Big Government Cranks Out the Regulations


The Most Ridiculous Law of 2013 (So Far): It Is Now a Crime to Unlock Your Smartphone
But there is another matter of critical importance: Laws that can place people in jail should be passed by Congress, not by the decree of the Librarian of Congress. We have no way to hold the Librarian of Congress accountable for crazy laws. There are still plenty of crazy laws passed by elected officials, but at least we can then vote them out of office.
Actually, this is probably not the most ridiculous law of 2013, just the most ridiculous law that came to the attention of and bothered the person writing this. There are crazy laws and regulations passed all the time that you have no idea about because it is impossible for anyone to keep track of them all. And, yes, increasingly these laws or regulations come from unaccountable, unelected czars. Welcome to the world of big government.
