Safety

So I'm reading about this Texas college shooting and come across this:

The Lone Star Campus System is a gun-free zone (Obviously), Carpenter said. State officials said the school had a plan to handle a shooting or other emergency situation (again, obviously - it's "Call 911! and wait for help.").

"It has been safe for 40 years," Carpenter said. "We think it's still safe."

The truth is it has never really been safe. Just because no one brought a gun on campus intending to hurt someone before doesn't mean they couldn't. No place is ever really safe, criminals can walk, drive, take buses or taxis. There is no safety in this life and being completely oblivious to possible danger doesn't change that. Now I'm not saying you need to be paranoid, just be aware.
