Alexandria cops bust 10-year-old for bringing toy gun to school
The boy, a fifth-grader at Douglas MacArthur Elementary School whose name is not being released, was charged as a juvenile with brandishing a weapon, police said.How do you charge someone with brandishing a weapon if it wasn't a weapon? It was a plastic toy gun with an orange tip. Why do they have to get the police involved? That's child abuse. Playing with toy weapons is normal behavior - at least for boys. Just take it away and send a note home for the parents to come pick it up, then remind them that it is against school rules. That's all that is necessary. Anything beyond that is child abuse.
