Many Are Still Waiting

Still Nearly 58,000 Unsettled Hurricane Claims

Most are unresolved because policyholders haven't shown documentation that repairs have been completed, a problem which may have to do with contractors having more work than they can handle, state Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty told the Cabinet on Tuesday.

Others are being held up because of disputes on whether damage was caused by flooding or wind, among other reasons, McCarty said.
