They Never Give Up

Goodbye Global Warming, Hello Biodiversity by Alan Caruba

After three decades of trying to push the global warming scam to a point where billions could be made selling and trading bogus “carbon credits”, the global schemers have abandoned it in the wake of 2009 revelations that a handful of rogue climate scientists were literally inventing the data to support it.

If there is one lesson to be learned from and about environmentalists, it is that they are utterly relentless. The ultimate goal is one-world government directed from the United Nations by unelected bureaucrats who are soulless strangers to the truth, to morality, to humanity.

The United States supports this abomination to the tune of billions every year.

The United Nations is a place where some of the world’s dictatorships have delegates representing them on its Human Rights Council, where a vast Oil-for-Food scandal flourished while Saddam Hussein held power in Iraq, where a single agency’s sole purpose is to ensure that Palestinians remain refugees six decades after the rebirth of Israel.

It is an organization where all manner of international treaties are ginned up to extend its control over the entire land mass and all the waters of the earth.

It is where the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) practiced its deceit, regularly documenting a rise in the earth’s average temperature even when a new natural cooling cycle began in 1998.

Everything that could be attributed to a phony global warming to keep the people of the world scared flowed from this enormous lie. It caused governments to invest billions into the worst forms of energy, wind and solar, along with endless other equally worthless “Green” programs.

So, now, permit me to introduce you to the NEXT Big Lie—biodiversity!

Unsafe for Purpose Intended

Justice Elena Kagan's first vote is against an execution

Why? Because there is speculation that one of the drugs used in the execution may be unsafe because it's not made in America.

Of course the drug is unsafe, they wouldn't use it to execute someone otherwise. Would they?

Obama Believes the American People are the Enemy?

Punishing Our Enemies

When Barack Obama tells Hispanics to "punish our enemies," whom is he talking about?

Have you thought about that?

In a radio interview on the Spanish-language Univision network Monday, Obama made this remarkable statement: "If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, 'We're going to punish our enemies and we're gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us,' if they don't see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it's going to be harder, and that's why I think it's so important that people focus on voting on November 2."

I'd like you to think about whether you have ever before heard a president of the United States describe Americans as enemies.

Notice he didn't use the term "political adversaries" or even "political enemies." He just used the unqualified term "enemies."

So whom was he talking about?

I suspect you know.

He was talking about you and me.
For those of you still supporting this guy, thinking he's not talking about you because you're a good liberal - you better think that through. He has quite obviously shown his contempt for the "little guy" and his willingness to throw anyone who outlives their usefulness under the bus. Don't forget this guy looks globally and every American is rich in his eyes and needs to "give back."

The Downward Slide

U.S. slips to historic low in global corruption index

We're out of the top 20. We were 19th last year, this year we're 22nd. Anyone surprised? When Obama was running for president he was all about getting rid of corruption in government and being open and honest. Since taking office it's become obvious that what he meant by corruption was freedom, jobs, prosperity and equality.

Oh How We Hate Being Disturbed

Oh the peril, the ghastly peril of failing to fulfil national destiny by reason of prosperity! No nation ever failed to fulfil its destiny because of adversity. It is prosperity that blasts a nation. Jeshurun waxed fat and kicked. He became sleek and forgot God. That was the trouble threatening our own nation, and therefore I say it with great solemnity, we thank God when He disturbs us. He is waking us from our lethargy that we may find our wings and reach the heights.

If you haven't seen it yet, you can see the video here.

And the Voter Fraud Begins...

Harry Reid has been offering free food and, according to other reports, some Democratic allies such as teachers' unions are offering gift cards in return for a vote for Reid. Illegal.

Some voters in Boulder City complained on Monday that their ballot had been cast before they went to the polls, - For Democrats, of course.

voting machine technicians are SEIU members - Obama goons.

Voter reports problem with ballot machine

Sam Laughinghouse of New Bern said he pushed the button to vote Republican in all races, but the voting machine screen displayed a ballot with all Democrats checked. He cleared the screen and tried again with the same result, he said. Then he asked for and received help from election staff.

"They pushed it twice and the same thing happened," Laughinghouse said. "That was four times in a row. The fifth time they pushed it and the Republicans came up and I voted."

Training Pays

Cop who foiled Brooklyn salon robbery says she was following her training

She knocked the gun out of his hand with one shot, and with another damaged the lock on the door, trapping Cox for several moments. Cops said he escaped by breaking the glass on the door and crawling out.
I don't want to take anything away from her, she was very brave to do what she did, to stand there while someone is shooting at her and shoot back. You cannot imagine the changes you body goes through when the adrenaline hits in a situation like that, she did great and I'm proud of her.

I do have to comment on an aspect of this, however. If you read the comment on the bottom of the article you will see that some people want to use this as an example of how the police should handle shootings. It's not the only place I read a comment like it about this shooting, either, which is why I'm writing this.

If you read the article without knowledge of real gunfights you will come away with the idea that she calmly shot the gun out of his hand and then shot the door lock so he couldn't escape, as if that's what she meant to do. Sorry to disappoint, but that's Hollywood fantasy.

In the words of Officer Feris Jones: "I was using my training, center mass, and that's where it landed." Exactly. She was using a 5 shot Smith and Wesson pistol, she aimed center mass - at the chest - and hit his hand, which was holding the gun up in front of his chest shooting at her. You pretty much hit what you are looking at and when someone is pointing a gun at you, you naturally look at the gun. Her other shots missed the target, one of which hit the door lock. There is no way in hell she did that on purpose. Even in a controlled situation, aiming at the door lock, you could not guarantee what would happen.

In a situation like that your senses warp, you get tunnel vision, your sense of time is exaggerated, you lose feeling in your extremities, you body trembles. You can't stop this from happening. I'd lay odds she fired every shot she had just as fast as she could pull the trigger, and probably pulled the trigger a few more times before she realized she was out. She did as much as any good cop could do, and she survived. Notice, too, that the criminal missed every time he fired. He was having the same effects on his body, but he was not trained, over and over, for the situation.

Please don't expect that police should be able to shoot a gun out of someones hand on command or just shoot someone in the arm, or just wound them - it's not possible and it's unreasonable to expect it.

Just Leave Well Enough Alone

Stop the Insanity!

Time to End the Ethanol Ripoff

Psst! Want to avoid $25-to-$30 billion in new deficit spending over the next five years? You do? Okay, then email, fax or call your congressman and tell him you want to let the 45 cents-per-gallon Volumetric Ethanol Tax Credit (VEETC) expire on December 31, 2010.

The ethanol tax incentives are just one part of the appalling failure of bad environmental ideas and policies that Americans have had to suffer since the days of Jimmy Carter.
If you don't know who your representative is, look it up here. Just write a quick note, do it before you forget. It's so easy to put it off and think others will do it. We need to stop doing that.

Human Incompetence

God has always had to deal with human incompetence, and He overrules it in order to arrive at His own goal, to realize the destiny He purposes for humanity. Where have we as a nation ever arrived as the result of our own competence, tell me? We have arrived at wonderful places of power, and influence, and responsibility... If we will but read our history aright, we shall find it to be a story of the overruling of incompetence by God; and that it is this that has brought us to the position of power and influence we have occupied in the world, and shall still occupy if our feet are but turned back to the way of His commandments, and our heart becomes fixed, trusting in the Lord.

--G. Campbell Morgan, The Fixed Heart in the Day of Frightfulness
Socialism/Marxism/Communism is human incompetence overruling God, which is why it always fails.

Big Government = Fraud

Report: In Obama's Chicago, stimulus weatherization money buys shoddy work, widespread fraud

Projects to weatherize homes are a key part of the Obama administration's fusion of stimulus spending and the green agenda. But a new report by the Department of Energy has found serious problems in stimulus-funded weatherization work -- problems so severe that they have resulted in homes that are not only not more energy efficient but are actually dangerous for people to live in.

The findings are grim. "Our testing revealed substandard performance in weatherization workmanship, initial assessments, and contractor billing," the inspector general report says. "These problems were of such significance that they put the integrity of the entire program at risk."

Department inspectors visited 15 homes that were being weatherized by CEDA and paid for by stimulus funds. "We found that 14 of the 15 homes…failed final inspection because of poor workmanship and/or inadequate initial assessments," the report says. In eight of the homes, CEDA had come up with unworkable and ineffective plans -- like putting attic insulation in a house with a leaky roof. In ten of the homes, "contractors billed for labor charges that had not been incurred and for materials that had not been installed." The report calls billing problems "pervasive," with seven of ten contractors being cited for erroneous invoicing. And the department found "a 62 percent final inspection error rate" when CEDA inspectors reviewed their own work.

And then there was fraud. At ten of the 15 homes visited, Department inspectors found examples in which "a contractor had installed a 125,000 BTU boiler, but had billed CEDA for a 200,000 BTU boiler costing an estimated $1,000. more." Another contractor "billed for almost four times the amount of drywall actually installed." And another "installed 12 light bulbs but had billed CEDA for 20." (The Department found that CEDA paid almost three times the retail price for each light bulb.) "Billing issues appeared to be pervasive," the report concludes.
Obama = Fraud.

This Whole Administration is a Fraud

And everything it touches turns to crap. We've all been taken for a ride. It's time to unplug them.

Volt Fraud At Government Motors

Government Motors' all-electric car isn't all-electric and doesn't get near the touted hundreds of miles per gallon. Like "shovel-ready" jobs, maybe there's no such thing as "plug-ready" cars either.

The Chevy Volt, hailed by the Obama administration as the electric savior of the auto industry and the planet, makes its debut in showrooms next month, but it's already being rolled out for test drives by journalists. It appears we're all being taken for a ride.

One More Thing

Obama omits Creator from the Declaration of Independence. Again. 3 times now? Obviously it is not an error and he does not believe the Creator endowed us with those inalienable rights.

When asked why the president did not use the words "endowed by their Creator" in his Monday speech, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters Tuesday, "I can assure you the president believes in the Declaration of Independence."

He believes in the Declaration of Independence (it exists), but doesn't necessarily agree with it, nor that our Creator endowed us with any inalienable rights. Possibly does not believe in the Creator at all. Oh, and he thinks you're an idiot if you don't agree with him.

Juan Williams Fired from NPR?

For saying this?

"When I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous."

Ridiculous. My opinion of NPR has not changed, it is still very, very, very low.

Hat tip: Atlas Shrugs

From National Politically-correct Radio

NPR--unfair, unbalanced...and afraid.

And from Alan Caruba: NPR Fires Juan Williams for Telling the Truth

Telling the truth while exercising his First Amendment right of free speech was why NPR fired Juan Williams.

Founded in 1970, NPR has always been a propaganda arm of the government and has always been liberal in its news reportage and analysis no matter what party was in power. About 10% of its funding comes from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a federally funded organization. The rest comes from local and state governments, government-funded universities, along with member station's fees, foundation grants, and corporate underwriting.

As Long As I Get Mine ...

Audit: NJ Turnpike Wasted Millions On Perks

Auditors say the New Jersey Turnpike Authority wasted $43 million on unneeded perks and bonuses. In one case, an employee with a base salary of $73,469 earned $321,985 when all payouts and bonuses were included.
Having worked for the state of New Jersey I can attest to the culture of waste that permeates government operations. Of course, the employees don't consider it waste.

On a related note, Alan Caruba writes: Saving America from Ourselves

Who's making money these days? Government workers. They belong to the largest union in America.

The truth is the nation has been drifting toward socialist "solutions" since the 1930s that have never worked successfully anywhere. That is why the British have hit the wall and the French are in the streets rioting. Famously, socialism has run out of other people's money to give away.

Don't Know Who She Is, But I Like Her

An interview with Velvet Underground's Moe Tucker

No country can provide all things for all citizens. There comes a point where it just isn't possible, and it's proven to be a failure everywhere it's been tried. I am not oblivious to the plight of the poor, but I don't see any reason/sense to the idea that everyone has to have everything, especially when the economy is so bad. I see that philosophy as merely a ploy to control.

My family was damn poor when I was growing up on Long Island. There were no food stamps, no Medicaid, no welfare. If you were poor, you were poor. You didn't have a TV, you didn't have five pairs of shoes, you didn't have Levi's, you didn't have a phone; you ate Spam, hot dogs and spaghetti. We all survived! I am not against food stamps, welfare or Medicaid, if only they would oversee these programs properly!

I am also against the government taking over the student loan program, car companies, bailouts and the White House taking control of the census (what the hell is that all about?); [about] any First Lady telling (I know, I know, "suggesting to") us what to eat, the mayor of New York City declaring "no salt" (screw you, pal!), the mayor/city commissioners of Anytown, U.S.A. declaring you can't fly a flag, can't say the Pledge of Allegiance and can't sing the National Anthem. I'm against a President dismissing any and all who dare to disagree; the water being turned off in (central) California, at [an] area where they've turned off the water because they want to save a one-inch fish -- turning that huge area of farming land into another dustbowl -- the insipid start of food supply control methinks! The government deciding what kind of lightbulbs we can use (all you "think green" people, three objections to this b.s.: 1) Those bulbs give off the light of a candle; 2) They're very expensive; 3) They have mercury in them - how the hell are we supposed to dispose of them?).

I am against the government now thinking about bailing out unions. The unions made the contracts which include insane pensions; the U.S. government didn't. I'm against the government closing down offshore drilling in the Gulf with one hand and with the other giving (lending?) Brazil money to help them do way deeper offshore drilling -- rather curious. I'm against a government that will not defend our borders; and on and on and on.

As a lead-in to the next part of your question: Today it was announced that there would be no cost of living increase for Social Security recipients because "there's no inflation." I'd love to know what makes them think that! Where the hell do they shop? Prices have been rising for over a year. Inflation is a natural happening, I know. But why is it that suddenly food prices don't go up two or three or five cents, but instead they're going up 40, 50, 60 cents at a clip? No inflation my ass!

My anger stems from the unbelievable (criminal!) waste of money on pork and earmarks. It drives me nuts to see that X millions are being allocated to build a turtle tunnel, a donkey museum, a salamander crossing, etc, etc, etc. Billions spent every friggin' year on totally unnecessary crap so that these Congressbums can tell their constituents that they "brought home the bacon" and get re-elected. I'm sorry, but I don't want to pay for any Congress SOB's vote buying, and sure as hell not in these very very worrisome times!
I've think I've heard of the Velvet Underground but I have no recollection of anything they've done - they were not on my radar. I guess I can check YouTube to jog the memory.

Yeah, that didn't help.

German "heatball" wheeze outwits EU light bulb ban

Not sure what a "heatball" wheeze is, but it outwits dimwits.

A German entrepreneur is bypassing a European Union ban on light bulbs of more than 60 watts by marketing his own brand as mini heaters.

Siegfried Rotthaeuser and his brother-in-law have come up with a legal way of importing and distributing 75 and 100 watt light bulbs -- by producing them in China, importing them as "small heating devices" and selling them as "heatballs."
Gotta love it.

Chicago Political Update

Election officials in Chicago say Green Party candidate Rich Whitney is listed as Rich "Whitey" on some electronic-voting machines in Chicago.

That is all.

Do I Have This Straight?

The government misses the deadline for mailing absentee ballots to members of the military and other overseas American voters and now it's possible they won't be counted because the government, not the voter, missed the deadline. Let me guess, a Democrat run state - Illinois. Check. Voters being disenfranchised not likely to be voting for Democrats. Check. Hmmm. How convenient.

Kids Say the Darndest Things

I recently asked my friends' little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President of the United States . Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there. So I asked her, "If you were President, what would be the first thing you would do?" She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people." Her parents beamed.

"Wow...what a worthy goal," I told her. "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my driveway, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party." Her parents still aren't speaking to me.

Tautology

Government Greed

Those who are always accusing people in the private sector of "greed" almost never accuse government of greed, no matter what it does. Indeed, the question of whether the government is greedy almost never comes up, so most of us probably never think about it.

The first time I was forced to think about it was some years ago, when a bank notified me that the government was about to seize a bank account of mine, unless I took action. Since I didn't owe the government any money, and was not accused of any crime, I was baffled.

Equality in Helplessness

The anti-gun male

He often accuses men with guns of "compensating for something." The truth is quite the reverse. After all, how is he supposed to feel knowing there are men out there who aren't intimidated by the big bad inanimate villain? How is he to feel in the face of adolescent boys who have used the family gun effectively in defending the family from an armed intruder? So if he can't touch a gun, he doesn't want other men to be able to either. And to achieve his ends, he'll use the only weapon he knows how to manipulate: the law.

How Does This Philly Suburb Stop Crime?

By punishing the innocent, of course.

Philly Suburb Considers Fining Those Who Don't Lock Cars

So now the car window gets smashed and the owner, or insurance, has to pay for that too. At least the thefts won't be from cars left unlocked. How about seriously punishing those who steal instead of slapping them on the wrist?

Nationwide Is On Your Side

Whose side is God on?

During the Civil War someone asked Abraham Lincoln if he thought God was on the Union's side. Lincoln is said to have answered, "Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side."

Obama's Fairness at Work

Here's the way it works in ObamaWorld. Legislation is passed by the congress. It is then signed into the law by the president. At that point the law applies to everyone, right? Well ..... er .... no, actually. It seems that in ObamaWorld the law applies to whomever Obama thinks it should apply to ... and it doesn't apply to those Obama wants to skate free. That's the way we want it to work, right? The law is passed and goes on the books ... and then the president decides who has to obey and who doesn't.

Reason for Real Hope

Echoes of 1930s Germany?

Americans were shocked to see Obamacare rammed through the House and Senate on a party line vote. It came after nearly a million Americans had shown up at the steps of the Capital building to protest against it.

In effect, the Obama administration had declared war on Americans. It was not merely unresponsive to the majority, but contemptuous of it.

What Obama forgot or never knew is that our government exists with the consent of the governed. What he forgot or never knew is that our presidents govern, not rule.

Something quintessentially American occurred.

The same sense of unity and urgency that Americans felt after Pearl Harbor, that spurred the Greatest Generation to take on totalitarian threats in two theatres of combat, occurred in the rise of the Tea Party movement because many Americans perceived that their nation was literally under siege by an enemy and this time it was an internal one.

Little Red Buttons

Impertinent Questions: The Human Remainder

The Left always has trouble dealing with the human remainder from their draconian social calculations. Environmentalists have been muttering darkly about overpopulation for decades. Leftist governments, including the current American president, respond to double-digit unemployment with helpless confusion. Their carefully-designed societies crumble beneath the weight of superfluous people. Their plans rely on absolute compliance from captive populations. Given any amount of power, the Left almost immediately begins talking about censorship, in one form or another.

Free people admire renegades who put their money where their mouth is. Collectivists demand absolute obedience to their agenda, and prosecute thought crimes. Left to curl up on a thick bed of British taxpayer money, the 10:10 group began daydreaming of little red buttons that could erase the human remainder with grisly explosions. Totalitarians always find such notions hilarious. It was a bust in the Western world, but I’m sure “No Pressure” would have the elites of Havana and Pyongyang rolling in the aisles.
