Fred gets ornery with the media

Not that there's anything wrong with getting ornery with the media, they deserve it mostly, but he just doesn't seem that ornery to me here, seems quite friendly actually. He's calm and well spoken. He also won't let anyone push him around - good on him. Fred is most decidedly NOT ornery. Check that definition again.

I do like what he said about Fred here: "Fred's supporters like to say he's the only true conservative in the race, but it's more than that. He's the only candidate on our side who's not, essentially, a bulls**t artist."

Unfortunately, people do love their bulls**t. They don't like to admit that but in any contest between truth and bulls**t, truth usually gets buried. Shame.
