That's the First Thing I Thought Of

Gutfeld rips paper publishing gun owners addresses: Makes non-gun owners ‘the easiest marks’
"If anything, non-gun owners should be livid for the paper made them the easiest marks. Just look at this map — what do you see? Not just pockets of gun owners in red, but pockets without. How comfy would you feel knowing your gun-free zone is now public?"

You Can't Ban Crazy

And in a country of no guns in the hands of civilians: Chinese man drives car into students, injuring 13
A man angered by a court ruling in the murder of his daughter rammed a car loaded with a gas tank and firecrackers into a group of middle schoolers, injuring 13 in the country's latest attack on students.

Where Have I Been?

There is a world record for a person holding the most rattlesnakes in their mouth? Why? Who thought that up?

There is a show called Rattlesnale Republic? Wow.

Brandishing. How Completely Silly.

DC Police Investigating NBC's David Gregory for Brandishing Illegal Magazine
Washington D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier has confirmed that the department is looking into allegations that NBC's David Gregory violated D.C.'s gun banning laws during a recent taping of Meet the Press.
As is always the case, the only people negatively effected by gun bans are the law abiding. Brandishing a magazine! He could have put an eye out!

How about disarming and putting gang members away? No, that would be too dangerous and politically incorrect.

Sums It Up

Ready to eat: the first GM fish for the dinner table
A GM [genetically modified] salmon which grows twice as fast as ordinary fish could become the first genetically-modified animal in the world to be declared officially safe to eat, after America's powerful food-safety watchdog ruled it posed no major health or environmental risks.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said it could not find any valid scientific reasons to ban the production of GM Atlantic salmon engineered with extra genes from two other fish species – a decision that could soon lead to its commercial production.
If the government puts its stamp of approval on it it must be safe. Right?

I just hope they label them genetically modified (they won't) because I hate the thought of not eating salmon ever again.

Hebrew is a Fascinating Language

"The purpose of giving is to give to the point where the person doesn't need you anymore, to create independence, I want to give to the point where I can give the real gift; you don't need me, I've stopped giving. Real giving is to create an independent person"
There are many insightful tidbits in this video, definitely worth watching.

Only Sensible Solution

Now, we must speak … for the safety of our nation's children.

Because for all the noise and anger directed at us over the past week, no one — nobody —has addressed the most important, pressing and immediate question we face: How do we protect our children right now, starting today, in a way that we know works? The only way to answer that question is to face up to the truth. Politicians pass laws for Gun-Free School Zones. They issue press releases bragging about them. They post signs advertising them.

And in so doing, they tell every insane killer in America that schools are their safestplace to inflict maximum mayhem with minimum risk. How have our nation's priorities gotten so far out of order? Think about it. We care about our money, so we protect our banks with armed guards. American airports, office buildings, power plants, courthouses —even sports stadiums —are all protected by armed security.

We care about the President, so we protect him with armed Secret Service agents. Members of Congress work in offices surrounded by armed Capitol Police officers.

Yet when it comes to the most beloved, innocent and vulnerable members of the American family —our children —we as a society leave them utterly defenseless, and the monsters and predators of this world know it and exploit it. That must change now!

Massad Ayoob: Understanding Both Sides
The "gun control" debate has, from its beginning, been a battle fueled by emotion and symbolism on the banning side, and by logic and common sense on the side of the responsible gun owners. The fires of emotion flare brightly, but they burn down with time, particularly when dampened by logical public discourse.

I suspect this is why POTUS is moving so quickly on his long-promised gun banning legislation, which he has said he wants to see on his desk by sometime next month. It is why he appointed to lead a supposedly impartial fact-finding commission none other than long-time gun ban advocate Joe Biden, which is rather like appointing the leader of the Westboro Baptist Church as chair of a committee to study gay rights.

Leading the charge are "journalists" who've abandoned all pretense to impartiality and fact finding. CNN has become "all gun control, all the time" over the past week.

In a World Without Guns...

Woman Robbed By Man With Sword
Police say the woman was pumping gas at Sweet Pea’s Food Mart, when a man with a sword approached her and held it to her throat.

The victim handed over her purse, and the suspect took off with it.

Ignoring the Facts. Again.

After School Shooting, Anti-Gun Advocates Want NRA President, Members to Be Shot

#1. Shooter was not an NRA member.

#2. Shooter was not even a gun owner. And he was turned down when he tried to buy a gun.

Thomas Sowell, who continues to impress me, writes: Gun-control zealots rise, again
Gun-control zealots’ choice of Britain for comparison with the United States has been wholly tendentious, not only because it ignored the history of the two countries, but also because it ignored other countries with stronger gun-control laws than the United States, such as Russia, Brazil and Mexico. All of these countries have higher murder rates than the United States.

You could compare other sets of countries and get similar results. Gun ownership has been three times as high in Switzerland as in Germany, but the Swiss have had lower murder rates. Other countries with high rates of gun ownership and low murder rates include Israel, New Zealand and Finland.

Guns are not the problem. People are the problem – including people who are determined to push gun-control laws, either in ignorance of the facts or in defiance of the facts.

If Only...

Family, friends remember the brave, caring legacy of Sandy Hook teacher Vicki Soto, 27
Teacher Victoria Soto used her body to shield her students from the maniacal gunman who launched a massacre at a Connecticut school, relatives said Saturday.
If only she'd had a gun. Of course, that's not her fault, it's verboten in schools. Gun free zone, don't you know. Except when it's not.

Laws do not alter a persons behavior except voluntarily. I choose to obey laws and you choose to obey laws, criminals choose NOT to obey laws. How many laws did this monster break before he even got to the school? He lived in New Jersey, not a gun friendly state by any means. Most likely he could not have gotten his guns legally, certainly it was illegal for him to transport them in his car. Connecticut is not a gun friendly state either. He didn't care. He killed his mother and kindergarteners, they don't come much sicker than that. And more deserving of death.

Love. But God says to love everyone. You don't stop violence with more violence. Really? Would it not have been an act of love if Vicki Soto could have pulled a gun and stopped the monster before he could slaughter so many kids? Was it not a waste - but heroic, yes - that she could only be the first to die? Is it love to let monsters like this do what they want at the cost of so many innocent lives? I think not. It's not love if I let a monster hurt my family and, damn straight, I want to have the advantage if a situation like that arises. The gun is the equalizer. It's my fire extinguisher. I hope against hope I never have to use it, I don't even like to think about having to use it like that, but I hate the thought of what could happen if I don't have the right to use it. Do-gooders who think they are saving the world are, in their ignorance, doing much more harm than good.

Now, watch the video, he's got some good points, too.

Socialists Don't Like Rich People

So they demonize them and harass them and endlessly take from them, then can't figure out why everyone is destitute. It's such an easy thing to think through, why do so many people miss it?

There are evil rich people, yes. But there are also evil poor people. I'd venture to say there are many more evil poor than evil rich. Having money or not having money does not make one evil or good. Coveting and/or stealing another persons property however, that is an evil. We have laws against it. God has laws against it. You don't even need a law to tell you it is wrong, you know how you feel when someones steals from you. Generous? Even if you are forgiving, it hurts.

So, we want to base our government on theft? How does that even begin to make sense to an atheist, let alone some of the "Christians" I hear proclaiming the "virtues" of socialism. Mob rule. Mob rule crucified Jesus.

How Socialism Has Doomed France
"It is the tragic flaw by which the grand ambition of socialism has always failed, and will always fail. Human nature resists any attempt to seize one's property beyond what he would willingly give. This is the very basis of the social contract between a free man and a just government. A man chooses to take part. If that social contract is amended to be uniquely biased against his right to property, absent his consent, he may rightfully exercise his right to liberty and seek avenues to establish a new contract with a government, either by revolution or, more commonly today, expatriation."

Rivals

Kingdoms in Conflict
Luke’s account of the birth of Jesus has a specific reference to the most powerful man in the world. “And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered.” (Luke 2:1)

Thus we are introduced to two kingdoms, the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of Caesar. And they were – and are – rivals.

They Should Have Built a Wall

Despite Tax Increase, California State Revenues in Freefall
Democrats thought they could hammer "the rich" by convincing voters to pass Proposition 30 to create the highest state income tax in the nation. But it now appears that high income earners have already “voted with their feet” by moving themselves and their businesses out of state, resulting in over $1 billion shortfall in corporate and income taxes last month and the beginning of a new financial crisis.
That's one reason they can't let people out of a communist country, if all the wealth creating people leave they run out of other people's money faster. Not that they would keep working so hard to create wealth when it is confiscated from them anyway. Will they never admit they are wrong?

Managing the Problem IS the Problem

The Python Challenge
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission touts the month-long contest as a way to raise public awareness about the threat the exotic constrictors pose to native wildlife in the Everglades and potentially put a dent in their population. Scientists estimate that thousands, perhaps tens of thousands, of the once-popular pets now live in the wild
Why not just put a bounty on the snakes? It doesn't have to be large, just enough so people can put some food on the table doing us the favor of ridding the Everglades of an alien species. Open season all year - we're not trying to manage the population, we want them all gone. Believe me, we can hunt a species to extinction if we put our minds to it, it wouldn't be the first time. In this case it would be the right thing to do. Instead, we have:
Increasing public awareness about Burmese pythons and how this invasive species is a threat to the Everglades ecosystem, including native wildlife, is the goal of the 2013 Python Challenge.
Here we have the typical government reaction to a problem - manage the problem so it always exists and government bureaucrats always have a job while bitching about how terrible the problem is. It's enough to make you scream.

Because It Bears Repeating

Over and over.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep on saying it until such a time as communism finally falls for good: In practice, communism has only ever been about the wealthy and well-positioned maintaining their power and privilege over the meticulously brainwashed masses. Communism is not and never has been about ensuring the happiness of equality, preventing the misery of suppression, and socio-economic justice for all mankind, or whatever baloney it is the regime force-feeds the masses from all sides — the state runs or regulates the media, the schools, the Internet, just about everything over there. Ain’t no income disparity like communist income disparity, and while the city-dwelling members of China’s billion-strong population generally appear fairly materially well-off, the other hundreds of millions of rural peasants living in back-breaking, dirt-scraping poverty are largely kept out of sight.
Chinese communist party officially bans pomp and circumstance

I Witnessed a Police Chase Today

A middle-aged, heavy black male was jogging down the sidewalk - barely jogging - right around midnight. Following closely behind on foot was a police officer, matching the cadence of the suspect. Slightly to the rear a patrol car was inching along behind on the side of the road, lights on. It was like the O.J. chase on foot. At one point the suspect tripped and fell to the ground.

I was working at the time and that is all I saw, it wasn't a time I could stop and gawk at all the excitement. I so wanted that on camera though!

Patriotism

So what is patriotism? Here’s what it's not: it's not an allegiance to the government of the day, or to its invariably wicked, un-American policies. It's an affinity for your community; it's an understanding of the great principles upon which this country was founded—which have been excised by successive governments, Republican and Democratic alike. And it's a commitment to restoring the republic of private-property rights, individual freedoms, and radical decentralization.

What You Don't Know Can Kill You

Yes, it's a long video but it is very interesting in that you will learn about what John P. Holdren, the current White House science czar, has written and advocates and why, being in the position that he is, it is a very scary proposition for America and the world. This is someone - one of many - that the President of the United States has chosen to surround himself with as advisors and fellow fundamental changers.

Given what has transpired in the past, over and over again, it is no great leap to think it may happen again in the future, and if it does, these are the among people who will help bring it about.
