Actually, this is probably not the most ridiculous law of 2013, just the most ridiculous law that came to the attention of and bothered the person writing this. There are crazy laws and regulations passed all the time that you have no idea about because it is impossible for anyone to keep track of them all. And, yes, increasingly these laws or regulations come from unaccountable, unelected czars. Welcome to the world of big government.

D.C. man who shot dogs biting boy could face charges

When the man, a neighbor, saw the boy being mauled by the dogs, he went inside his home and got a gun. The man killed one of the dogs. The gunfire attracted the attention of a police officer in the area near Eighth and Sheridan streets, where the attack occurred. The officer responded and shot the other two pit bulls as they continued to attack the boy.

Wow, that sounds horrible. But, apparently, he should have just minded his own business and let the dogs have their meal.

The man could face a host of charges depending on the specifics of the case, including whether the gun used is a registered firearm that the man was legally permitted to own, Mr. Gross said. Possession of an unregistered firearm or ammunition is punishable by up to one year in prison and a $1,000 fine, and determining whether the man legally possessed the gun used will likely have greater bearing on the way the case is handled, Mr. Gross said.

Also to be taken into consideration is whether the man was within his property line when he fired the weapon — a small but significant distinction. Mr. Gross said it could mean the difference in whether he could be charged with carrying a pistol without a license.

Ban the dogs!!! - for the sake of the children. We can't take the chance someone may have to save another child with a gun!!!

The Fontana Unified School District Police Department is refusing to leave students unprotected and has purchased 14 AR-15 semi-automatic rifles in response to a number of recent shootings in the U.S., several occurring at schools.

Superintendent Cali Olsen-Binks approved the purchase of the rifles, which are reportedly being stored in a locked safe intended for responding police officers during a shooting or attack,

OK. So we have 14 rifles locked up in the school for use by responding police officers. What is the point? Guns do no good locked in a safe while you wait for police. And don't police officers have their own guns?

There is no more common sense in America. It's gone. There doesn't seem to be common anything anymore. Common nonsense. Yes, there is common nonsense.

So I'm reading about this Texas college shooting and come across this:

The Lone Star Campus System is a gun-free zone (Obviously), Carpenter said. State officials said the school had a plan to handle a shooting or other emergency situation (again, obviously - it's "Call 911! and wait for help.").

"It has been safe for 40 years," Carpenter said. "We think it's still safe."

The truth is it has never really been safe. Just because no one brought a gun on campus intending to hurt someone before doesn't mean they couldn't. No place is ever really safe, criminals can walk, drive, take buses or taxis. There is no safety in this life and being completely oblivious to possible danger doesn't change that. You think you're safe in your house? So did Melissa Ketunuti.

Now I'm not saying you need to be paranoid, just be aware.

She did so in the wake of Pastor Louie Giglio’s unceremonious removal from the dais after the discovery he had preached a sermon 20 years ago expositing the Bible’s position on homosexuality. While it’s understandable that Evers-Williams would feel the need to temper her prayers, lest the current administration banish her from future public speaking engagements, her words represent a stunning departure from historical inaugural prayers and from anything resembling a Christian, Jewish, or even a generic Judeo-Christian prayer.

What America needs right now is politician control. Politicians are overstepping their bounds with impunity and trampling on the Constitution like it doesn't matter, and the Supreme Court mostly backs this heresy.

Now I know that God is patient. I know it from my own experience so it's a scary thing to think that eventually even God loses patience with a man. But He did. He made a decision to quit using Saul and move on to Plan B. From that point there was no need begging, pleading or even praying. The decision had been made in the 3rd heaven and the time had come to plan accordingly.

I think many Christians are making Samuel's mistake today in regard to America. They think they can change the mind of God by continual pleading. Now understand, I'm not a prophet nor do I claim a vision of divine revelation but I suspect a decision is already made about America and no amount of pleading will change it.

Nor am I sure when the decision was made. Maybe it was when America legalized abortion; maybe after the public approval of homosexuality; maybe with the rejection of God from textbooks and schools. There are abundant reasons to justify God's rejection of America as a protected and blessed nation!

But I was jarred into reality when I witnessed an entire political convention boo God. Now I'm left with a dilemma-I love my country but can I sincerely ask God to bless a country which has shown such contempt for God? I wonder what the Founding Fathers would do if they were alive today? I can't imagine John Adams or George Washington or even Ben Franklin going to war against England if the Continental Congress had expressed such disdain for God.

I don't know if there is no turning back, but I do know the road we are on leads to a tremendous amount of pain for a hell of a lot of people. It's hard knowing it is coming and not being able to do anything about it.
