I always thought it awkward for the woman on Fox news having to sit on that sofa with their legs tightly crossed but I've noticed - at least in the early morning hours - they have a new set consisting of two high bar stool type chairs out in the open, usually occupied by two woman in very short dresses with legs tightly crossed - in fact looking like their legs are glued together. How uncomfortable can you make your reporters?

Don't they know you can do attractive without the gimmicks.

When someone dies doing a dangerous thing, something that maybe they should not have been doing but for whatever reason they did, it is a tragedy. They didn't deserve the consequences of their actions but it WAS one of the consequences. They did it, they didn't have to do it, they chose to do it, the law of probability caught up with them. Done. Sucks, but we accept it.

It's 2am, I'm at work, I'm watching someone walking through the parking lot looking at the cars, they don't look like they belong there but they haven't done anything wrong. I'm just looking. This actually happens to me quite often. This is usually as far as it goes. He sees me, again, not unusual. I don't care if he sees me, I work here, it's my right to watch out for the place.

This time he takes offense but walks out of sight. I go back to my business. Next thing I know he attacks me, I fall. He's on top of me, he's bigger and stronger and I can't fight him off.

Do I know what his intentions are? Do I know if he has a weapon he hasn't gotten around to using yet? Do I know when he will stop - when I'm unconscious? Or dead? I have no clue, I didn't do anything to this guy. What do I do? Just be a victim? No, I live in Florida, I have a concealed weapons license and I'm carrying. I am able to get to the weapon and manage to get off a shot, he falls to the side. I get up and call 911. He dies from his injury.

Tragic? Yes. His family is upset, they don't think he deserved to die, he probably didn't. I didn't want to kill him, I just wanted him to stop attacking me. I used the necessary means to do so. In a life and death situation it is all or nothing. There's no time to test different degrees of force to see what works, you need him to stop - now.

This is a situation I never want to find myself in. The after effects of a self-defense situation like this are devastating to the deceased, to the victim who had to defend himself and to the families of both.

You have just ended the life of some mother’s child. You may have stared into the eyes of this person as the life drained out of them. You may have listened to the death rattle as they took their last breath. You may have heard this person’s last words, or you may have simply watched them kick until they were still.

Whichever, you have just breached the most sacred of Man’s taboos. You have done something that cannot be taken back, and you have done the single most powerful, awful thing one human being may do to another.

In addition, you’re going to be so jazzed on adrenaline that your teeth will hurt. Endorphins will mask any pain — and failing to find pain, they will be tweaking your inhibitions in 23 different directions. Your mind will have played tricks on you — sounds will have gone squirrelly; time will have done weird things.

And worst of all, you probably won’t remember entire sequences of what just happened. Self-doubt is going to jump on your back like an 800-pound gorilla with cold feet and clammy hands.

And you will want someone — anyone — to understand that you were forced to do this terrible act. You will want someone — anyone — to know, to understand, that you had no choice in breaking the ancient taboo against killing.

You dream escape, you plan escape, you live in fear. Constant fear.

It was time. "Let's run!" he yelled.

Their plan had been for Shin to stay in the lead until they got clear of the fence, but he slipped and fell to his knees on the icy patrol trail.

Park was first to the fence. Falling to his knees, he shoved his arms, head and shoulders between the two lowest strands of wire. Seconds later, Shin saw sparks and smelled burning flesh.

Most electric fences built for security purposes repel trespassers with a painful but exceedingly brief pulse of current. Lethal electric fences, however, use a continuous current that can make a person lock on to the wire as voltage causes involuntary muscle contractions, paralysis and death.

Before Shin could get to his feet, Park had stopped moving. The weight of his body pulled down the bottom strand of wire, pinning it against the snowy ground and creating a small gap in the fence. Shin crawled over his friend's body, using it as a kind of insulating pad. As he squirmed through the fence, Shin could feel the current.

Shin was nearly through the fence when his lower legs slipped off Park's torso and came into direct contact, through the two pairs of pants he was wearing, with the bottom strand. Voltage from the wire caused severe burns from his ankles to his knees. But it would be a couple of hours before Shin noticed how badly he had been injured.

When he cleared the fence, he had no idea where to go. The only direction he could comprehend was down. He ran for about two hours, always heading downhill, until he entered a mountain valley. There were barns and scattered houses. He heard no alarms, no gunfire, no shouting. As far as he could tell, no one was chasing him.

As the adrenaline of flight began to ebb, Shin noticed that the legs of his pants were sticky. He rolled them up and saw blood oozing out of his legs. It was very cold, well below 10 degrees Fahrenheit. He had no coat.

Park had not told him where he might find China.

No one is trying to escape from the United States, at least not yet. No one is risking death by drowning or shark attack to leave these shores. No one is hiding under car seats, in trunks, or suffocating in the back of trucks trying to cross the border out of the United States. No one is giving their life savings to someone, knowing they will be raped and possibly murdered trying to get to the United States. No one is doing any of these things to get out, but there are plenty of people doing these things and more to get in. Doesn't that tell you something?

Why the hell are you trying to make the United States just like the countries that these people are DYING to escape? Why are you OK with that? Because if you are not - at least - helping to vote these communists* out of office you are helping them. No one is going to take care of you and give you everything you want for free. They can tell you that until they're blue in the face - it isn't true. I know it, they know it, and you know it in your heart. You will give up all your freedoms, you will give up all your comforts, and you will give up everything you have and you will be poor and powerless and miserable. That's it. That's what YOU get. THEY get all the money and power and THEY don't care one wit about YOU. You are not one of them and you never will be, they are using you and when they are done they will be laughing at you. The world has already been through this ruse, this is just another rerun. The history of communism is written in the blood of countless millions of it's citizens. Read it.

The same people who are voting for all this reject the God of the Bible. Don't dare post the Ten Commandments in a school or courtroom. But have you ever read those commandments? Love God, take a day off every week (the Sabbath), honor you mother and father, don't murder, don't steal, don't lie, don't covet.

The mob mentality surrounding the killing of Trayvon Martin is out of hand. I have heard many TV and radio personalities talk about it, newspapers, interviews with the "man on the street." It's all very confusing and only one thing is perfectly clear - none of these people know what they are talking about, they do not know what transpired between those two people and we would all be a lot better off if we would let the authorities handle it. It seems more and more like both individuals made mistakes that night, both did something they shouldn't have done and if either one would have acted differently the outcome wouldn't have been a death. I do not mean to insinuate that Trayvon got what he deserved at all, just that if had just kept walking home he might still be alive. Or if Zimmerman would have not followed Trayvon, he might still be alive. But we don't know.

So what will the mob do if the new investigator finds no reason to arrest Zimmerman? What if he goes to trial but is found innocent? Will the mobs be out rioting then? It is irresponsible to hold a trial by media. Let the justice system work. You know what? Innocent people are killed everyday (with no outrage, BTW), sometimes the killer is not found, sometimes they get off. I don't like it and neither do you but there is no way for a human justice system to be 100 percent without fault. Lynch mobs are always wrong, however.

It's not a lynch mob? Are you sure? What's the difference if you hang someone yourself or you force someone else to do it?

As someone who works in the tourist industry I can tell you that there is a certain percentage of the population who have absolutely no sense of direction. It's gotten worse since GPS. I have talked to people who could not drive straight down a road 5 miles without plugging it into the GPS.

Computers have become our external hard drive in the sky, replacing our need to think or remember - just Google it. And now we can carry that brain around with us everywhere we go and it looks up almost anything we can imagine for us. Instantly. It's amazing, really. But, I think it may be a good idea to think about developing a basic skill set and knowledge base that will help us get through when the power goes out for extended periods or we otherwise lose touch with our external brain. Or the GPS tells us to drive into the bay.

Energy Secretary Chu Admits Administration OK with High Gas Prices

President Barack Obama's Secretary of Energy Stephen Chu uttered the kind of Washington gaffe that consists of telling the truth when inconvenient. According to Politico, Chu admitted to a House committee that the administration is not interested in lowering gas prices.

Chu, along with the Obama administration, regards the spike in gas prices as a feature rather than a bug. High gas prices provide an incentive for alternate energy technology, a priority for the White House, and a decrease in reliance on oil for energy.

This is old news to those who are paying attention, still, many are not.

Fireman and a policeman refuse to rescue a man having a seizure in a few inches of water citing safety rules.

In a story that seems too unbelievable to be true, a charity shop worker drowned in a shallow lake in Gosport, England, after firemen and rescue workers stood by and refused to help. The man, 41-year-old Simon Burgess, fell into the water while feeding swans and was left there until a rescue team with individuals who were legally able to assist reached him 28 minutes later.

The firemen, who were reportedly only 25 feet away from the man, allegedly refused to rescue the man, as they cited health and safety regulations. And a police officer who arrived after learning about the incident was reportedly called back after he started moving into the ankle-deep water to rescue the man.

Absolutely pathetic.

Last weekend, a 67 year-old Berkeley, California man calmly phoned the police, requesting protection from an aggressive trespasser that had confronted him and his wife in their garage. The call was "queued for dispatch", but then ignored because the police were shorthanded at the time.

Sadly, less than 13 minutes after the police call, the mentally ill trespasser returned and attacked the man in front of his home, dragged him into the bushes and beat him with a large flowerpot, while the victim's wife watched helplessly. The man died later.

If you are of the Muslim religion, you don't have to give all the new Obamacare healthcare reform regulations and penalties another thought. Because the concept of being compelled to participate in such a healthcare program offends Islamic sensibilities, Muslims are specifically exempt.

As a matter of fact if you are Amish, American Indian or a Chistian Scientist you do not need to participate or pay the taxes associated with healthcare reform. That means not having to be forced to buy healthcare insurance, not paying the taxes or the penalties if you don't get it.

You mean to say Muslims don't have a "right" to healthcare? Are they exempt from car insurance? Home insurance if they have a mortgage? Insurance on their businesses?

Amscot employee kidnapped from home, forced to rob store

A family's Sunday morning had just gotten underway inside their Osceola County home, when several men stormed into the family's home around 9:00 a.m. and tied everyone up, except for one man.

Deputies told WFTV the suspects tied up everyone in the home and took off with the man.
The employee was then driven to the Amscot location at John Young Parkway and Town Center Boulevard by the suspects, according to deputies.

Investigators say the suspects forced the employee to rob the store.

We have home invasions around here so often it's almost blasé. Here's one from Saturday. If it happens so much here, how much is it happening across America? And there are people who want to disarm us to make us even more helpless? I'm seriously beginning to think the authorities want a certain amount of crime so we look to them to help us. Perhaps even to slowly create a police state. Police are more and more equipping themselves and acting more like soldiers than a civilian "Protect and Serve" police force.

And this kind of stuff - Man exposes self to kids at Titusville Walmart - same thing, you can't leave your kids alone for a second. How can you have a society where you can't trust anyone?

No tyrant looks in a mirror and sees an oppressor. Tyrants are always protectors of the people. And our own American Tyrants are equally certain that they are the protectors of a people who would otherwise run off cliffs, throw lawn darts at each other, tear the tags off mattresses, make racist jokes, open pill bottles too easily, have inappropriate opinions and reinforce the oppressive heteronormative patriarchy which they have thoughtfully replaced with a vast echoing bureaucratic state in which everyone is free to be different in the same way.

The tyrannical impulses were always there in American liberalism and like water on lilies, power brought them forth. Now we live under a system which strangles us to protect us from ever getting rid of it. The men and women strangling us smile awkwardly and tell us that it is for our own good. This tyranny for our own good requires that they toss aside our laws and replace them with their own. It requires that they spend us into bankruptcy, with much of the proceeds going to them, but in the name of a higher cause. And it demands that we praise them and if we won't do that, then it demands that we shut up and stop broadcasting our dissatisfaction. There is no place in their ideal national community for people like us.

I wanted to highlight the opening paragraph from this article because it is hitting at the problem we are facing as a society.

While most of us object to politicians or law enforcement officials taking bribes, it turns out that the public is quite happy to be complicit in corrupt behavior.

If the individual citizens cannot govern themselves, the government will have to do it for them. That is why we now have things like "the Peacemaker" rolling out into South Florida neighborhoods. It could be coming to your neighborhood next.

God starts with the healing of the individual, building society from the individual up - and it's completely voluntary. Strong people, strong families, strong society. Man takes the opposite approach, masterminding the great society and forcing the individual to conform - which never truly happens, even after all the bloodshed which inevitably ensues.

We've had many years of top down planning in the United States and it is beginning to fall apart. The people are corrupt, families torn apart, and the strong hand of government trying to keep it together. May we repent - realize our errors and turn it around - before it's too late.

Edit: After writing the above, before going to bed, I was reading a book called 'Friend of God' by Ray Stedman, and came across this paragraph:

The spiritual freedom that Christ brings always produces social and political freedom. Those who try to bring about social and political justice without laying a foundation of freedom in Christ are doomed to fail. No amount of political action and organizing will ever succeed in setting people free until the gospel of Jesus Christ has planted the seeds of freedom in human hearts.

I believe the closest this world has ever come to that freedom - at least since ancient Israel - has been in the United States whose foundational principles were based on Judeo-Christian values. As we lose those values, we lose the blessings that result.

The helicopter had a spotlight on him as he ran along the side of Karen Granville's home and into her backyard.

They couldn't do this without the willing participation of food stamp recipients. The article says they are stealing from "the area's poorest residents" as if they have no control. But, "the area's poorest residents" know what they are doing, they are not ignorant of what is going on here.

I'm not excusing the store owners - no way - but let's not pretend they are without willing accomplice.

What am I'm referring to? It has officially been 1000 days since the Senate has passed a budget. Arguably one of the most important functions the Senate has to perform every year .. and they have failed to do this for 1000 days. And not coincidentally, the Senate has been controlled by Democrats for 1000 out of those 1000 days. At one point early last year, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said that it would be "foolish" for the Senate to consider a budget. They didn't pass one through committee let alone put one on the floor.

I've been thinking about this problem from the perspective of the Obama administration. We need to tax the airline industry out of existence. Sure you can start an airline, but you'd go broke doing it. At the same time, loan billions of dollars to the teleportation industry. Can you imagine how wonderful it will be to just 'beam' to where you need to go? No dirty jet fuel, no worrying about terrorists on airplanes, no airport parking. Sure, you'd have teleport parking but at least it's not airport parking.

Yes, it might be a bit expensive - at first, but this approach worked wonders for solar and wind energy, not to mention ethanol production. Yes we can.

No Room for Error

Watching Ice Road Truckers: Deadliest Roads on Netflix. This show is crazy. They took truckers from North America that normally drive on the ice roads in Canada and Alaska and sent them to India to drive on narrow, dilapidated mountain roads. It's completely insane. One guy didn't even get out of the city before he quit, another just froze up when meeting traffic heading the other way on the narrow mountain road. Refused to go on.

Seems unnecessarily dangerous to put completely unfamiliar drivers in that situation but it is entertaining. I wouldn't mind watching the drivers who normally drive those routes every day, might be just as entertaining.

It's an addicting show, I recommend giving it a try.

So it ever is. The reason for the false conception is found in the moral turpitude of those who hold the view. The false conception, so begotten, leads to hatred. Your iniquity is great, and your enmity is great.

Chris Christie has become the quintessential anti-B.S. politician, and in a recent press conference over public employee benefits, the New Jersey governor showcased his principles and rhetorical skills. And it was all over public workers getting payouts for unused sick days.

I used to work for the state of New Jersey and I know the culture of corruption that exists there. Seems like he is stopping sick leave payouts, which is a big deal to some people who would save up their sick days but it doesn't seem like he will address sick leave policy. I worked at the Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital - now closed - and sick days were regularly used as personal days. You didn't have to be sick, no questions were ever asked and a lot of overtime was paid to cover those who called out. Nice job if you can get it, but it really is screwing over the taxpayers.

And what's up with that guy behind Christie, he has such an intense look on his face. Maybe he's one of those people who like to save up their sick days for the payout.

Because of the sorry state of what passes for journalism these days it is very difficult to know what really happened here. It's hard to accept that innocent people sometimes die because someone else wasn't thinking and did something stupid but it happens everyday be it cars, boats, motorcycles, tools or whatever - never underestimate the power of stupid.

I don't know how a person can stand up in front of congress and say something so blatantly stupid as Harry Reid did in this example - but members of congress do it all the time. It's like it's their job to see who can say the most outrageously unbelievable thing with a straight face and have no one call them on it.

We need to bring back the hook they used to use in vaudeville to get bad acts off the stage. Will the "distinguished gentleman" from Nevada exit stage left. Now.

And what's with the distinguished gentleman? If you have to call somebody distinguished gentleman you know it isn't true. There are as many distinguished gentlemen in congress as there are free people in The Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Our government has become a dark farce.

What Next for North Korea?

Now that Kim Jong Il is dead.

He appointed his son, Kim Jong Un, to be his successor. Hopefully, the people around him just say enough is enough but who knows? 'Watch and see' - that seems to be the course the free world is taking with world affairs lately. The anti-freedom forces are taking the 'make it happen' approach, though.

It's like hearing there is corruption in our government and whatever little bit you hear about is just the tip of the iceberg. Actually, there is quite a bit more than a little bit we are hearing about lately and that doesn't surprise me either. Trying to be self-supporting, helping your kids grow up healthy and be ready for the world, and pursuing "dreams" like learning about the world and loving the people you know -- these are not enough. You're not part of his collective. You're not transforming the world in the exact way Obama thinks it should be transformed.

And that's why it is a big problem. We cannot just live happily in two camps: we pursuing our dreams and he pursuing his. Because his dream must involve us. To the collectivist, you can't even have your own little country of individual dream-pursuers. He wants to transform the world.

To add insult to injury, collectivists really think they are on the side of the angels when making those demands. And to add further insult, they have the audacity to think they can read our minds. Obama attributes my behavior, values, and worldview to "cynicism." It's not cynicism; it's called healthy behavior. It's doing your own thing, in the real world, with people you actually know -- not some abstract, global collective, doing whatever the heck "transforming" is.

If I had to guess, I would say 30% of the population is, at core, collectivist. That is the real attractiveness of socialism, communism, Jacobinism, and other isms. A lot of people actually do want it. They yearn for it. They think it is in a higher plane of consciousness. To them, I am a cancer on the body of humanity -- a cell that won't join the body, the higher level. My dreams are not worthy. Their dreams are next to godliness.
