You're an honest citizen who followed all the rules. When you left AnyTown, USA Airport, you were treated respectfully when you made your firearm declaration. Your luggage, with the TSA lockbox, was inspected and cheerfully accepted for your flight to JFK or LaGuardia and you had no problem retrieving your luggage in New York,” Kane’s website states. "But when you came to the airport to return home and followed the same approved procedure, all hell broke loose. You were arrested, spent several hours or overnight in custody, appeared before a judge where the DA asked for humongous bail, and you were finally released and told to come back with a lawyer. Now you're scared and fighting mad at the same time. What's going on?"

It's perfectly legal anywhere else but in New York it can get you a felony and 15 years in jail. There is no way that should ever happen to anyone, it's completely ridiculous. I think New Jersey is similar.

It's easy to say don't fly with a gun if you are going to New York, but what if you are not going to New York and your flight is diverted? They don't care, same thing happens.

My heart, too, supports same-sex marriage. But relying on the heart alone is a terribly flawed guide to social policy. And it is the Bible that has produced all of the world’s most compassionate societies.

This, then, is the great modern battle: the Bible and the heart vs. the heart alone.

When the survivors of the Holocaust speak, the rest of us would do well to listen. As one of the survivors of their liberation told his story, he included how the SS guards changed into civilian clothes and tried to hide. The G.I.s had the survivors point them out so they could be dealt with. Then he said something never to be forgotten: "These men were not human. Human beings don't do what they did." How literally should that be taken? Was he speaking figuratively, saying that the men responsible for the camps were lacking pity, kindness or mercy? Or was he speaking literally, suggesting a nonhuman class of beings?

Gay Marriage and the Dysfunctions of Modernity

The fact is, no one knows what will be the long-term effects of such a massive redefinition of society's most important social institution. Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan thought she scored some points when she demanded that the lawyer defending California's Proposition 8 tell her the exact "harm" gay marriage would cause. Of course, the point is that we don't know how such a social experiment will turn out, or what specific "harm" will follow, no more than we know the benefits. Nor can Kagan or anyone else assure us that no harm whatsoever will result from redefining an institution thousands of years old. That's why prudence is in order. Think back to the "liberationist" movements of the 60s that radically reshaped sexual mores and gender roles, which in turn led to easy divorce, abortion on demand, and guilt-free sexual experimentation. No one at the time, except for repressed and despised neo-puritanical squares, said anything about the possible harmful consequences of such massive social experimentation. We sure know now what they are -- fatherless children, broken homes, illegitimate birth, venereal plagues, sexuality dehumanized in popular culture, women debased into sexual instruments, and a declining birthrate that threatens our economic future.

Again, the spirit of evil behind the agenda, behind all of the destructive agendas of our time, is not interested in the happiness of gays, or about fairness, or about poor people. It is about destruction of what is and when the house of cards falls, it falls on all the people inside. ALL.

Be very careful what you wish for because you just might get it - along with all the consequences that come with it.

You Will Be Made to Care

In short, you may choose not to care and in so doing sit on the sidelines or give aid and comfort to the open minded and tolerant who want gay marriage so everyone can have equal rights.

But the world will one day make you care. Your church, should it open its doors to all, but refuse to perform a same sex wedding, will be accused of discrimination. In some places, the church will be forced to stop performing weddings. Many churches will lose their tax exempt status. The costs of sharing the gospel will go up.

Already Christians are being harassed by fellow American citizens for not wanting to participate in a gay marriage.

The time will come, more quickly than you can imagine, when you will be made to care.

It may appear, by my choice of quotes, that by evil I mean gays and that is not the case. The evil is behind and under the issue, it is using this issue, and many others, and cares not a whit for the people involved. When America falls - whatever form that takes- poor people and rich, gay or straight, black, white, hispanic or mixed-- we all go down together.

Meanwhile, China is still apparently sending back North Korean civilian defectors as well. Eight North Korean defectors who were caught by Chinese security officers in Yanji earlier this month were transferred to a camp for defectors in Tumen and all sent back across the border, according to a source.

Five of them were children, some of whom had reportedly scraped a living by begging for food.

Sent back to their deaths, no doubt. How heartless can people get? Wait, don't answer that. I don't want to plumb the depths of that darkness.

Dobbs was not satisfied with the school official's answer. She states that she does not feel that the crime fits the punishment. The conversation reiterated that he was not being disruptive or disrespectful in his actions. His "crime" was simply "shooting" at his friends with his fingers during playtime.

It's 100% normal behavior, it hurts NO ONE, little boys who play cops and robbers, or whatever, grow up to be normal adults. Little kids who are ABUSED by school teachers and government schools will be the ones who grow up with deep psychological problems. Read how the mother tries to reason with school officials. You can't reason with school officials, they are unreasonable. He's 3 years old! Why are your kids still in government schools?

Creating irrational fears in children is abusive. Also damaging to young souls and minds is the institutionalized squelching of the imagination and the subverting of rationality (kids know that gun-shaped Pop Tarts can't hurt them), both evident in the Pop Tart incident. One wonders if the cogs in this machine ever speculate on the real purpose behind bureaucratic promotion of absurd, arbitrary rules, baseless fears, and mental paralysis. Hint: In what kind of society is a cowering populace a necessity?

And they are doubling down on this stuff, they make no apologies, they give no quarter. And you're OK with that? Where is the outrage, except among the few?

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded $1.5 million to study biological and social factors for why "three-quarters" of lesbians are obese and why gay males are not, calling it an issue of "high public-health significance."

It's a bit of a read to get through what is said to have happened, and I'd really like to see video of the event, but in the end:

She was arrested and booked for "terroristic threats" and "contempt."

Terroristic threats? The Fort Hood shooter (Hasan) was never even charged with terroristic anything - and he killed 13 people. He was "charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder by the Army;" No terrorism.

Why are they so quick to label Americans as terrorists or possible terrorists when they go out of their way to avoid calling REAL terrorist what they are? And they are dumbfounded when we ask Eric Holder if they think they can target American citizens with drones?

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is continuing to criticize his fellow Republicans for their filibuster of incoming CIA Director John O. Brennan over drone policy. In an interview with the Huffington Post, McCain referred to Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) as "wackos."

Huffington Post? And he is calling other people wackos? There is only one reason I vote Republican. ONE. There is no other choice that has a legitimate chance to win an election. But I am honestly on the verge of not caring anymore. Other will be getting my vote. John McCain is the Republican Biden.

Hundreds of pom-poms and knitted items have been strung from trees and lampposts to help reduce the fear of crime in an area of Leicester.

Leicestershire Police hope the "guerilla knitting" or "yarn bombing" will encourage more people to use Bede Park and Great Central Way.

People are not using Bede Park and Great Central Way - presumably because of crime - so they want to encourage people to go there anyway and not fear the crime. Because criminals and police officers need the work?

Japanese man dies after being turned away from 25 hospitals

The man, who lived alone in a city north of Tokyo, called an ambulance after suffering breathing problems at his home in January.

Paramedics rushed to his house but were told in turn by all 25 hospitals in the area that they could not accept the man because they did not have enough doctors or any free beds, a local city official said, adding some institutions were contacted more than once.

Yes, My Son, It Is Okay To Hit People

A couple of months ago, while attending a play group with my four-year-old son and one-year-old daughter, another little two-year-old girl lashed out and hit another child. Her mother, ripe with indignation, swept the girl into her arms and scolded, "No! It is NEVER okay to hit people."

My skin crawled. The scenarios flowed through my head and I couldn't restrain myself.

"Would you tell her that if she was being abducted?" I asked.

The mother stopped and blinked a few times and then stuttered, "Well... that's different."

"Yes, it is," I said. "But you just told her that it was never okay to hit people. That's not entirely true. There are times it's okay to hit people and to hit them hard."

Reich: Tea Party 'Conspiracy to Undermine the Government of the United States'

Reich, who has steadfastly supported President Barack Obama's big-government, tax-and-spend agenda, wrote that the Tea Party had "infiltrated" the government at every level, and had used the budget cuts in the sequester to begin "dismantling pieces of it." He outlined the rest of his conspiracy theory at the left-wing Salon.com:

Imagine a plot to undermine the government of the United States, to destroy much of its capacity to do the public’s business, and to sow distrust among the population.

Imagine further that the plotters infiltrate Congress and state governments, reshape their districts to give them disproportionate influence in Washington, and use the media to spread big lies about the government.

Finally, imagine they not only paralyze the government but are on the verge of dismantling pieces of it.

Far-fetched? Perhaps. But take a look at what’s been happening in Washington and many state capitals since Tea Party fanatics gained effective control of the Republican Party, and you’d be forgiven if you see parallels.

Wow, "the Tea Party had "infiltrated" the government at every level" in, like, 5 years. In fact, and let me quote the Wikipedia article:

The Tea Party movement is not easily defined, primarily because there is not a single "Tea Party." It consists of hundreds of groups at the grassroots level, of varying size, influence and priorities. It is highly factionalized, with no clear leadership or centralized structure.

it did all Robert Reich claims "with no clear leadership or centralized structure." Now that's incredible! That's amazing considering it took communists many decades to finally get to the point of fundamentally changing our government and then claiming America has always been a socialist nation and anyone who disagrees and tries to block their fundamental change is a terrorist.

The problems is, the young people they are teaching believe them. It's going to get much worse before it gets better.

Nurse Refused to Give CPR to a Dying Woman

An elderly California woman died after a nurse at her senior living facility refused to perform CPR, despite a 911 dispatcher begging her over the phone.

Instead, the nurse said the facility's policy prohibited her from stepping in to save the woman's life.

"It's a human being," dispatcher Tracey Halvorson said in 911 audio released by the Bakersfield, Calif. fire department, according to the Los Angeles Times. "Is there anybody that's willing to help this lady and not let her die?"

"Not at this time," came the answer.

And the love of many will wax cold.

It's Preposterous

Mayor Bloomberg on spending money we don't have:

"We are spending money we don’t have," Mr. Bloomberg explained. "It's not like your household. In your household, people are saying, ‘Oh, you can’t spend money you don’t have.’ That is true for your household because nobody is going to lend you an infinite amount of money. When it comes to the United States federal government, people do seem willing to lend us an infinite amount of money. … Our debt is so big and so many people own it that it's preposterous to think that they would stop selling us more. It's the old story: If you owe the bank $50,000, you got a problem. If you owe the bank $50 million, they got a problem. And that's a problem for the lenders. They can’t stop lending us more money."

So that's how it works, eh. Well, since we're talking an infinite amount of money, how about giving all of us a million dollars a year? No more poor! Imagine! It's preposterous to think that would be a problem.

Schools Becoming Child Abuse Centers

Schools locked down over "ambiguous message" taken as threat

Beaver County schools had their lives "flipped, turned upside down" Thursday morning when a phone greeting involving the theme song from the 1990s sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" was taken as a threat.

All schools in the county were advised to lock down for about 20 minutes while police searched for a 19-year-old Ambridge Area High School student whose greeting to callers was mistakenly taken as a threat about "shooting people outside of the school."

The actual line from the song is "And all shooting some b-ball outside of the school."

Aren't they embarrassed to be so stupid? Doesn't someone - anyone - between the school secretary to the police department have any sense at all. Seriously. They locked down all the schools and took the kid (who was in the guidance office) into custody because he sang the theme song to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air on his voice mail greeting?

"The procedures in place were efficient and quickly implemented and proved to be successful,"

Successful? It's the exact opposite of successful. They double down on stupid. It's child abuse.



They make it sound like it's funny in this newscast. And police say the student has learned his lesson? What lesson is there for the student? That adults are idiots? It took the police 3 hours and searching his locker to determine there was no threat? Couldn't they just listen to his phone greeting before flying off the handle? And yes, you can be too careful.

Americans renouncing citizenship to become British thanks to tax rise

London-based American lawyers, who specialise in tax and immigration, report a threefold increase over the last five years in the number of American citizens who are giving up their citizenship - a process known as "renunciation".

Across the world 1,781 Americans renounced their citizenship in 2011 compared with just 231 in 2008, when US tax laws changed, although it remains unknown how many are adopting British rather than any other nationality.

Apparently not so seriously. Who would go from America to England because of high taxes? No way it could make that much difference.

Many decide to give up their American citizenship after tiring of the lengthy US tax return process, which requires them to pay tax on their total income regardless of where they live.

Well, I suppose if you are already living there with no plans to move. Still, the headline is very misleading as it says in the 2nd paragraph the number of people adopting Britain are unknown with 1,782 renouncing citizenship worldwide - hardly a "surge."

As sequestration nears, federal workers brace for furloughs, vent anger at politicians

The 48-year-old building engineer at the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing hasn’t had a cost-of-living pay raise in more than two years, even as his rent and insurance premiums went up. Now he and other federal workers in Washington and across the country are bracing for possible unpaid furloughs as part of an $85 billion reduction in federal spending.

"Rent's due the first of the month whether I'm furloughed or not," said Blevins, who commutes from his home in Culpeper, Va., to his night shift job in Washington. "You just really have to squeeze a little more out of each dollar. That's just what it comes down to."

Oh look, the people in Washington are starting to feel what the rest of us have been going through the past 5 years.

All across the D.C. area and the rest of the country, federal workers like Blevins are having tense, belt-tightening conversations with spouses, kids and co-workers. They’re canceling little luxuries such as cable, cellphone service, restaurants and movie nights, putting off long-planned vacations and searching for second jobs. Some are thinking about raiding their 401(k)s for emergency cash.

I haven't had cable in years, and I haven't been to a movie except the time I won free tickets. And what's this vacation he's talking about? And I consider myself blessed, so many are much worse off.

"I am a registered Republican. However, I blame the Republican Party for this," said Gregory Russell, a 48-year-old federal firefighter at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. Russell calculates he’d lose about $1,200 a month – about 20 percent of his pay – if he gets furloughed.

The ex-workers in the rest of America are lucky if they are getting $1,200 a month - and he's worried about 20 percent of his pay. Boo, hoo.

The Washington D.C. area has been having a gold rush while the rest of America crumbles. Literally crumbles in many cases. And yet the media - as this article does - continues to blame Republicans for all the troubles. The Republicans couldn't fight their way out a paper bag at this point, let alone get in the way of the Democrat Demolition Crew.

There is no doubt that the anti-gun crowd has targeted the AR-15 rifle. The amount of incorrect information that they are pushing out about the AR-15 is amazing. And the worst part is that some people are buying into the lies.

I think that most of us would agree that, in general, the media loves to join in on the AR-15 demonizing bandwagon. Story after story tries to convince us that the AR-15 is something it is not. But I was very pleasantly surprised by this story that was just released by a Connecticut news station. The goal of the story was to actually clarify the facts surrounding the AR-15.

1. It's made in America. That's been getting hard to come by over the years.
2. Cool factor. It works good, it looks good. It has a history. It's flexible. I can protect my family if I need to, I can hunt with it if I choose, I can compete with it, I can just have fun plinking. I can do all that with a choice of many different calibers. The options for owner customization are unparalleled in the gun world, bringing us to the next point.
3. It's customizable, I can make it my own. It's easy to work on. It's relatively inexpensive.
   
   Like a lot of Americans I used to like to work on cars. It used to be you had endless options to make your car your own. That is no longer the case, the price of customizing a car has risen to unaffordable levels and modern cars all have proprietary computer systems that the average shade tree mechanic can no longer work on.
   
   Motorcycles fit the bill for a while but even motorcycles have been modernized with computers and prices have risen to unaffordable luxury level for many of us.
   
   Much like the Harley Davidson, I can buy a stock AR-15 off the shelf. I can customize it a little or a lot. I can build a complete AR-15 from parts myself if I so choose - and I do- and I can do all that for just about $1000.00. At least I could before the gun ban threat.

The AR-15 is a great rifle, it's fun and it's as safe as a rifle can be. There are millions of them in the hands of your fellow Americans and the number of people harmed by them is infinitesimally small in comparison. We would save more people banning swimming pools or ladders rather than the AR-15.

14-year-old hit by 30,000 mph space meteorite

Gerrit Blank, 14, was on his way to school when he saw "ball of light" heading straight towards him from the sky. A red hot, pea-sized piece of rock then hit his hand before bouncing off and causing a foot wide crater in the ground.

The teenager survived the strike, the chances of which are just 1 in a million - but with a nasty three-inch long scar on his hand.

He said: "At first I just saw a large ball of light, and then I suddenly felt a pain in my hand.

"Then a split second after that there was an enormous bang like a crash of thunder."

"The noise that came after the flash of light was so loud that my ears were ringing for hours afterwards.

"When it hit me it knocked me flying and then was still going fast enough to bury itself into the road," he explained.

There's No Sense of Humor in Government

Police are under investigation for jokingly filling in a witness statement in the name of a force dog.

Officers became exasperated when prosecutors asked for an account of a crime from a ‘PC Peach’, not realising Peach was the name of a police dog.

So they completed the form as if it had been written by the alsatian, and signed it with a paw print.

The dog’s statement read: ‘I chase him. I bite him. Bad man. He tasty. Good boy. Good boy Peach.’

That's funny. It was obviously meant in good humor.

The CPS (Crown Prosecution Service), however, failed to see the funny side. Officials are believed to have complained to police that their mistake has been turned into a very public joke.

If we are following them and something needs to be adjusted, fine, adjust it. But don't ignore the laws and then say we have to reform immigration. We don't need immigration reform, we need government reform.

'A Tragic Misinterpretation'

Details emerge in LAPD's mistaken shooting of newspaper carriers

It was around 5 a.m. in Torrance on Thursday and police from nearby El Segundo had seen a pickup truck exit a freeway and head in the general direction of the Redbeam Avenue residence of a high-ranking Los Angeles police official, which was being guarded by a group of LAPD officers.

Police were on the lookout for Christopher Jordan Dorner, a disgruntled ex-cop suspected of hunting down members of the LAPD and their families in a twisted campaign of revenge. The radio call indicated that the truck matched the description of Dorner's gray Nissan Titan.

A few minutes later, a truck slowly rolled down the quiet residential street.

As the vehicle approached the house, officers opened fire, unloading a barrage of bullets into the back of the truck. When the shooting stopped, they quickly realized their mistake. The truck was not a Nissan Titan, but a Toyota Tacoma. The color wasn't gray, but aqua blue. And it wasn't Dorner inside the truck, but a woman and her mother delivering copies of the Los Angeles Times.

It's the Mental Illness

Woman showed up at Charleston school intending to kill, police say

The woman arrested with a loaded pistol outside a downtown private school Monday was trying to kill people, but she couldn’t get the gun to fire, according to Charleston police. Alice Boland, a 28-year-old Beaufort woman with a history of mental illness, was arrested at Ashley Hall on Rutledge Avenue.

Mental illness is the common denominator in most, if not all, of the horrific killings that we have suffered. I only say most because I don't have scientific evidence to back it up - most likely it's all. And most of the time people who have come into contact with the person will remember that, yes, that person had a serious problem. But what can you do? I knew a guy who - if he had a gun - I have no doubt would have used it to kill someone - at least. And I'm not the only one who thought so. All his co-workers knew, his neighbors, and at least two police officers that I knew - more actually, because they also had been called to his house by neighbors. I personally spoke on several occasions to the 2 police officers and there is nothing that can be done unless he does something illegal.

I don't pretend to have the answer about what to do for people like this but I know it's not leave them alone. Psychiatric hospitals can be a sensitive subject but I believe they have a role in helping to curb this problem. There are homeless people right now that need one, the majority of the long term homeless are mentally ill. We need to be helping these people, not putting them out on the street to fend for themselves. And we need to figure out a way to get help for those who are obviously not right in the head but managing to live in society. It's hard, a lot harder than banning guns. But banning guns is not the answer.

The boy, a fifth-grader at Douglas MacArthur Elementary School whose name is not being released, was charged as a juvenile with brandishing a weapon, police said.

How do you charge someone with brandishing a weapon if it wasn't a weapon? It was a plastic toy gun with an orange tip. Why do they have to get the police involved? That's child abuse. Playing with toy weapons is normal behavior - at least for boys. Just take it away and send a note home for the parents to come pick it up, then remind them that it is against school rules. That's all that is necessary. Anything beyond that is child abuse.

They Ruin Everything

I had been watching and enjoying the new Hawaii Five-0 the past few seasons but tonight I lost my taste for it. In what I believe is the first show with an English title (Hookman) they went anti-gun, making a gun shop owner look like an idiot and a kook and Danny angrily ranting screaming about guns killing people - "...no guns, no killing. It's that simple." I can't even finish watching the show. I'm done.

There was a local gun show the weekend after it happened and it was not packed, no one was buying everything in sight and there was no rush to buy AR-15's or AK's. The panic buying was the response to the news that the government was going to reinstate the "assault weapons" ban - only stronger. That was when people started the buying frenzy.

What I find loathsome, Dave, is people who paint millions of law-abiding, decent people as evil because their hobby is shooting or they have guns for self-defense. It takes willful ignorance to not understand the difference between a criminal and a law-abiding citizen.

In fact, it was the anti-gunners on the left who were sitting on this legislation waiting to take advantage of a tragedy so they could push it through while emotions were high. Witness New York. That is also loathsome.

Personal Defense Weapons

Why are they called personal defense weapons when the government buys them, but assault weapons when I buy them?

The Department of Homeland Security is seeking to acquire 7,000 5.56x45mm NATO "personal defense weapons" (PDW) — also known as “assault weapons” when owned by civilians.

Citing a General Service Administration (GSA) request for proposal (RFP), Steve McGough of RadioViceOnline.com reports that DHS is asking for the 7,000 "select-fire" firearms because they are "suitable for personal defense use in close quarters." The term select-fire means the weapon can be both semi-automatic and automatic. Civilians are prohibited from obtaining these kinds of weapons.

The civilian version is NOT select-fire, they are semi-automatic only. So the rip-roaring full auto version is a "personal defense weapon" in the hands of the government but the tamer semi-auto version, in the hands of a civilian, is an "assault rifle".

The fact of the matter is the Obama administration, the progressives in power, want to disarm the American public. That is their goal and the reason has NOTHING to do with children. They don't care about your kids, they don't care about you. They are engineering a complete transformation of the United States which includes a new constitution - they probably have a working copy if not a completed version - and are getting to the point where there will be strong resistance from the populace. They don't want anyone shooting back.

D.C. man who shot dogs biting boy could face charges

When the man, a neighbor, saw the boy being mauled by the dogs, he went inside his home and got a gun. The man killed one of the dogs. The gunfire attracted the attention of a police officer in the area near Eighth and Sheridan streets, where the attack occurred. The officer responded and shot the other two pit bulls as they continued to attack the boy.

Wow, that sounds horrible. But, apparently, he should have just minded his own business and let the dogs have their meal.

The man could face a host of charges depending on the specifics of the case, including whether the gun used is a registered firearm that the man was legally permitted to own, Mr. Gross said. Possession of an unregistered firearm or ammunition is punishable by up to one year in prison and a $1,000 fine, and determining whether the man legally possessed the gun used will likely have greater bearing on the way the case is handled, Mr. Gross said.

Also to be taken into consideration is whether the man was within his property line when he fired the weapon — a small but significant distinction. Mr. Gross said it could mean the difference in whether he could be charged with carrying a pistol without a license.

The truth is it has never really been safe. Just because no one brought a gun on campus intending to hurt someone before doesn't mean they couldn't. Now I know that God is patient. I know it from my own experience so it's a scary thing to think that eventually even God loses patience with a man. But He did. He made a decision to quit using Saul and move on to Plan B. From that point there was no need begging, pleading or even praying. The decision had been made in the 3rd heaven and the time had come to plan accordingly.

I think many Christians are making Samuel's mistake today in regard to America. They think they can change the mind of God by continual pleading. Now understand, I'm not a prophet nor do I claim a vision of divine revelation but I suspect a decision is already made about America and no amount of pleading will change it.

Nor am I sure when the decision was made. Maybe it was when America legalized abortion; maybe after the public approval of homosexuality; maybe with the rejection of God from textbooks and schools. There are abundant reasons to justify God's rejection of America as a protected and blessed nation!

But I was jarred into reality when I witnessed an entire political convention boo God. Now I'm left with a dilemma-I love my country but can I sincerely ask God to bless a country which has shown such contempt for God? I wonder what the Founding Fathers would do if they were alive today? I can't imagine John Adams or George Washington or even Ben Franklin going to war against England if the Continental Congress had expressed such disdain for God.

I don't know if there is no turning back, but I do know the road we are on leads to a tremendous amount of pain for a hell of a lot of people. It's hard knowing it is coming and not being able to do anything about it.

I'll tell you what is reprehensible: Sending children into make-believe gun-free zones and pretending they are safe, claiming that a good guy with a gun in a school wouldn't do anything to make the kids safer. They say guns don't make people safer and then surround themselves with people with guns - and take your right to protect yourself away from you. If guns don't make you safer, then why do they surround themselves and their families with people with guns? I don't see police walking around unarmed either. Why? Wouldn't be safe?

What is also reprehensible is the "my way or the highway" approach that is being taken by this administration and New York officials, and surrounding yourself with 8-year-olds and reading the letters their teacher made them write and acting as if they had more sense than an 8-year-old. An 8-year-old doesn't understand all the intricacies that surround this issue and, apparently, neither do progressives. Or do they know all to well? Is that why they want our guns?

Another thing that is reprehensible is demonizing good, decent, law-abiding, patriotic Americans for doing nothing more than owning a gun. Absolutely reprehensible. Guns are not evil and they do not make a person evil. Period.



Gun-free zones belong in the same category as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy. The only people they disarm are law-abiding citizens. No one is asking for secret service to protect our schools, just some common sense. If a teacher or principal (any school worker) is comfortable with guns, has a concealed carry permit and perhaps takes an additional safety course for school carry, then they should be allowed to carry their gun - concealed,and on their person at all times - to school. No student need ever know. And this is completely different than arming teachers. We don't need to arm teachers. Most teachers are not interested and it wouldn't work.

There are many other reasonable steps schools can take to protect the children and having a security guard or two should be considered. They don't even have to be uniformed, probably shouldn't be, just a nicely dressed person with a concealed weapon.

Also, schools spend a lot of money on fire alarms and fire suppression systems. And they have regular fire drills. When was the last time you heard of a fire at a school? Yet we don't question the need for these things. Firearms are the same. Guns don't kill people, the mentally ill do

Taking guns away from single women who live alone and other law-abiding citizens without mental illnesses will do nothing about the Chos, Loughners, Holmeses or Lanzas. Such people have to be separated from civil society, for the public’s sake as well as their own. But this is nearly impossible because the ACLU has decided that being psychotic is a civil right.

Guns Are So Completely Not the Problem

Guns are a distraction from the real problems, restrictive gun laws are just a feel good measure that will do nothing except hurt honest, patriotic, good people, and make believe gun-free zones make the emotionally immature feel safe but are targeted by the sick, twisted, evil animals who don't live by the same rules you and I do.

Are Guns the Problem?

Customs, traditions, moral values and rules of etiquette, not laws and government regulations, are what make for a civilized society. These behavioral norms -- transmitted by example, word of mouth and religious teachings -- represent a body of wisdom distilled through ages of experience, trial and error, and looking at what works. The importance of customs, traditions and moral values as a means of regulating behavior is that people behave themselves even if nobody's watching. Police and laws can never replace these restraints on personal conduct so as to produce a civilized society. At best, the police and criminal justice system are the last desperate line of defense for a civilized society. The more uncivilized we become the more laws that are needed to regulate behavior.

Many customs, traditions and moral values have been discarded without an appreciation for the role they played in creating a civilized society, and now we're paying the price. What's worse is that instead of a return to what worked, people want to replace what worked with what sounds good, such as zero-tolerance policies in which bringing a water pistol, drawing a picture of a pistol, or pointing a finger and shouting "bang-bang" produces a school suspension or arrest.

Headed for Trouble

Over the years I have done many radio programs about ancient Israel and Judah. It's always amazed me how patient God was with them. Maybe they believed they could get away with their sins, but they didn't. Maybe that's where we are as a people. This week Planned Parenthood boasted that they performed one abortion every 94 seconds and that this was their best year yet financially.

Israel and Judah's most intolerable sin was the sexual abuse of children and child sacrifice. What about us, do we think we can get a way with it? How much longer will a just God allow us to keep slaughtering helpless innocent babies in abortion clinics. Planned Parenthood reports record year for abortions

In its latest annual report for fiscal year 2011 to 2012, Planned Parenthood reveals that it performed 333,964 abortions in 2011 – a record year for the organization.

According to annual reports, the organization performed 332,278 abortions in 2009, 329,445 in 2010, making the total number of abortions in three years to 995,687.

Planned Parenthood reported receiving a record $542 million in taxpayer funding, according to a Susan B. Anthony List analysis of the report, in the form of government grants, contracts, and Medicaid reimbursements. The amount is 45 percent of Planned Parenthood’s annual revenue.

Roe v. Wade, 40 years later

Even if you don't own a gun and never want to and, yes, even if you live in New Jersey, if we lose the right to keep and bear arms your life will be effected negatively. Crime will increase, you will lose ever more freedoms. They are already running roughshod over the Constitution and they are forever testing the limits of what they can get a way with. They have shown no interest in actually getting a handle on crime and if you ask me it is because they are criminals - just on a whole other scale. Lawbreakers can't bring themselves to punish other lawbreakers.

Guns in the hands of good people protect us all. Just knowing they are there offers a level of protection. Politicians are very aware and that is why they want to take them.

She Did It Right

She even went further than she had to, they hid themselves in the attic but the guy just couldn't be satisfied with that and went after them.

By the way, the man is not dead and if he had been on drugs or alcohol or just been very determined, those 5 shots may not have stopped him. There are no guarantees in self defense and you don't know how many bullets it will take to stop the attacker until after he stops.

Stop Trying to Control the World!

So, the people who need the painkillers - now, in the emergency room - have to suffer because Michael Bloomberg wants to look like he's doing something to save the world.

Personally, I think they should do away with most prescription medication, it should be available over the counter just like aspirin or cold medicine, with the exception of drugs that require - really require - monitoring by a doctor or pose a threat of loss of life in small quantities.

What about people who abuse drugs? Well, what about people who abuse alcohol? They will do it anyway. Most people won't. Most people will be smart about it. Why do we want to live in a society that operates at the lowest common denominator. We are all treated like we have no self control. Most of us do. Or will if we have to. Living in a nanny state causes loss of self control. Do something with the criminals and leave the rest of us alone.

The fiscal frenzy that has seized French socialists is not only grinding France’s economy to a halt; it is also attacking the very foundations of French society by destroying entrepreneurship and responsibility. Taxes are raining down on French citizens, and the promised “benefits” often seem to disappear before they have even been introduced. The French government’s 2013 finance bill has announced confiscatory tax rates on incomes and capital gains, and payroll taxes will be increased as well. But the socialists are shooting themselves in the foot, as such tax rates will destroy wealth and drive out entrepreneurs, capital, businesses, and young people. Thus, tax revenues will ultimately not rise but fall.

The message could not be clearer: The number of requests by French citizens to leave France are suddenly up by 400 to 500 percent.

Windows 8 Is Great

I was not really interested in getting Windows 8 as I was very happy with Windows 7 and I kept reading about how difficult it was to work with Windows 8. Someone said all programs open full screen and you can only use one at a time, many said it was not intuitive and if you don't have a touchscreen it's not worth using - too difficult. They were wrong.

My son was having problems with his computer and I ended up replacing the power supply to fix it, but it kept freezing on him and was slow. He doesn't have a really great computer and it came with Windows Vista. After I replaced the power supply I decided to upgrade him to Windows 8 (only $39.95) because his brother got a Windows 8 computer and he liked it. It downloaded and installed with no problems whatsoever and did wonders for the computer. It is actually a joy to use and much faster. He loves it. He did have to reinstall his programs because the install doesn't keep them if you upgrade from Vista - it does keep them if you upgrade from Windows 7 - but he didn't have many and it did keep all his personal files intact.

After seeing it and using it on his computer I decided I would upgrade my laptop. I was a little apprehensive about it but it turned out fine. When I went to the desktop for the first time it looked and worked exactly like it did before - except the start button. The start screen can be accessed by moving the mouse to the lower left hand corner of the screen and clicking on the little square that pops up or, much easier, just press the Windows key to toggle between start screen and desktop. Super easy.

All standard programs work as they did before but there are also apps, just like on your smart phone. The apps, accessed from the Start Screen, open full screen only. Using the apps, closing them, and switching between them is very easy with the mouse. I have no problems at all. Move the mouse all the way to the left top corner to find the last used app or desktop, swipe downward to open a list of all open apps. You can choose them or close them from there. You can also close an app by moving the mouse to the top of the screen, hold the left mouse button and drag to the bottom. Easy, easy, easy. It works fine.

The only problems I had: I had to reinstall the mouse/pointer device driver because I lost the ability to scroll by moving my finger up or down along the right side of the mouse pad. It works fine now. I also had a problem with Comodo Firewall, it didn't work right and kept freezing when I tried to uninstall. I reinstalled the new program from Comodo and it crashed the computer. I uninstalled Comodo - I didn't like the new version anyway - and all is good once again. It uninstalled fine after I installed the new version. I am using the Windows firewall. One more thing was I had to reinstall the driver/program for Bluetooth. I've never once used it but installed it anyway, works fine now. Sony is not supporting Windows 8 on my laptop (too old, I guess) but it works like a charm anyway. I installed the Windows 7 drivers, they work. I use VLC Player for playing DVDs. Windows 8 does not play DVDs, you have to download a separate program. VLC is a great, free program and plays everything except encrypted BluRay. I was using it in Windows 7 as I especially like that the sound can be increased to 200% which helps with the laptop.

I don't miss the start button. My concern was accessing things like Device Manager, Control Panel and things like that. Move the mouse pointer to the lower left corner and right click. There is your menu for all that. No problem. The start screen can be modified to show what you want, programs, apps, whatever. I don't need the start button. I installed one of the Start Menu programs on my sons computer and he didn't like it. I tried it, it was fine but unnecessary. Uninstalled.

Windows 8 is great.

Government Fiasco

Chris Christie came on the scene slamming, but has been going downhill ever since, he probably hasn't hit bottom yet but he's way too low for me. He's just another New Jersey, push your weight around, mob-style boss.

The Sandy Sham

Between NY Rep. Peter King and now New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Republicans in Congress, and particularly House Speaker John Boehner, have endured a bludgeoning. Over what? Over their failure to consider this Sandy-sham bill. Christie said that there is only one group to blame: The House Majority and John Boehner. He says, “It was disappointing and disgusting to watch. Shame on you, shame on Congress.” Christie’s never one to mince words, and just because he’s a Republican doesn’t mean he isn’t going to give it to members of his own party when he feels he deserves it. However, did they deserve it?

Well let’s see … if the Sandy relief bill had actually been for hurricane relief efforts, then a frustrated drubbing from Christie and others would be understandable. But the Sandy bill wasn’t just for hurricane relief efforts. It was just another pathetic, pork-laden bill disguised as legislation for a worthy cause. If someone can definitively prove how the following expenditures in the bill are related to Superstorm Sandy relief, then maybe the Republicans should reconsider their opposition:

* $150 million for Alaskan fisheries.

* $8 million for cars for the Homeland Security and Justice departments.

* $2 million for the Smithsonian to repair roofs damaged before Sandy.

* $336 million in Amtrak expenses

Yeah, I didn’t think so. It’s clear that these people in Washington are never going to learn when it comes to these pet projects, and it is also clear that we Americans are never really willing or capable of holding their feet to the fire on the issue. But back to Chris Christie, perhaps his frustration should have been directed at those who chose to use this bill as a vehicle for pork projects and thus render it unpassable (is that a word?). It sucked. Is that better?

My question is this: Why do we need congress to pass some special hurricane Sandy bill when we have FEMA, for one. This is not our first rodeo. We have had plenty of natural disasters, plenty of whole towns wiped out, but we are not prepared to help our neighbors? What does FEMA actually do anyway? What is the point of having a huge government agency to help when disasters strike and then not be able to do anything without an act of congress? Does anyone else see the problem here?

A second point: We can clearly see that the government is incapable of helping in a time of crisis, they just can't be there when the need is greatest. WHY DO WE WANT TO LET THEM DISARM US SO THAT WE CAN'T EVEN PROTECT OURSELVES IN A CRISIS?

The American people have gone completely mad letting our "leaders" go on as they do. Why do we have to be exceptional? Why can't we be just like all the other countries? History has already played that record and we know how it ends - at least those of us who are paying attention do.

I only want to add that the civilian AR-15 is not the military grade assault rifle the media leads you to believe, it is a step down being only a semi-automatic and not fully automatic as military weapons are. So the above point is actually stronger as modern civilian weaponry is not as equal to modern military weaponry as it was in 1789.
