Don't Smoke, Eat Healthy, Do Not Consume Junk Foods, and Hang in There Kid!

Vice President says unemployed should 'hang in there'

Yahoo! also asked the Vice President how we, as Americans, can turn around the economy and he responded with something even conceded might sound a little "silly."

"One of the ways to impact, as strange as it sounds, on the federal debt, on economic growth, on the cost of maintaining health care in America is: Don't smoke, eat healthy, do not consume junk foods," he said.

"I know that sounds silly, but it's very practical in terms of your own health and well-being, but also on the impact, on the cost of maintaining the health care system in the United States."
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel already!! Oh, no, wait. That's a train. :-(

New Heroes vs. Old by Thomas Sowell
People today who complain about the automobile's pollution have no idea how much more pollution there was before the automobile came along. In New York City, for example, the 40,000 horses that were the backbone of the city's transportation, before the automobile, produced 400 tons of manure per working day, along with 20,000 gallons of urine.
Somebody has to clean that up.

Dishes Not Getting Clean Lately?

Why Aren't Your Dishes Getting Clean? New Environmental Laws

Thanks to environmental protection laws passed in 16 states, dish detergent manufacturers have been forced to remove powerful cleansing agents called phosphates from their formulas nationwide. The result? Detergents that don't clean, reported Tampa Bay Online.

Local appliance repairman Don DiChristopher told the news agency that technicians were out in droves to frustrated customers who had already thrown out several sets of dishes or replaced their machines altogether, unable to get dishes clean.

"Holy cow, we got bombarded, our phone literally rang off the hook with calls," DiChristopher said, noting that his service received hundreds of calls shortly after the switchover to phosphate-free cleansers was completed in July. "We started turning down repair calls."
I have this exact problem and I was thinking the dishwasher was broken, too.

Was it Crushed?

Builders stumble across ice age 'graveyard' filled with fossilised remains of dozens of huge animals

Their haul so far still makes for impressive reading - ten American mastodons; four Columbian mammoths; four ice age bison; a Jefferson's ground sloth, an ice age deer and a tiger salamander have all been identified.
Wait...what? A Tiger Salamander?

Maybe there's a prehistoric, giant Tiger Salamander that I never heard of and I can't find on Google?

Elton John feels like 'second-class citizen'
Sir Elton John is "fed up" with being a treated like a "second-class citizen" in the U.S.
Seriously? Because I'm pretty sure that wherever Sir Elton John goes he is treated as absolute royalty.

Oh, the marriage 'ban' thing? That's it? First off, I don't think it really effects Elton John's life in any way, let alone in any meaningful way. Are they not going to let Elton John visit his man (or vice versa) in the hospital? -God forbid something would happen. Can't get his man in the company insurance plan? Don't be ridiculous, Elton John can get just about anything he wants. And there are ways around these things for others that don't involve messing with marriage.

Second, it's not a 'ban' on homosexual marriage. It's just that the definition of marriage is a man and a woman, it's always been that way since it was ordained by God as a pillar of society. Man and woman get married, have kids, raise family, families nurture children, families get together and form community, then city, state, country.

If you prefer, it is the way nature works. The male/female thing is about as universal as anything in nature. Survival of the fittest - the species is not going to survive very long if it doesn't reproduce, and reproduce as productively as possible.

People in the United States did not come together and decide to ban homosexuals from getting married as sometimes seems to be suggested. It is not a smart idea to just take a wrecking ball to the foundations of society without being completely sure of what you are doing. Humans have been on this planet for at the very least 6000 years and do you think it has been only in the past 40 years or so that homosexuals have thought it would be a good idea to get married? You don't think anyone has thought of it until now? And yet, somehow, there are no societies on Earth where this has happened successfully. Some things just don't work. Why only one man and one woman? Why marriage at all? Why can't a guy just go with whatever woman or man he likes that day? I say a lot of survival of the fittest has gone on with marriage in societies and what we have is what works. Period. The past 40 years has seen a shake up of the marriage foundation and it shows, it shows very badly.

You can make a better case for men having multiple wives or as many women as would have him being acceptable to society than homosexuals getting married. There are far more straight men than there are homosexuals, and nearly all would - all other considerations aside, natural inclinations acted upon only - live that way. Why don't they? Where are the successful societies built on that foundation? There are none. Because it harms society. It harms the children. It doesn't work.

So come on Elton, stop feeling sorry for yourself. Maybe do a little introspection. Read Glenn Beck's The 7: Seven Wonders That Will Change Your Life. It's really very good. If Elton John is not a happy man he has no one to blame but himself.

That's my opinion, worth price charged.

Truth Be Told...

Interesting. You can say the same about socialist/progressive/communist societies. In fact, the West is degrading, backsliding, devolving towards this failed societal model, led by people who think they understand, who are not willing to learn from others, and who only want to tell others what to do because they know best. And of course their herds follow their every lead.

God help us.

Not a Manly Book

I gotta be honest. I stumbled upon Ann's blog, A Holy Experience, some time ago (it's in my links on the left) and have always enjoyed her beautiful writing, not because I like reading beautiful writing so much (hey, I'm a man) but because God speaks to me through her writing. God wants me to know these blessings Ann is sharing. I suspect you may feel the same if you allow God's truth into your life.

Her book, One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are, does not disappointment. I just received the book and read the first chapter the same day - not meaning to, I was going to finish a couple of other books first - and it is better than I expected.

Fork Found!

Record of President Obama's birth in 1961 is 'in the archives'

Officials in Hawaii have tracked down papers indicating that President Obama was indeed born in their state, according to its new governor.

Gov. Neil Abercrombie, who took office in December, told Honolulu's Star-Advertiser on Tuesday that "our investigation" indicates there is a recording of his birth.

"It actually exists in the archives, written down," he said.
He said, without actually producing it. And it's written down? What, with a pencil?

I really hate when someone announces that they are going to release information proving or disproving something (could be anything) without actually releasing the information. Either release the information or shut up, it's not news until you produce it.

Please enjoy watching Renfield progressives prove their sanity in this clip from Dracula: Dead and Loving It.

The Man From Nowhere (Nowhere Man)

I know it's here somewhere, I just...it was just here, I saw it. Maybe it's under this rock. Hawaii governor can't find Obama birth certificate

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie suggested in an interview published today that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.

Abercrombie told the Honolulu Star Advertiser he was searching within the Hawaii Department of Health to find definitive vital records that would prove Obama was born in Hawaii, because the continuing eligibility controversy could hurt the president's chances of re-election in 2012.
They say we know where he is from and where he's been, but there are no records of any of it. That's not weird? It's like he went into the witness protection program at birth.

Small Government = Happy Citizens

Why we're a divided nation

Most of the issues that divide our nation, and give rise to conflict, are those best described as a zero-sum game where one person's or group's gain is of necessity another's loss. Examples are: racial preferences, school prayers, trade restrictions, welfare, Obamacare and a host of other government policies that benefit one American at the expense of another American. That's why political action committees, private donors and companies spend billions of dollars lobbying. Their goal is to get politicians and government officials to use the coercive power of their offices to take what belongs to one American and give it to another or create a favor or special privilege for one American that comes at the expense of some other American.

Remember This

Scientists warn California could be struck by winter ‘superstorm’

The threat of a cataclysmic California storm has been dormant for the past 150 years. Geological Survey director Marcia K. McNutt told the New York Times that a 300-mile stretch of the Central Valley was inundated from 1861-62. The floods were so bad that the state capital had to be moved to San Francisco, and Governor Leland Stanford had to take a rowboat to his own inauguration, the report notes. Even larger storms happened in past centuries, over the dates 212, 440, 603, 1029, 1418, and 1605, according to geological evidence.
Because inevitably, if it happens, 'climate change' will be the hue and cry.

The Constitution Works If We Don't Circumvent It

It's the Constitution, stupid!
Those who ignore the Constitution and persist in their efforts to control speech and guns refuse to recognize that government control of both could not prevent a recurrence of another Tucson-like tragedy. Deranged people who strike out at others are not deterred by laws. Laws only restrain law-abiders. There were plenty of laws in place last week, which the Tucson shooter completely ignored. Anyone who thinks that another law to prohibit free speech or another law to ban guns would have made a difference is just irrational.

Banned in Canada!

Canada Bans Dire Straits' "Money For Nothing" for Being Too Offensive.
The ruling, released Wednesday, was in response to a complaint against St. John's radio station CHOZ-FM. The listener complained that the word faggot – which appears three times in the song is "extremely offensive" to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.
I'm curious, do they have 'Rap' in Canada? I assume they do. And no one has ever been offended by the lyrics of a Rap song? I mean, apparently all it takes is one person to complain to ban something as offensive.
It ruled that "faggot," when used to describe a homosexual, is "even if entirely or marginally acceptable in earlier days, is no longer so."
So the word is OK if it is not used to describe a homosexual? Because I'm not so sure you can say that the use of the word in that song is being used to describe a homosexual. All rock stars are not homosexual, are they? Some are, most aren't.

90% of the time (not scientifically accurate, just an estimation) I've heard a non-homosexual, usually kids, use that word it was not directed at a homosexual. Most of the adults I've heard use the word were themselves homosexual. Homosexuals are not shy to use that word to describe themselves or their friends. I guess it's another word that only some people can use, not others.

I don't really care, I guess, Canada can do what it wants. And I'm not trying to protect the use of the word, I don't use it and I don't care if I ever hear the word again. I don't know, it's just something about banning words or books or songs that bothers me. And it's not like Canada had a vote and the majority decided to ban the song. One complaint and the offense police shut it down. I read somewhere about the world becoming less free...

Nice Try

Passenger in 'driverless' car charged for drunken driving

Out on the E4 motorway, the vehicle in question sped past the first patrol car it met. But when police caught up with the suspected drunken driver, they were startled to see that no one was in the driver's seat.

After proceeding about 200 metres without a driver, the car rolled to a stop and police approached the vehicle to find three men – one in the front seat and two, including the 29-year-old, in the back.

While all three men denied having driven the vehicle, police recognized the 29-year-old as having been behind the wheel when they first passed the car.

Stop Wasting Time on Do Nothing, Feel Good Bills

GOP Rep. Will Introduce New Strict Gun Law

Congressman Peter King today also announced that he will introduce legislation that will make it illegal to knowingly carry a gun within 1,000 feet of the President, Vice President, Members of Congress or judges of the Federal Judiciary.
Why not just make it illegal to kill someone? Put up a sign!
Passing a similar law for government officials would give federal, state, and local law enforcement a better chance to intercept would-be shooters before they pull the trigger.
Will they set up metal detectors on wheels at the 1000 foot periphery?

There is no way to enforce such a law and it will not stop a maniac bent on doing harm - and that is the supposed point of the legislation after all, isn't it?

How about this: Politicians stop promising people things they can't possibly deliver, like equality of outcome, FREE health care, FREE money taken back from the evil rich, perfect weather, one world government, peace, and all the other socialist dream projects that inevitably lead to disappointment, disillusionment, poverty, dependence, heteronomy, subjection and every other evil outcome under the sun.

Conservatives/Tea Partiers are angry, yes, but in no way violent. They will stand against your plans to fundamentally change America to your socialist ideal because we KNOW it cannot work, but we will do so legally. When the people that you lied to - the ones who actually believed you - come to the realization that you are just lining your own pockets and cannot actually deliver on your promises, then you will begin to see an anger that leads to violent action. But that is the pot you stirred.

Be Careful What You Wish For...

What is Morally Right About Economic Freedom

Skip the first 7 minutes to get to the main speaker and the meat of the presentation.

The Loose Screw

The Lone Gunman by Alan Caruba

Here's what you need to keep in mind. It's not about gun laws. It's not about Tucson. It's not about Arizona. It's not about political analysis and dialogue, so you can ignore the hypocritical ravings of MSNBC’s Keith Olberman and others eager to blame Rush Limbaugh or the Fox News Channel.

Loughner is Hinkley redux. Described by all who know him as "a loner" and rejected for military service, invited to leave the campus of a local college, more than a few people understood that Jared had a screw loose.

The shooting was about mental illness. It was about paranoia. It was about schizophrenia. It was about all the other killings where innocent people were gunned down by someone hearing voices in his head.
I hate what happened in Arizona and my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims. And I hate when people try to use a tragedy like this for political advantage. The guy was just plain crazy. How do you protect society from someone like that? Hopefully someone will be there to put a stop to it when it happens, but I don't think you can stop it 100%, certainly not by disarming the sane, law-abiding citizens. There is a level of danger in being alive that can never be removed.

Their Criminality is Garbed in Ideological Belief

The objective is power.

Government as a Criminal Enterprise by Alan Caruba

Many of our politicians, union leaders, environmentalists, etc., are cloaking themselves in ideology in order to achieve power.

I don't think you can objectively look at what is taking place in our government and come to any other conclusion. They don't care if the house burns down, they have already gutted it. Was it in Goodfellas where they lent money to a restaurant owner who couldn't pay and they looted it for all it was worth and burned it down? I'm not sure which movie it was but that is happening to the United States now. Unbelievable as that may be. I pray we can stop them.
