Allen West for President?

Allen West to Obama, Reid, Pelosi: 'Get the Hell Out of the United States of America'
"Take your message of equality of achievement, take your message of economic dependency, take your message of enslaving the entrepreneurial will and spirit of the American people somewhere else," he continued. "You can take it to Europe, you can take it to the bottom of the sea, you can take it to the North Pole, but get the hell out of the United States of America."

As the audience cheered and many rose to their feet, West added, "Yeah I said 'hell.'"

Red is the New Green

Yet Another Green Energy Stimulus Recipient Hits the Skids (the third this week!)
Earlier this week, Stimulus beneficiary Evergreen Energy bit the dust. Then, Ener1, a manufacturer of batteries for electric vehicles and recipient of Stimulus largesse, filed for bankruptcy. And today, the Las Vegas Sun reports that Amonix, Inc., a manufacturer of solar panels that received $5.9 million from the Porkulus, will cut two-thirds of its workforce, about 200 employees, only seven months after opening a factory in Nevada.

Strong Foundations a Strong Society Make

Amazon seller accused of five star fix

I wanted to highlight the opening paragraph from this article because it is hitting at the problem we are facing as a society.
While most of us object to politicians or law enforcement officials taking bribes, it turns out that the public is quite happy to be complicit in corrupt behavior.
If the individual citizens cannot govern themselves, the government will have to do it for them. That is why we now have things like "the Peacemaker" rolling out into South Florida neighborhoods. It could be coming to your neighborhood next.

God starts with the healing of the individual, building society from the individual up - and it's completely voluntary. Strong people, strong families, strong society. Man takes the opposite approach, masterminding the great society and forcing the individual to conform - which never truly happens, even after all the bloodshed which inevitably ensues.

We've had many years of top down planning in the United States and it is beginning to fall apart. The people are corrupt, families torn apart, and the strong hand of government trying to keep it together. May we repent - realize our errors and turn it around - before it's too late.

Edit: After writing the above, before going to bed, I was reading a book called 'Friend of God' by Ray Stedman, and came across this paragraph:
The spiritual freedom that Christ brings always produces social and political freedom. Those who try to bring about social and political justice without laying a foundation of freedom in Christ are doomed to fail. No amount of political action and organizing will ever succeed in setting people free until the gospel of Jesus Christ has planted the seeds of freedom in human hearts.
I believe the closest this world has ever come to that freedom - at least since ancient Israel - has been in the United States whose foundational principles were based on Judeo-Christian values. As we lose those values, we lose the blessings that result.

Old School American

Armed 64-year-old woman says to suspect "I will shoot you!"
Investigators said Roderick Willis was a wanted fugitive and was being tracked by a sheriff's helicopter.

The helicopter had a spotlight on him as he ran along the side of Karen Granville's home and into her backyard.

However, before he could climb the fence, Willis came face-to-face with Granville, who pointed a gun right at his face and said, "Don't you move mother f*****, I will shoot you! I will shoot you where you stand!"
He didn't move, she didn't shoot, suspect apprehended.

Culture of Corruption Update

Store owners busted after stealing millions in food-stamp scheme

Money quote:
"What's going on here is to the tune of $2 million in a four-block area, imagine what's going on throughout the rest of the state and the rest of the country,"
They couldn't do this without the willing participation of food stamp recipients. The article says they are stealing from "the area's poorest residents" as if they have no control. But, "the area's poorest residents" know what they are doing, they are not ignorant of what is going on here.

I'm not excusing the store owners - no way - but let's not pretend they are without willing accomplice.

We Don't Need No Stinkin' Budget

1000 Days
What am I'm referring to? It has officially been 1000 days since the Senate has passed a budget. Arguably one of the most important functions the Senate has to perform every year .. and they have failed to do this for 1000 days. And not coincidentally, the Senate has been controlled by Democrats for 1000 out of those 1000 days. At one point early last year, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said that it would be "foolish" for the Senate to consider a budget. They didn't pass one through committee let alone put one on the floor.

Making Air Travel Safer

I've been thinking about this problem from the perspective of the Obama administration. We need to tax the airline industry out of existence. Sure you can start an airline, but you'd go broke doing it. At the same time, loan billions of dollars to the teleportation industry. Can you imagine how wonderful it will be to just 'beam' to where you need to go? No dirty jet fuel, no worrying about terrorists on airplanes, no airport parking. Sure, you'd have teleport parking but at least it's not airport parking.

Yes, it might be a bit expensive - at first, but this approach worked wonders for solar and wind energy, not to mention ethanol production. Yes we can.

No Room for Error

Watching Ice Road Truckers: Deadliest Roads on Netflix. This show is crazy. They took truckers from North America that normally drive on the ice roads in Canada and Alaska and sent them to India to drive on narrow, dilapidated mountain roads. It's completely insane. One guy didn't even get out of the city before he quit, another just froze up when meeting traffic heading the other way on the narrow mountain road. Refused to go on.

Seems unnecessarily dangerous to put completely unfamiliar drivers in that situation but it is entertaining. I wouldn't mind watching the drivers who normally drive those routes every day, might be just as entertaining.

It's an addicting show, I recommend giving it a try.
"The main thing about driving these roads ... don't look down."

"Words can't describe that drop off. And I mean that."

They're Watching

North Korea reportedly punishing those who didn't sufficiently mourn Kim Jong Il
"The authorities are handing down at least six months in a labor-training camp to anybody who didn't participate in the organized gatherings during the mourning period, or who did participate but didn't cry and didn't seem genuine."
The Obama administration is jealous.

Florida senior citizen shoots, kills suspected burglar

Police: Man breaking into home shot to death by 82-year-old homeowner: MyFoxORLANDO.com

"The 82-year-old resident did something that the criminal justice system couldn't do; he put a burglar out of business," said Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood.
At best, the police are your backup. They will show up after you do the dirty work, or after the dirty work is done to you. Understand that. The criminal justice system is crippled by political correctness and run by a man who is, to put it kindly, incompetent and not a friend of the law-abiding.

Back in the USSR

Homeland Security keeping tabs on "free speech"
It's unclear exactly why, but the Department of Homeland has been operating a "Social Networking/Media Capability" program to monitor the top blogs, forums and social networks online for at least the past 18 months. Based on a privacy compliance review from last November recently obtained by Reuters, the purpose of the project is to "collect information used in providing situational awareness and establishing a common operating picture." Whatever that means.
That means you stick with the 'government approved' message, or else. Kapeesh?

Quote of the Day

Atheism is like AIDS: it robs you of the ability to repel invading viruses, philosophical or mental, by crippling the spiritual version of your immune system.

Homeland Security monitors journalists
Freedom of speech might allow journalists to get away with a lot in America, but the Department of Homeland Security is on the ready to make sure that the government is keeping dibs on who is saying what.

I Just Hope This Study Was Privately Funded

Probably not. The peculiar physics of crumpled paper
How can a sheet of paper become an unaccountably tough projectile simply by the act of crushing? The answer might seem simple, but it turned out that finding a sound explanation required complex instruments and a lot of brain power.

More Child Abuse From a Government School

A 16-year-old girl is suspended from school and and faces criminal charges for writing this on her Facebook page:
"Oh, so you keyed my car. Your karma is going to be a whole lot worse than that."
Where is the little voice of reason? Not in the school. In the police department? Apparently not. Is anyone looking for the person who keyed her car? Is that person suspended or charged with vandalism? No word on that. Apparently vandalism pales in comparison to a trumped-up thought crime.

Starting the New Year Off With a Bang

Americans buy record numbers of guns for Christmas
"I think there's an increased realisation that when something bad occurs it's going to be between them and the criminal."
This is a good thing, we need more law-abiding gun owners.
