoric combines the blood libel of medieval Christian Europe with cockeyed Nazi conspiracy theories that echo the famous forgery, the "Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion," and the fanciful notion of a Jewish drive for world dominion. Throughout the Islamic world, one finds slanderous quotations about Jews as the sons of apes and donkeys. A leading Saudi newspaper has Jews using the blood of Christian and Muslim children to make their hamantascen pastry for Purim and their matzo, the unleavened bread of Passover. In this fundamentalist religious culture, America and Israel are seen as twin Satanic forces, "The Great Satan" and "The Little Satan," as Iran's religious leader Ayatollah Khomeini used to refer to them.

The insight of Amos Oz, the liberal Israeli writer, is pertinent. He is haunted, he said, by the observation that before the Holocaust, European graffiti read, "Jews to Palestine," while today it has been changed, to "Jews out of Palestine." The message to Jews, Oz says, is simple: "Don't be here, and don't be there. That is, don't be."

Genesis 16:10 Then the Angel of the Lord said to her, "I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude."

11 And the Angel of the Lord said to her: "Behold, you are with child, And you shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, Because the Lord has heard your affliction.

12 He shall be a wild man; His hand shall be against every man, And every man's hand against him. And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren."

15 So Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram named his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael.

Americans don't really care about this so much but the Arabs know who they are.

Genesis 21:2 For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

3 And Abraham called the name of his son who was born to him--whom Sarah bore to him--Isaac

Isaac is the progenitor of Israel and is the younger brother of Ishmael, by a different Mother. There has always been rivalry between the two. BTW, there were (and are) thirteen tribes of Israel (Joseph is counted as two - Ephraim and Manasseh) and modern Israel (the Jews) consists mainly of three: Judah, Levi and Rueben. The rest are lost to the world - they don't know or deny who they are - because they changed God's Sabbath day to one of their own choosing.

The problems we have in the world today have their roots in history we mostly don't care about or deny happened.

The Bible is the most maligned, most twisted, most quoted, most misquoted, most loved, most hated, most popular, most unread, put on a shelf to collect dust, most written about, most mis-interpreted, most looked down on and most worshipped book ever and why is it such a part of the fabric of the American way anyway?

Here is some more reading that has to do with the modern problems of Israel and America and don't deal with or quote the Bible so they are safe reading.

The Jewish conspiracy revealed!

Should America blame itself for the Muslim world's hatred?

Muzzling the wrong dog *Stands out!

Palestinian death cult

It just fascinates me how the world views the Middle Eastern problems, as if they are being actively blinded to the obvious truth that Israel poses no threat to a peaceful Arab world not bent on the destruction of Israel. In fact, the world, and especially the Arab world, is incited against Israel. Of course the Arabs are too far along the path of self-destruction and hatred to turn themselves around now.

Sharpton Calls Dean's Agenda 'Anti-Black'

"Howard Dean's opposition to affirmative action, his current support for the death penalty and historic support of the NRA's [National Rifle Association's] agenda amounts to an anti-black agenda that will not sell in communities of color in this country," Sharpton said in a statement.

None of these has anything to do with being anti-black. Why the NRA? Because an armed citizen might fight back and give the death penalty to someone who thinks the world owes him? If you murder someone you should get the death penalty - hell, if you tried but didn't quite accomplish the task you should get the death penalty. If you use a gun to commit a crime you should get the death penalty. That has nothing to do with race. If you lie under oath to convict an innocent man you should also get the death penalty. It'll never happen, but I can dream.

Speaking of Jesse Jackson Jr. (the son): "Any so-called African American leader that would endorse Dean despite his anti-black record is mortgaging the future of our struggle for civil rights and social justice," Sharpton said.

His statement cited a 1995 interview in which Dean appeared to question the need for affirmative action programs based solely on race. "I think we ought to look at affirmative action programs based not on race but on class," Dean said on CNN's "Late Edition."

Yeah, we need more ways to divide this country - it's not dead yet.

Pigs

Is it true that if a Muslim touches a pig he is not eligible for the 70 virgins in heaven? I've heard that before and I've heard stories about stopping Muslim terrorists by killing them with bullets dipped in pig blood and burying the bodies wrapped in a pig. It sounds so ridiculous I never really believed it and if it were true, why weren't we doing it now? Here's a story about some in Israel wanting to use pigs to guard the settlements: Rabbis back Israeli 'guard pigs'

Could it be that easy? Why do we worry so much about offending people who are hell-bent on killing us?

My most recent long distance bill is 3 cents. The local bill, however, resembles the cable bill - a rip-off.
I'm Entitled

Anne wrote a fascinating post about a customer trying to scam her. I get people like that once in a while. I like the ones who pull a dog-eared folded check from their pocket, no checkbook, sometimes already filled out, and has to sort through a handful of ID's to find the right one. The ones who try to scam you are the ones who get the loudest and rudest - I guess trying to embarrass you into giving them what they want. I've shown a few people to the door and locked them out. I once had someone tell me he was entitled to a tax exemption because he worked for the IRS, he didn't even have a certificate. Nice try.

Heaven or Hell?

From Barna Research Online comes a new study: Americans Describe Their Views About Life After Death

"Although the lifestyles, values, and self-perceptions of most adults have undergone significant change – and millions of Americans have embraced many elements of a postmodern worldview – the vast majority continues to believe that there is life after death, that everyone has a soul, and that Heaven and Hell exist"

We're into 2003 and people still believe in the afterlife?

"Belief in life after death, like the existence of God, is widely embraced: 8 out of 10 Americans (81%) believe in an afterlife of some sort. Another 9% said life after death may exist, but they were not certain. Just one out of every ten adults (10%) contend that there is no form of life after one dies on earth.

Moreover, a large majority of Americans (79%) agreed with the statement “every person has a soul that will live forever, either in God’s presence or absence.”

Only 10% believe there is no life after death, the vast majority of Americans believe we have an immortal soul.

"The survey also explored peoples’ views of Heaven and Hell. In all, 76% believe that Heaven exists, while nearly the same proportion said that there is such a thing as Hell (71%). Respondents were given various descriptions of Heaven and asked to choose the statement that best fits their belief about Heaven. Those who believe in Heaven were divided between describing Heaven as “a state of eternal existence in God’s presence” (46%) and those who said it is “an actual place of rest and reward where souls go after death” (30%). Other Americans claimed that Heaven is just “symbolic” (14%), that there is no such thing as life after death (5%), or that they are not sure (5%).

While there is no dominant view of Hell, two particular perspectives are popular. Four out of ten adults believe that Hell is “a state of eternal separation from God’s presence” (39%) and one-third (32%) says it is “an actual place of torment and suffering where people’s souls go after death.” A third perspective that one in eight adults believe is that “Hell is just a symbol of an unknown bad outcome after death” (13%). Other respondents were “not sure” or said they that they do not believe in an afterlife (16%)."

Most Americans believe in Heaven and hell but they don't agree on what they are. 14% believe Heaven is symbolic - symbolic of what I wonder? The definition of hell is mostly split between an actual place of torment and suffering for people's souls (ouch, do souls have pain receptors?) and a state of eternal seperation from God's presence. I guess that means we're in a temporary hell right now because God is surely seperated from us. Surveys are vague and don't allow explanations but it would be interesting to hear what people actually believe.

"Most Americans do not expect to experience Hell first-hand: just one-half of 1% expect to go to Hell upon their death. Nearly two-thirds of Americans (64%) believe they will go to Heaven. One in 20 adults (5%) claim they will come back as another life form, while the same proportion (5%) contend they will simply cease to exist."

See, only one-half of 1% expect to go to hell when they die. That doesn't really surprise me, people tend to view themselves as basically good regardless of their behavior. It's human nature. Moral relativism is so prevalent now that people also attribute that trait to God.

"One in every four adults (24%) admitted that they have ”no idea” what will happen after they die."

Alright. I can understand that.

"Among those who expect to go to Heaven, there were differences in how they anticipate such an end would be attained. Nearly half of those who say they are Heaven bound (43%) believe they will go to Heaven because they have “confessed their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their savior.” Others felt they will get to Heaven because 'they have tried to obey the 10 Commandments' (15%) or because 'they are basically a good person' (15%). Another 6% believed their entrance to Heaven would be based upon the fact that 'God loves all people and will not let them perish.'”

No agreement there. At least no one said you get to heaven by blowing yourself and as many infidels as possible into ground meat. 6% believe God loves all people and will not let them perish. Does that include Hitler, Stalin and their ilk? I wonder.

"One of the intriguing findings from the research is that education and income are negatively correlated with belief in Heaven and Hell. In other words, the more education a person gets or the more income they earn, the less likely they are to believe that Heaven or Hell exists"

Our educational system is anti-God from the ground up - no surprise there, and if you have an abundance it's easy to forget where it all came from. The less you have the more thankful you are for every penny. I don't know why that's so intriguing though.

"Although a comparison of current beliefs to those held over the past two decades shows that Americans’ views about life after death have been relatively stable over time, new perceptions about the hereafter are being grafted into the traditional perspectives. For instance, nearly 1 in 5 adults (18%) now contends that people are reincarnated after death. And one-third of Americans (34%) believe that it is possible to communicate with others after their death. As evidence that this belief is gaining traction, consider that nearly half (48%) of all Busters (ages 20-38) embrace the concept of communication with the dead, while just 35% of Boomers (39-57) and 15% of Elders (ages 58+) do so."

Belief in communication with the dead is increasing rapidly, maybe from watching TV and movies. I know there has been at least one popular show that has a guy who claims to talk to the dead. I couldn't come up with a name to save my life though.

"George Barna, the president of the company that conducted the research, pointed out that “Americans’ willingness to embrace beliefs that are logically contradictory and their preference for blending different faith views together create unorthodox religious viewpoints.” For instance, he noted that among born again Christians - who believe that they will experience eternal existence in Heaven solely because they have confessed their sins to God and are depending upon Jesus Christ to spare them from eternal punishment or rejection - 10% believe that people are reincarnated after death, 29% claim it is possible to communicate with the dead, and 50% contend that a person can earn salvation based upon good works.

“Many committed born again Christians believe that people have multiple options for gaining entry to Heaven. They are saying, in essence, ‘Personally, I am trusting Jesus Christ as my means of gaining God’s permanent favor and a place in Heaven – but someone else could get to Heaven based upon living an exemplary life.’ Millions of Americans have redefined grace to mean that God is so eager to save people from Hell that He will change His nature and universal principles for their individual benefit. It is astounding how many people develop their faith according to their feelings or cultural assumptions rather than biblical teachings.”
Emphasis mine.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.

"Half of all atheists and agnostics say that every person has a soul, that Heaven and Hell exist, and that there is life after death. One out of every eight atheists and agnostics even believe that accepting Jesus Christ as savior probably makes life after death possible. These contradictions are further evidence that many Americans adopt simplistic views of life and the afterlife based upon ideas drawn from disparate sources, such as movies, music and novels, without carefully considering those beliefs."

They are right on the money there.

God says in Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Genesis 3:19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return."

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

On the one hand is death and on the other eternal life. Death obviously doesn't mean eternal life in hell in that context. Death is the opposite of life. Cessation of being.

Sidenote: 1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

This is interesting: John 3:13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.

Jesus said no man has ascended to heaven except Jesus Himself.

Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing, And they have no more reward, For the memory of them is forgotten.

John 11:11 These things He said, and after that He said to them, "Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up." 12 Then His disciples said, "Lord, if he sleeps he will get well." 13 However, Jesus spoke of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about taking rest in sleep. 14 Then Jesus said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead.

The Bible speaks of the dead as knowing nothing and describes the state of the dead as sleeping. But why sleeping if they are dead? Will they awaken?

Job 32:8 But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

1 Corinthians 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

God put in man a spirit essence which gives us awareness and understanding far beyond any other animal but is not conscious in and of itself. In addition, the spirit of God must be added to the human spirit in order to understand God and His ways. Further reading about death and eternal life, Heaven and hell, the Bible, Jesus or the Gospel (Gospel means plainly "Good News, " don't let the religiosity of the term fool you) can be found by clicking the links. Hard copies of most of them are available completely free of charge or begging here. Don't believe me and don't believe anyone - believe your Bible.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Oh, it was Satan who said: Genesis 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Mixing truth and lie, you shall not surely die right now, but you will be under penalty of the law - death - living dead - and oh, what a wonderful world it would be if we didn't "know evil."

It Is a Zionist Plot

"During September 2003, mass hysteria spread through Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, which was ultimately quelled by police intervention and statements made by the health minister. The panic was caused by rumors of foreigners roaming the city and shaking men's hands, making their penises disappear."

Oh Really.

"While the majority of accounts involved handshaking, another victim, who refused to give his name, said that while he was at the market, a man approached him, gave him a comb, and asked him to comb his hair. When he did so, within seconds, he said, he felt a strange sensation and discovered that he had lost his penis."

"Focusing on the report of the Sudanese man who lost his penis after contact with a comb, Abbas wrote: "No doubt, this comb was a laser-controlled surgical robot that penetrates the skull [and passes] to the lower body and emasculates a man!!"

Of Course, What else could it be? Abbas is just way too smart for those Jews. Who do they think they're dealing with anyway?

"In conclusion Abbas wrote: "That man, who, as it is claimed, is from West Africa, is an imperialist Zionist agent that was sent to prevent our people from procreating and multiplying…"

Watch out you penis-stealing Jews, the Sudanese are on to you!

Charities in the U.S. are sending shipments of tin-foil hats and jock-straps to protect the Sudanese.

The Star-Spangled Banner

The Pledge of Allegiance has been under fire because of the words "under God." We have "In God We Trust" on our money. Our founding Fathers mention God over and over. I recently learned that God is also mentioned in our National Anthem. Take a look, read through the second part, the part nobody sings.

The United States is such a different country now than when it was founded. People today are embarrassed to mention God, if they believe in Him at all. In fact, it is considered the "educated" view that God doesn't exist, if you believe in a "man in the sky" you are equated with people who believe the Earth is flat. The U.S. has moved far away from God. The constitution is being undermined and becoming irrelevant, slowly but surely. Our judges look to the opinions of foreign nations to decide cases. We are a different people in so many ways. We are morally and spiritually weaker. Our foundation is cracking. We are giving our freedom away. Even those who still believe in God don't do what He says, don't really want to know. They change His Word to fit their lifestyle, creating an image of god that fits them, that makes them feel good. The following verses are so relevant today, it's like God speaking to the United States of America.

Isaiah 30:8 Now go, write it before them on a tablet, And note it on a scroll, That it may be for time to come, Forever and ever: 9 That this is a rebellious people, Lying children, Children who will not hear the law of the Lord; 10 Who say to the seers, "Do not see," And to the prophets, "Do not prophesy to us right things; Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits. 11 Get out of the way, Turn aside from the path, Cause the Holy One of Israel To cease from before us." 12 Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel: "Because you despise this word, And trust in oppression and perversity, And rely on them, 13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you Like a breach ready to fall, A bulge in a high wall, Whose breaking comes suddenly, in an instant. 14 And He shall break it like the breaking of the potter's vessel, Which is broken in pieces; He shall not spare. So there shall not be found among its fragments A shard to take fire from the hearth, Or to take water from the cistern." 15 For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: "In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength." But you would not, 16 And you said, "No, for we will flee on horses"-- Therefore you shall flee! And, "We will ride on swift horses"-- Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift! 17 One thousand shall flee at the threat of one, At the threat of five you shall flee, Till you are left as a pole on top of a mountain And as a banner on a hill.

It's coming true right before your eyes.

Am I Ofoto Cursed?

I tried to upload photos from my Windows computer and it kept saying "server error." I've never had a problem before. I even tried reinstalling the software - no help. I have close to 50 photos to put up and I was able to get 25 loaded by uploading directly from Ofoto but the second batch failed just like it had been doing on the Mac. I'll try again tomorrow.

Vegging Out

Terry Schiavo is at the center of another deep division among the American people. I was not aware that her condition was brought on by heart failure, I thought she had an accident. When I still lived in New Jersey I had a friend whose parents were killed in a car accident and his little sister was brain damaged in much the same way Terry is. I went with him to visit her and it was a very sad situation. He was determined to do what he could for her. It was obvious there was someone in there somewhere but how can you tell how much awareness there is, if any. She could move a little but I think she was worse than Terri. I'm sorry to say I lost touch with Steve and I don't know what has happened since.

That was still his sister and he spent alot of time there to be with her and talk to her. Could she hear and understand? We didn't know. I know there are herpatologists who have been bitten by certain venomous snakes who have had very bizarre experiences because of the effect on their central nervous system. They were completely unable to move, in some instances their bodies were seemingly shut down, no respiration, and they were considered dead by doctors yet they were completely aware of everything going on around them and could hear and understand as doctors pronounced them dead. In one case I remember the nurse became aware of the man still being alive because she noticed a tear in his eye. Is it possible that Terry is similarly aware but unable to communicate it? I don't know and I doubt even the Doctors really know for sure, regardless of what they say.

At any rate, you're still dealing with a human being and not a vegetable. They would put you in jail if you starved your dog or cat. I just think it's pretty cold to starve her to death. They treat mass murderers with more respect. Timothy McVeigh got better treatment. Even the Al Quada members we've caught are better treated.

This situation is a big mess now and I don't know how it will play out but there are alot of bitter feelings about this on both sides. A little civil war.

Home Again

We got home Saturday night around 9:30pm. I had to go to work and I was tired, I went a whole week actually getting some sleep, it's tough getting back to work. While I was gone they broke the old Micros computer we use and no one could fix it so they did all the business by hand and just wrote everything down - luckily it happened the night before. I had to fix the Micros, recreate everything they did since it was broke, and do two audits. Not extremely difficult, just not something I wanted to spend my first night back doing.

Sunday I had to change the coolant in Irma's car. I did it after I woke up around 1:30pm - no problems. The lawn didn't need to be mowed and I am very thankful for that. I didn't even want to wake up but Irma had the A/C off and the windows open and it got too hot to sleep. I hate it when that happens. I need a day job.

7th Day Panama City Beach

Still here, still having a good time. I intended to update daily while here but the connection at the hotel is unreliable and excruciatingly slow. I haven't even checked my e-mail and I know I have a couple of important e-mails to return. Oh well, that's life.

James has been swimming every day and he never gets tired of it. After I finally make him come in he takes a bath and doesn't want to get out of there either. I have pictures but can't upload them to Ofoto until I get home. I'll put a few small ones here though.

2nd Day FOT - Panama City Beach

Today there was a Shriners parade down Front Beach Rd - the main drag. It was in the morning as we were about to leave for services so we had to wait until it went by. The kids loved it, they had a lot of little go-carts that were sliding all over and some other funny cars. It was slightly raining - a heavy mist. We weren't late though.

At services there was a young girl with dark hair and she was wearing a nice long, black leather jacket. I was carrying James and we went by her as she was sitting with her friend - James blurts out "Hey, there's cat woman!" I was a little embarrassed but it was so funny and I'm not really sure if she got what he was talking about. Later we walked by her again and he tried to tell her he was Robin. I just kept walking.

James met another little friend named Lizzie and all he wanted to do was play with her. We were at the second services for the day when he finally fell asleep. She came over to see him after it was over and tried to wake him but he was out. I was surprised he didn't wake up, she was really trying. After she left he woke up and was mad because he didn't get to see her. You snooze, you lose.

That's it, I'm gonna transfer some pictures and go to bed.

Panama City Beach

Left St. Cloud about 9am and arrived Panama City Beach around 4:30 local time (5:30 Eastern). A long drive. We ate at the American diner and I took the kids down to the beach to play in the water a little. It was dark by that time and the beach is eerie. It's so dark out over the gulf, it was overcast and there was a light mist. The kids had a great time and now I'm trying to get them to go to sleep.
Not An Attack

It's amazing how often what's originally reported bears no resemblence to the truth.

Siegfried: Tiger wanted to help Roy

The tiger was trying to protect him

It sounds very logical to me. If a tiger wanted to kill a man it would only take a fraction of a second once your neck was in it's jaws.

Pound for pound, man is the absolute weakest animal on the planet by a large margin. If not for our minds we could hardly survive, we just aren't naturally equipped to dominate this world, we only do so through the power of our creativity. It's really pretty amazing how different we are, regardless of genetic similarities.

Flawless

Now that's a diamond.

Work

I'm getting a bit more comfortable at work now. I will be leaving the doors locked all night from now on though. It will piss off some guests but that's life in this day and age. You would be surprised how traumatic it is to experience a robbery like that even though on an intellectual level you fully understand it's over, everything is OK, and everyone who comes to the door is not here to hurt you.

Here's nearest I can describe it ... I'm afraid of heights. I know I shouldn't be, but even in situations when I know I am perfectly safe my body reacts to the fear. I have forced myself to try to overcome it, I've been to the top of the World Trade Center but I couldn't make it up the Statue of Liberty. I visited a lighthouse here in Florida when my father visited me. I was going up there come hell or high water. Even though I knew there was no danger as I started up I slowly started to become paralyzed with fear. All the while fully realizing I was OK. When I got to the top I could hardly walk. I forced myself to go outside and walk around the lighthouse, to enjoy the view, but I could hardly get away from the inside wall. It's so ridiculous to feel that way because it's a large flat deck and there is no danger, even if I fell it would be like falling on the ground outside - I know that, and I know that I know that, but somehow it is not communicated to my body.

The difference is it's not fear as much as anger, at least on the surface. I'm not afraid to be here but I really don't want it to happen again. I'm not gonna let it happen again.

And I just broke my own rule for two elderly couples who had a reservation for a late check in.

Vacation

I leave for Panama City Beach in the morning when I get off work for the Feast of Tabernacles. I'll be bringing the computer so I'll continue to update throughout the week. I'll be taking Joshua and James but Irma will stay home. She's taking her vacation next month to go to Puerto Rico with the kids. I know that sounds weird but it's alright. It's just the way it has to be this year. I'm glad to be getting away from work for a little while. I need to relax.

Naked James

I mowed the lawn Thursday and let James play outside while I did. He loves being outside. He climbed on my car for a while, dug a hole and tried to get the horses to come play with him. He met one of our neighbors dogs when she was walking it. It's a schnauzer like Max was and his name is shorty. After a little while I lost sight of him so I started looking in the usual places and found him naked, playing with the garden hose. He's done that before but it wasn't nearly as hot today (80's) as it was when he did it before. I was just about done so it was time for him to go in at that point. He wanted juice. He changed his favorite juice from Orange, strawberry, banana to Pineapple, orange, banana. It tastes good.

A Couple of Things

I have always liked Elton John but not anymore ... he's an idiot.

Exploding cell phone? What's that all about?

Dennis Prager: Only those with beliefs can defeat those with beliefs. A good one.
Fun Night

The hotel was robbed tonight. No one was hurt, including, unfortunately, the robbers. They didn't get much. Mostly, the people who will be hurt by this are future customers who want to check in when I am here. I'll be locking the doors when I arrive. People will not be coming in to get brochures, coffee, or use the microwave. Sorry, I'm not leaving the door open. The lobby is closed.

The police are really no help. They make you fill out some forms and leave a mess to clean up after dusting for fingerprints. He told me to keep the door locked and call them anytime I'm not comfortable with someone. That's not really practical.

I'm not really sure what I'm going to do. I don't want to lock everyone out but invariably, when I open the door for someone another person will pop up right behind wanting to be let in. Some people are obviously not a threat but for many you just can't tell.

Perhaps it's time to leave this job. I worked at another hotel years ago and got robbed. They kept coming back at different times. They even came back when I was there once but I had the door locked. The police, again, were no help. They try but they are at a disadvantage to begin with. The owner of the hotel hired an armed off-duty policeman to guard the property and I stopped by and talked with him while he was working with my relief and it quickly became obvious that if the robbers came back while he was there he would become a victim too because he is not gonna have time to get his gun out without being shot first by the guys already pointing guns at him. Surely if I were a robber I wouldn't let him get to his gun and I would assume he had one.

I know one thing, anyone using a gun to commit a crime needs the death penalty. Period. No anger, no hate, no revenge. Just something that needs to be done - take them out of society permanently - so the rest of us can live in peace.

Daddy Daycare

There were alot of commentaries I found to link to tonight and although I agree with them, and I'm especially talking about some supporting Rush Limbaugh, I'm ashamed that we have to explain 1st ammendment rights to, presumably, mature adults who were born and raised in this country. So, if we are going to teach our children the garbage that passes for education today I figured we might as well start them off on the right foot ... here's my idea:

Sounded Like Hail

"At first, D'Agata thought the thumping noise he and his wife heard on the back deck Sept. 19 was hail. But when he went outside to take a look, D'Agata discovered tiny, gelatinous eggs with dark spots in the middle."

I don't know what to make of this story. Hail is hard, it's ice, it can dent metal and break glass in larger sizes and even when smaller has a pretty distictive sound. Frog eggs are soft and gelatinous. Since it was, presumably, raining at the time, possibly pretty hard, how hard would something so soft have to hit in order to hear it over the rain, especially to sound like hail? And if it hit that hard why didn't they just splatter into an unrecognizable mess? What would happen to a ball of Jello if you through it at the floor?

I don't doubt frog eggs could be carried by a storm, it just sound kind of weird that he actually heard them come down.

Logic

A fourth-grade teacher was giving her pupils a lesson in logic.

"Here's the situation," she said.

"A man is standing up in a boat in the middle of a river, fishing. He loses his balance, falls in, and begins splashing and yelling for help.

His wife hears the commotion, knows he can't swim, and runs down to the bank. Why do you think she ran to the bank?"

A little girl raised her hand and asked, "To draw out all his savings?"
My Poor Mailbox

When James and I woke from our nap I looked outside and saw my mailbox was gone. I went out to investigate and the mailbox post was ripped out and laying on the ground, the mailbox itself laying about 10 feet away in the drainage ditch. There is a big chunk taken out of the wood too.

What the hell is going on with my mailbox? I've lived here 6, maybe 7 years and never had any problems until this year, when it's been knocked down twice so far. I think I know who did it, but I don't have any proof. The Avon delivery truck stopped by and left a box. I saw him pulling out of the driveway but I didn't watch him all the way. No one was working across the street, so it wasn't them. Luckily it only cost me $5.00 to fix this time, the mailbox wasn't crushed like last time.
A Marvel

Everyone should read this great essay by Bill Whittle: Power

"I will grant that from abroad, the prospect of this much American Power is intimidating and worrisome. But how much of this angst, I wonder, has to do with the internal temptations they feel at the prospect of such power at their own command?"

There is something seriously wrong with the justice system in this country. Our judges have no wisdom, they don't understand our constitution and it's obvious they don't have the best interest of this country at heart. Reading comprehension is foreign to them or they are dishonest. Like doctors, they are no longer deserving of respect based on their position. "Your Honor" is a joke. This link is just the latest to illustrate their foolishness.

Bald Eagles

After picking up Joshua from school we went to Walmart and after getting out of the car I heard an unusual, piercing bird call. I looked around and saw a couple of large birds flying towards us and as they got closer I realized they were Bald Eagles. James was impressed, he seemed excited to be seeing them (more than usual, he loves birds) and that has me wondering if it was the birds (did he see something special about them?) or was it just because of my reaction? They really are something though.
I Got Your Free Speech Right Here!

One person makes a "shocking" comment which, when you really think about it, wasn't so bad. I think what these people hear is; blah, blah, blah, blah, blacks are inferior, blah, blah, blah. What he said was:

""I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well,'' Limbaugh said. "There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."

I don't follow sports at all but even I have read on occasion the complaint that there are not enough black quarterbacks and black coaches/managment. Is it too much to think some people might want McNabb to do well because of that? You know there are people who are rooting for this guy for just that reason. And who cares? I would hope he does well too, so what? Is it really so terrible to have the opinion that the defense carried the team? How many blacks are on the defense? Over 50%? More? This whole thing is about one thing only - get Rush Limbaugh. Anything to shut him up.

"Democratic presidential candidates Wesley Clark, Howard Dean and Rev. Al Sharpton called for ESPN to fire Limbaugh, a conservative talk-show host. Others in the political and athletic circles also lashed out at Limbaugh's comments."

Rush Limbaugh is not allowed to hold that opinion because he's a conservative.

Limbaugh resigns from NFL show

And then we have the guy who wants to wear a t-shirt to high school with a picture of President Bush and the words "International Terrorist." The school told him to take it off or go home. He sued.

"But, the judge said, "The record does not reveal any basis for (the assistant principal's) fear aside from his belief that the T-shirt conveyed an unpopular political message."

So, just because the message is unpopular is no reason to prevent the student from wearing the shirt. Hmmm. Even though you can't intelligently make any comparison between George Bush and a terrorist. If you think you can you need to get back on your meds.

Student May Wear Bush 'Terrorist' Shirt

PS: I was just watching some interviews on ESPN and it is very clear the people who were calling for Rush to be fired believe Rush was saying that blacks are not as good as whites. My guess is they didn't even hear or read what he said (What else is new?). Anyone who payed a little attention in english class could discern that he said nothing of the sort.

Someone just said "to say that someone would want a quarterback to do well because he is black is ludicrous." That statement is ludicrous. What about Tiger Woods? No one is proud of him because he is dark skinned and kicking ass in a sport not previously known for black athletes.

This past week the news has been making me ill. I can't watch but for a few minutes just to see if anything new is happening. Of course, every time I tune in it's to the same non-news over and over. Why wasn't it news when Clinton gave China secret semi-conductor tehnology that enables them to have nuclear weapons aimed at US cities at this very moment? You think they'll never use them?

I Wanna See That Movie

Yesterday I was sitting with James and a commercial came on for Jack Black's new movie, School of Rock. He started laughing at Jack and said "He's funny, I wanna see that movie. --- James, you're 3 years old!
