One Tough Laptop
The Tiger-Resistant Laptop
You might think this is unnecessary testing for a laptop. Advertising is always brimming with over-the-top claims. We've heard about "durable" notebooks before. But the ones we lug to press conferences seem to be as touchy as a bunch of squirrels. Surely, Panasonic's claims of toughness are, well, over-the-top.
Video goodness
You have to see that. Incredible.
He Is On the Wrong Side of Every Issue
Obama says coup in Honduras is illegal
U.S. President Barack Obama said on Monday the coup that ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya was illegal and would set a "terrible precedent" of transition by military force unless it was reversed.
A "Terrible precedent?" Why, because he's afraid it could happen to him?
Zelaya was violating his country’s constitution with his referendum that would have, Chavez-style, repealed term limits on the presidency. The Honduras Supreme Court ruled the referendum illegal, and the military refused to distribute the ballots. Instead of backing down, Zelaya fired the head of the military, which precipitated the ouster.
Clearly, democracies cannot abide armed overthrow of elected governments, but that presumes that the government acts within the rule of law. Zelaya had no intention of doing so, and his flagrant violations and attempt to accrue personal power made that crystal clear. Zelaya had begun seizing dictatorial powers, and the military responded by arresting him. The military then handed power back to the legislature rather than keeping it for themselves, which makes this less of a coup and more of a military impeachment.
The President, Congress, and many judges have been playing fast and loose with the U.S. Constitution for years now and this present administration has taken that to an unprecedented level in this country. As more and more Americans start feeling the bars of socialism closing in on them I find it hard to believe they will not rise up and throw off the chains. Hard to believe, but not impossible. :-(
It was not a coup, it was the people of Honduras upholding their constitution.

It Already Passed the House
Our Democratic Socialist Party
"Cap and trade" is a euphemism for limiting the quantity of energy an entity may use. If government controls what comes out of the pipe, it automatically controls what goes into the pipe. By setting an arbitrary limit on emissions at a level known to be less than is required by the business, and then arbitrarily setting a price for excess emissions, a business must either reduce its operations or pay the government-mandated extra costs. Regardless of how it may be described, any government-mandated cost is a tax. Therefore, any "cap and trade" program is, in reality, a "cap and tax" program.
This program is designed to give government the power and the mechanism to increase the cost of energy produced by fossil fuel to a price higher than the cost of energy produced by wind and solar sources. This agenda item will give government the power to essentially control the economy, by controlling the supply and price of energy that runs the economy. It will also give government the appearance of protecting the environment, which is a sop to environmental organizations and to the international community. And it will extract windfall taxes to allow government to redistribute America's wealth to achieve the social equity goals of the Democratic socialist majority.
'Cap and trade' your freedom
"Cap and trade" is not a solution to climate change. It is a prescription for taking America down as a world power, as a free nation and as the most prosperous country on the planet.
This is sad. A once proud nation cutting itself off at the knees, and the American people are hypnotized and can't pull themselves away from their own little worlds long enough to notice. I guess we do get the government we deserve. And now we'll have to pay for it.
Minority Leader John Boehner: Climate bill a 'pile of s--t'
When asked why he read portions of the cap-and-trade bill on the floor Friday night, Boehner told The Hill, "Hey, people deserve to know what's in this pile of s--t."
Why don't they ask the rest of them why they passed another bill without reading it?

Fail!
Peggy Noonan says Obama's one sentence description of his presidency should be:
"He brought America back from economic collapse and kept us strong and secure in the age of terror."
And I agree, it should be, but Obama is not on the same page. He's not even in the same book.
Soylent Green
Obama's Health Future
"Look, the first thing for all of us to understand that is we actually have some -- some choices to make about how we want to deal with our own end-of-life care," Mr. Obama replied. After discussing ways "we as a culture and as a society [can start] to make better decisions within our own families and for ourselves," he continued that in general "at least we can let doctors know and your mom know that, you know what? Maybe this isn't going to help. Maybe you're better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller." --President Obama
Retirement age may yet take on a whole new meaning, we can call it "going home."
I know it's completely ridiculous to be comparing the movie, Soylent Green, to the direction the country is taking but then again, it seems to actually be the direction the country is taking. I think the left gets their ideas from movies like this. I can't yet see the whole eating people thing happening - give it time - but assisted suicide is here, it's just a matter of building the euthanasia centers. Hey, maybe you're better off taking the "painkiller."
When will America wake up?
Congratulations Orlando
You made number 22 in the Most Dangerous Neighborhoods in the U.S.
To be fair, it's only one neighborhood in Orlando but trust me, it spreads out from the center. Tampa and Miami are 17 and 3 respectively.
All are Equal, but Some are More Equal than Others
Well, I think it’s worth making, because if you look at Canada, for example, everyone in Canada is supposed to have the same access to health care. In other words, there should be no difference if Joe Schmo gets a problem, and he has to get on the three year waiting list, and a cabinet minister gets the same health problem, he’s supposed to be on the same three year waiting list. In the end, those cabinet ministers manage to access a special…basically, cabinet ministers and hockey players seem able to access a special level of care up there that nobody else can get. -- Mark Steyn, radio transcript
It will be different in the U.S., right? If you think so, you're a sucker.
"Never give a sucker an even break." --W.C. Fields
Politicians take that to heart. Yes, Obama does, too. They see a whole lot of suckers right now, and they're salivating - they can't wait to pass cap and trade and health care. They see a nice, thick, juicy steak, and you're paying.

Power Hungry Megalomaniacs Need Your Money
The Cap and Tax Fiction
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has put cap-and-trade legislation on a forced march through the House, and the bill may get a full vote as early as Friday. It looks as if the Democrats will have to destroy the discipline of economics to get it done.
Despite House Energy and Commerce Chairman Henry Waxman's many payoffs to Members, rural and Blue Dog Democrats remain wary of voting for a bill that will impose crushing costs on their home-district businesses and consumers. The leadership's solution to this problem is to simply claim the bill defies the laws of economics.
If this passes it is going to hurt your wallet - big time. When they say it won't, they are lying. This will bury us.
Even as Democrats have promised that this cap-and-trade legislation won't pinch wallets, behind the scenes they've acknowledged the energy price tsunami that is coming. During the brief few days in which the bill was debated in the House Energy Committee, Republicans offered three amendments: one to suspend the program if gas hit $5 a gallon; one to suspend the program if electricity prices rose 10% over 2009; and one to suspend the program if unemployment rates hit 15%. Democrats defeated all of them.
Oh, and it won't help the environment either. That's a lie as well. Think ethanol.
Freedom Come To ALL Nation
Someone wrote that on a fence at the start of the video.
The people are clamoring for freedom in all nations, Iran now being the most obvious example. Why are we, whose constitution recognizes our inherent right to freedom and limits our government to protect our freedom, so eager to give it all away for a mirage? An illusion?
You want free health care? Your going to lose your freedom and still not get the health care you expected. Freedom doesn't mean you get things for free. There is always a cost.
You want to save the Earth? You think giving megalomaniacs power over you will accomplish that? They will do more damage in the name of saving the Earth than you could ever imagine. They don't really know what they are doing. It's a scam. They are fooling you. Cap and trade will make them rich, rich with money and rich with power - OVER YOU.
That's how evil works, it promises everything, delivers nothing and leaves you empty. Make no mistake, evil is rising up and trying to subdue the world once more. They're coming for you.
Don't Let Them Fool You
The "Global Warming Crisis," AKA "Climate Change," is also an illusion, albeit for more nefarious purposes.
Because this plot is not about saving you from higher temperatures. It's about empowering themselves at your expense.
They're coming for you, for your money, your freedom, your spirit, your soul. They're coming, and they will tell you everything you want to hear to get what they want. It's a trap. Don't fall for it.
You are Getting Sleepy
Cool optical illusion.
Do you see the blue and the green?
There's no blue in the picture. Explanation.

Money for Nothing
Checks for free
Hundreds of New York City public school teachers accused of offenses ranging from insubordination to sexual misconduct are being paid their full salaries to sit around all day playing Scrabble, surfing the Internet or just staring at the wall, if that’s what they want to do.
Obama Knows Suppression of Ideas
It took Barack Obama some time to offer encouragement to the people of Iran as they rose up against their illegitimate and repressive rules.
And when he finally did, he said something interesting: "Suppressing ideas never succeeds in making them go away."
Maybe Obama should take his own advice. Maybe he should learn from his own rare words of wisdom.
The Obama administration is marked by suppressing ideas.
That's what it does when it attacks lively and open debate on talk radio.
That's what it does when it sees one cable news network even daring to offer the mildest criticism of his administration mixed in with plenty of Obamamania.
That's what it does when it summarily fires independent government watchdogs hired specifically to ferret out fraud, waste, abuse and corruption inside the administration.

A Confused Nation
Who's Regulating Obama?
People that voted Obama who are getting upset but they don't understand what he's doing. They misunderstand totally. They were expecting Obama to throw shovels of money at them. Instead, they think he's bailing out Wall Street and big business. They think he's just another typical Washington Republican Democrat conglomerate politician who cares about big business. They don't see what he's doing to big business. They don't see that he's destroying future job opportunities, creativity, competition. They don't see the destruction the man is wreaking. They see him playing favorites, and they thought they were going to be the favorites, and now they're not. That's why they're upset.
He's not helping business any, and he's sure not helping the little guy who voted for him thinking it was going to be payback time. He's paying back all his cronies right now and when they are done there won't be anything left for anyone.

Great Read!
Why do liberals bleed?
I heard a philosopher once say that one of the biggest existential tasks of life is giving up the fantasy of the ultimate rescuer. Liberalism reinforced this fantasy for me, as it does for so many others. Now I see the truth: We come into this world alone, and we will leave it alone. When we live our lives in the back seat of the car expecting Daddy to drive us, we only have a child's view of the world.
A Harsh Awakening
Why socialism makes rights dispensable by Alan Keyes
Though I think few of Obama's supporters realized and intended it, the Obama faction's ambitious socialist transformation requires the abandonment of the basic concepts of rights and of limitations on government abuse that at least allowed individuals the opportunity to make a stand against abusive power. Once the transformation has taken place, all will come to know what it means to be stripped of the safeguards we have been able to take for granted. It will be a harsh awakening, and too late.
Another Mom of the Year
And Grandmother, too.
Queens mom performed voodoo fire ritual that left daughter, 6, scarred
While young Frantzcia Saintil was "engulfed in flames," Marie Lauradin let the screaming girl burn, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said Thursday.
The girl told cops "the flames crawled up her body and burned her," the criminal complaint said.
Eventually, Frantzcia's grandmother doused the flames with cold water, but the women then put the girl to bed instead of getting her help, Brown said.
Frantzcia suffered for a whole day before a relative begged them to take her to a hospital.
When doctors finally saw her, Frantzcia had second- and third-degree burns covering 25% of her body, including her face, torso and legs, court papers state.
Empty Airport Sucks Up Stimulus
It's interesting how they say it is courtesy of John Murtha. Murtha didn't pay for all those improvements - YOU did. Murtha stole the money from you via the federal government. The people that benefited from the Gambino or Gotti crime family thought they were great guys, too. Our government has become the biggest crime family in America.

Please Read the Letter
This is important, this is good. This is how I feel, too.
I'm a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you're willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me?
Read the rest here. Or watch it:
This, because I like it:
The Silence is Deafening
Remember all the hoopla about President Bush trampling our constitutional rights with wire-tapping? See here and here to refresh your memory.
Now King Obama rules as if the constitution didn't even exist, completely circumventing the checks and balances written into it, taking upon himself powers that were never meant for the presidency, firing and/or demonizing all who oppose him, and where is the media in all this?
Under his thumb.
Mother of the Year (Real)
Mother fought off cougar to save toddler from attack
"All of a sudden it just flew on her, rolled her a couple of times and grabbed her under its belly on the ground like in the fetal position," Lee recalled.
"She [Maya] was on her back and he had his paws in her head, and I just knew I had to react quick, so I just jumped in there and wedged myself between the cougar and her on the ground, and I just got up and threw it off my back and grabbed her and booked it," she said.

The Stupidist Generation
First 'anti-stab' knife to go on sale in Britain.
The human brain is devolving. Seriously. This generation is much dumber than previous generations, despite a mind-boggling increase in the availability of knowledge. Let's just take the first thing that pops into my mind when I see the picture - it will slice quite nicely. Daniel Pearl wasn't stabbed to death. But wait, there's more. Much more.
Frank has some more reasons this is stupid.
This Will Come as a Complete Shock - NOT!
Study: Politicians share personality traits with serial killers
Yup. Violent homicide aside, our elected officials often show many of the exact same character traits as criminal nut-jobs, who run from police but not for office.
Kouri notes that these criminals are psychologically capable of committing their dirty deeds free of any concern for social, moral or legal consequences and with absolutely no remorse.
"This allows them to do what they want, whenever they want," he wrote. "Ironically, these same traits exist in men and women who are drawn to high-profile and powerful positions in society including political officeholders."
Again, our Founding Fathers were light-years smarter than the modern "intellectual" in limiting the powers of our elected officials. They are throwing away that wisdom, trashing the Constitution and putting too much power into the hands of too few power hungry politicians. The result will be devastating.

The Never-Ending Assault on Freedom
I was just looking at table full of knives the other day that I never would have thought anyone would consider banning, but every knife on that table would be banned by this baloney. What's the purpose of this? Our government is quickly becoming the enemy of it's own people.

The King
Barack H. Obama: Administrator by Henry Lamb
Obama is creating a system of government that is beginning to look much like an "Administrator" form of government that will ultimately have no checks and balances, and little need for legislators.
I think this is important to read and think about, it does seem like what he's doing.
What's going on sorta reminds me of ancient Israel when they insisted they have a king rule over them (like the other nations) instead of God. They got what they wanted (and so, it seems, are we) and it was all downhill from there.

Beware of Wolves in Sheeps Clothing
House Health-Care Bill to Include $600 Billion in Tax Increases
Asked whether the cost of a health-care overhaul would be more than $1 trillion, Rangel said, "the answer is yes."
That's only the beginning. It always cost more than they will admit to. Always.
The Public Plan Deception
We cannot afford this on any level. They are shutting down the financial engine of the country as we speak, saddling the American people with debt at record levels, and indebting us to hostile foreign nations which will use that leverage to further weaken us. They're killing us, and that's all BEFORE the health-care overhaul - which we don't even need. We need to get government out of the health care business.
We can't afford it, not we can't afford not to. Obama thinks he's selling timeshares.

Tragic Wednesday
Great post by Dana Loesch: White Supremacist Kills Holocaust Museum Guard; Conservatives Get the Blame?
She also touches on Shepard Smith bashing conservatives during his coverage of the shooting. I saw that today and thought about why he doesn't go work for CNN. It's not the first time he's said something that didn't sit right with me. I don't watch him much, not if I have a choice - he was covering the unfolding events Wednesday.
Dana also links this post about this shooting taking place in a gun-free zone.
The shooter violated a number of laws - as a felon, he wasn't supposed to be able to buy a gun, wasn't allowed to own one, wasn't allowed to bring it into the museum and, oh yeah, it's against the law to murder someone. I guess adding a few more laws for him to ignore would have done the trick? Laws don't stop criminals, even if all the guns were gone, the criminal would kill with something else - a knife, a bomb, a homemade gun, a chainsaw, poison - the possibilities are endless.
Nothing is 100% but the only thing that stops most of this sort of thing is the criminal knowing he will be met with deadly force by

Oh Really, I Hadn't Noticed
Rush Limbaugh: Obama destroying U.S. economy
"Ladies and gentlemen, there can be no other way to say this now. The gloves have to come off. It's time for people to sober up. The president of the United States, Barack Obama, is destroying the United States economy. There is no other way to describe this, systematically destroying it," he said.
Anyone with half a brain, and paying attention, is aware of this. Why so many are going, lemming like, over the cliff with him, I don't know. Hope? It's false hope.

Bad Moon Rising
Abortion's time of reckoning by Alan Keyes
Once again, it seems, America is what Lincoln observed it to be in the years before the Civil War – a House divided against itself. Our law mobilizes swiftly to apprehend, try and punish the malefactor responsible for Tiller's death, while abdicating in the name of right our responsibility to render an account to God for the thousands of innocent human lives Tiller destroyed. Because we patiently wait upon the Lord, sincere pro-life advocates rebuke and condemn those who take into their own hands the execution of justice. We rightly believe it is on the whole more justly done by the institutions of government. But in our times government ever more defiantly abandons the obligation of accountability for the unalienable right to life, though it is foremost among the prerequisites of its legitimacy. The institutions of government are now in the hands of a rabidly pro-abortion faction, which ever more openly prepares to persecute those who labor by peaceful moral and political means to correct this malfeasance. Thus we tragically approach a time of reckoning such as in his day Thomas Jefferson saw coming on account of slavery. He accurately dreaded the consequences of government support for the supposed property rights involved in slavery, when he declared, "I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever."
It doesn't have to get so bad if people would wake up and stop doing wrong things. Stop murdering, stealing, lying and cheating. That means politicians, too. It's not like there haven't been warning signs, or that people haven't been warned. There were warnings before WWII also.
I don't know exactly what's going to happen and I don't know when, but I do know that God is merciful and that what is playing out is not written in stone.
- It may be that they will listen, and each man turn from his evil way, that I may repent of the evil which I plan to do to them because of the evil of their doings. Jeremiah 26:3
- The instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck it up and to pull it down, and to destroy it;
if that nation, against whom I have spoken, will turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to them. Jeremiah 18:7,8 - Who knows? He may repent, and God may have pity and turn away from the glow of His anger, so that we do not perish.
And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way. And God was compassionate over the evil that He had said to do to them, and He did not do it. Jonah 3:10
But what do I know? I'm just a fool who believes God.
Those guys are good, aren't they? They deserve an encore.
Or two.
Still Falling on Deaf Ears
Mark Steyn: Obama's message of weakness
It's interesting how easily the words "the Muslim world" roll off the tongues of liberal secular progressives who'd choke on any equivalent reference to "the Christian world." When such hyperalert policemen of the perimeter between church and state endorse the former but not the latter, they're implicitly acknowledging that Islam is not merely a faith but a political project, too.
Taste Tester?
President Obama's French food tested by 'taster'
Why? Is he afraid of being poisoned? It can't be that, there has to be some other way to be sure. How would you know it wasn't a slow acting poison anyway? Is he tasting it to see if it tastes good? This is the first time I've heard this reported, did it happen only in France? Did he eat in Saudi Arabia? Did he taste it there? Does he have someone taste all his food? His hamburgers?
It's bizarre.
Edit: Apparently Bush did it, too. Still bizarre.

A Tree by a River
Write It in Pencil by Lenny Cacchio
Franklin then describes a conversation he had with a Dunker, a descriptive nickname that described the mode of baptism of that denomination. When Franklin asked why they refused to commit to writing their set of beliefs, the Dunker replied, "When we were first drawn together as a society, it pleased God to enlighten our minds so far as to see that some doctrines, which we once assumed truths, to be errors; and that others which we once esteemed errors, were real truths. From time to time He has been pleased to afford us farther light, and our principles have been improving, and our errors diminishing. Now we are not sure that we have arrived at the end of our progression, and at the perfection of spiritual or theological knowledge; and we fear that, if we should once print our confession of faith, we should feel ourselves as if bound and confined by it, and perhaps be unwilling to receive further improvement, and our successors still more so, as conceiving we their elders and founders had done, to be something sacred, never to be departed from."
I like how they thought, and I've had the same experience Lenny has had. I've never been one to write in my Bible, not that there is anything wrong with doing that, just never could bring myself to do it. I always thought, in the back of my mind, I might have to go back and change it and I didn't want to mess it up. I'd rather write in a notebook or something. Sure enough, much has changed over the years, although usually a refinement rather than a complete reversal. And I know I'm not done.
