Will We Get a Reprieve?

If we elect an admitted socialist president, we'll deserve what we get

ABC's Charlie Gibson first lifted the veil back in April, during a primary-season debate among Democratic candidates. He asked why Obama would raise capital-gains taxes even if the result were decreased collections for the government.

Obama replied, "What I've said is that I would look at raising the capital-gains tax for purposes of fairness."

Then came Obama's chance meeting with Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher, who questioned Obama's tax plans and got this reply: "It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everyone who is behind you - that they have a chance for success, too. I think that when you spread the wealth around, it is good for everyone."

Obama's answers to those questions made it crystal-clear that he sees taxation as a tool not only to pay for government, but as a tool to reassign the wealth of individual Americans directly to other individual Americans as government sees fit. If he doesn't believe in trickle-down economics, fine. But having government decide precisely how full each American's glass should be - and then making the necessary adjustments - would be a whole new ballgame.

Who is Obama to define what's fair anyway? His sense of "fairness" is like that of a 3-year old.

Obama should lose this election because Americans wake from their trance, look over the precipice to which he has ushered them, and recoil.

Seventy years is a long time for a nation to wander from the principles and practices that brought it forth and made it great: limited government, individual liberty, individual initiative rewarded and the right of every citizen to assign the fruits of his own labors as he sees fit.

Obama has run a stealth campaign, because the left suspects that it hasn't succeeded in separating us entirely from those principles. An Obama victory would sever the connection, though. He has slipped twice, and told us so.

If Americans take the monumental risk Obama poses, they will deserve the government they get. More to the point, they will have proved undeserving of the government left to them by far greater, far wiser men.

The truth is we probably are undeserving of this government left to us but I pray that God has mercy on us once more and that we use that reprieve to wise up.

Obama's Grubby Little Racket of Online Credit Card Fraud

Holding All the Cards

Which brings us to the case of Mary T Biskup of Manchester, Mo, who discovered there were scores of small online donations made to the Obama campaign in her name, even though she hasn't given him a dime. They added up to $174,800, which is a wee bit over the $2,300 limit. This very generous donation was not billed to her own card, but to someone else's - meaning (as the Post says) "someone appropriated her name".

Ah, but who? And, if just one unwitting front is responsible for 175 grand of the Obama take, how many other Mary T Biskups are there out there?

The coming (?) 'rules don't apply to me' presidency. We don't need this.

Obama Says He's Not Socialist

You must listen to at least the first 13 minutes of the Mark Levin Show. But only if you don't have time to listen to it all.

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck ...

Who are you going to believe? Obama, or you own eyes and ears?

What's On the Tape?

Tip: Two quotes from the Obama-Khalidi videotape

"Saw a clip from the tape. Reason we can't release it is because statements Obama said to rile audience up during toast. He congratulates Khalidi for his work saying "Israel has no God-given right to occupy Palestine" plus there's been "genocide against the Palestinian people by Israelis."

It would be really controversial if it got out. That's why they will not even let a transcript get out."

That is a position taken by others of his political leaning, it wouldn't surprise me if that's what is on the tape. Only one way to find out for sure, L.A. Times - release the tape.

Broken Promises, Fraud, Harassment

And he doesn't even have the job yet. What's to come?

Team Obama deliberately avoided credit-card security checks

Barack Obama claims to champion the consumers of America. This demonstrates worse than just callous disregard of financial security; it looks like a deliberate attempt to allow people to empty unsuspecting consumers of their savings and credit. The checks involving security codes and address verification were put in place years ago by the credit-card companies to protect their customers from having their accounts hijacked by thieves.

There is only one reason to deliberately choose to bypass those security processes, and that’s to facilitate fraud. Team Obama claims that they vet the donations after the fact, but that’s hogwash. It costs far more to do that than to screen for security codes and address verification up front, and everyone knows it. Obama counts on the fact that most of the fraud will fly under the radar of its victims, and the only cost they’ll incur is when they have to process refunds after getting a specific complaint.

This is a key, revelatory moment about Obama and his team. They have deliberately chosen to make it easier for people to defraud the public so that they can ring up millions more in a campaign that has already broken records for fundraising. It’s unethical, dishonest, and dangerous — especially since these will be the same people with their hands on tax records if Obama wins this election.

Credit-card experts explain the extent of Obama’s deception

The value of the AVS system is to deny Card Not Present transactions (CNP) which are suspicious. This protects the merchant against charge backs for bad transactions. What is interesting to me is that the merchant acquirer has knowingly violated a basic CNP fraud prevention technique to accommodate a merchant (Obama Campaign). I think that both the Associations (VISA & MasterCard) would be highly interested in looking at the merchant acquirer that was processing these transactions. The value of ignoring the AVS responses is that multiple invalid transactions may be made without fear of being rejected by the authorization systems. This means that the real owner of the credit card account is willing to allow multiple transactions to be made on the account using different names and addresses that under normal conditions would be denied. The merchant acquirer has a complete listing of all transactions done and it would be very interesting to see how many transactions were conducted on the same account number using different names. I would think that this would be a Federal violation under the current campaign funding laws.

Not to mention: Checks on 'Joe' more extensive than first acknowledged

Obama's campaign is one big lie on top of another lie, on top of a whole mess of lies. That he cares anything about the middle class is one of them, we are about to get royally screwed.

Ask Joe how it feels.

In Name Only?

Does the United States of America Still Exist? by Douglas MacKinnon

There is no greater threat to our liberty and this Republic than a biased media that despises traditional values and only speaks and lies with one voice. Again, Thomas Jefferson may have said it best when he wrote, "He who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and third time, till at length it becomes habitual; he tells lies without attending to it, and truths without the world's believing him. This falsehood of the tongue leads to that of the heart, and in time depraves all its good dispositions."

Another Bad Idea

Some inventions are just really bad ideas. A flying car is one, people can't even drive on the ground without killing and maiming each other. What makes them think they could take to the skies?

Here's another: Nuclear-powered passenger aircraft

"The risk of reactors cracking open in a crash could be reduced by jettisoning them before impact and bringing them down with parachutes."

He said that, in the worst-case scenario, if the armour plating around the reactor was pierced there would be a risk of radioactive contamination over a few square miles.

"If we want to continue to enjoy the benefits of air travel without hindrance from environmental concerns, we need to explore nuclear power."

And we all know radioactive contamination is not an environmental concern.

There comes a point when genius becomes insanity. The trick is to stay on this side of it.

There's So Many Reasons NOT to Vote for Obama...

It's hard to pick just one.

Obama's 'Redistribution' Constitution

Speaking in July 2007 at a conference of Planned Parenthood, he (Obama) said: "[W]e need somebody who's got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it's like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what it's like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that's the criteria by which I'm going to be selecting my judges."

Every new federal judge has been required by federal law to take an oath of office in which he swears that he will "administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich." Mr. Obama's emphasis on empathy in essence requires the appointment of judges committed in advance to violating this oath. To the traditional view of justice as a blindfolded person weighing legal claims fairly on a scale, he wants to tear the blindfold off, so the judge can rule for the party he empathizes with most.

Nothing less than the very idea of liberty and the rule of law are at stake in this election. We should not let Mr. Obama replace justice with empathy in our nation's courtrooms.

There's Nothing Like an Informed Voter!

Forget the picture, listen to what is said.

Thanks IMAO

Isn't It Ironic

America for Sale by Owners

At least half of them.

Is America really going to do this?

The impact of the financial crisis on the American presidential election has somewhat obscured the most important reason why the prospect of an Obama presidency is giving so many people nightmares. This is the fear that, if he wins, US defences will be emasculated at a time of unprecedented international peril and the enemies of America and the free world will seize their opportunity to destroy the west.

For government provided health care and pocket change. And to stick it to "the man."

Reality check: You are "the man." We're all "the man."

Everyone Should Read It

An Open Letter to Black Obama Supporters

Barack Obama seeks office to institute radical policies that will make you fiscally, emotionally, and spiritually impoverished for generations to come. And while his stump speech has been rhetorically impressive, it has not dealt honestly with you as to his true intentions. And in the end if Obama is elected, he may very well be the most negative influence upon the totality of the Black American community this nation has ever seen.

This country IS ready for a president of any race. But race alone is not nearly a good enough reason to put into office a man who will enjoy overwhelming, veto-proof power to change the entire landscape of everything you hope for and dream of.

Doesn't Matter If Obama a Citizen or Not

Apparently, our rules don't apply to him. This is just getting weird. I'm not sure what to make of this questioning of Obama's citizenship, surely someone official would actually check this stuff out. I mean, McCain is satisfied, right? But here the judge is not saying that he knows Obama is a citizen, so the case has no merit. He said it doesn't matter if he is or he isn't. In effect, what could it hurt if he's not a citizen? Don't worry about it!

Judge tosses lawsuit challenging Obama citizenship

Surrick ruled that Berg lacked standing to bring the case, saying any harm from an allegedly ineligible candidate was "too vague and its effects too attenuated to confer standing on any and all voters."

Dude. This is bizarre. And I don't have reason to worry about an Obama presidency? And with congress and the judicial system 100% behind him no matter what.

This is WRONG.

This article explains it a little different, saying that ordinary citizens don't have standing to question whether the candidate is a citizen or not.

In a 34-page memorandum that accompanied the court order, the Hon. R. Barclay Surrick concludes that ordinary citizens can't sue to ensure that a presidential candidate actually meets the constitutional requirements of the office.

It also said,

"Plaintiff would have us derail the democratic process by invalidating a candidate for whom millions of people voted," Surrick states, "and who underwent excessive vetting during what was one of the most hotly contested presidential primary [sic] in living memory."

Excessive vetting? Are we still talking about Obama? And we are to just assume he is legal because he wouldn't have made it this far if he wasn't? And because millions of people voted for him?

This is still WRONG.

A Country Divided

Listen: A Christian Failure

From Born to Win

Untenable

Yet another ghastly war

"What is this world coming to?"

We've all heard folks, usually of the older variety, voicing this question, born of concern and perplexity. In the past, the concern has been about deteriorating tastes, subject matter in movies, social mores and the like. And usually, with a shake of the head or a "tsk tsk," the speaker moves on to other things.

Well, the question appears more timely than ever and deserves to be addressed to even more serious issues – like genocide, wholesale slaughter of innocents, and persecution of religious and ethnic minorities around the world.

The list grows alarmingly long: Rwanda, the Sudan, Bosnia. Recently there was Ireland, China and Haiti. Somehow endlessly, the Middle East. And now, most atrociously, India.

Yes, India, the second most populist nation in the world, moving swiftly into prominence in the 21st century. India, new leaders in almost all technology and engineering; where your phone call asking for tech support or product delivery may be answered; where an automobile that runs on compressed air reportedly has been built and will be marketed. India, where in April a successful space launch expanded the nation's importance in the solar system.

But also India, where, also in April, a 6-year-old Dalit (untouchable) girl was thrown into a roaring fire about 40 km from the temple town of Mathura and burned alive. The little girl was accused of the dastardly crime of walking through the footpath meant for only the upper castes, on the very day those "upper caste" people were exulting over India's successful new satellite launch – another devastating indictment of mankind.

It seems just unthinkable, rationally impossible, that these two vastly contradicting events could happen, in the same month, in the same country, and in the 21st century. But wait; you haven't heard the worst, not by a very long shot.

My Way or the Highway

Racy Content

Now, let us actually transcend race for a moment. Apparently for Obama, "transcend" isn't a racial term so much as a euphemism for declaring victory. He says he wants to "turn the page" on the arguments of the '80s and '90s, by which he means conservatives should stop clinging to their guns and antiquated Sky God and join his cause.

He told Planned Parenthood he wants to stop "arguing about the same ole stuff," by which he means he wants people who disagree with his absolute support for government-funded abortion on demand to shut up already.

He doesn't want to argue about his pals from the Weather Underground who murdered or celebrated the murder of policemen and other Americans, he just wants everyone to agree no one should care.

In short, Obama and his disciples only demand one kind of transcendence from all Americans. We must, as Obama likes to say, unite as one people, one nation, one American family and transcend all of our misgivings about Barack Obama. Then, and only then, will The One fulfill his wife's pledge and fix our broken souls.

Intolerance disguised as tolerance.

Systemic Deception

Universities of socialism

The great English writer George Orwell, who penned the book, "Animal Farm," and "1984" – forgotten anti-totalitarian classics that mocked the progressive intellectuals, social engineers and secular academics of the 1920s–50s that gleefully followed the siren song of Darwin, Marx, Freud, Lenin, Mussolini, Stalin, Hitler, Mao and the myriad varieties of what Jonah Goldberg referred to as "liberal fascism" – said it best: "In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act."

Americans Being Set Up Like Bowling Pins

Barack O-holy-bama, I have been saved!

Since Christianity is now pass̩ in this country (at least according to the Old Media), it stands to reason that people need a new and exciting gospel to fill the void. And why not use the handsomest and most charismatic of presidential candidates to proclaim the new faith? Why not idolize his every word, bring federal charges against his critics and refuse to examine his past? In the absence of religious belief in this country, something will rush in to fill the void Рand Obama's supporters have done just that.

The easy thing about changing my allegiance from Jesus to Obama is that I don't have to "do" anything more. I don't have to treat people decently (the government will do it for me). I don't have to act charitably (the government will do it for me). I don't have to love my neighbor (ditto). All I have to do is accept that my freedoms will be curtailed and my money will be spread around and – bam! – I get free housing and medical care and a deity for president. What a deal.

This is getting creepy, folks.

It's a sham. Americans are being deceived by the truckloads by empty promises and delusions of grandeur.

More Fraud and Slimy Practices

Fraudulent credit card charges accepted

Apparently, the AVS security precautions have not been re-enabled at the Obama website, and fake-name donations are still being accepted. But please, stop giving the guys more cash.

As to the argument that all these fake names are checked "offline", the donation below from "Della Ware" has already been withdrawn from her account.

So, just to clarify, the AVS security checks most merchant processors use to screen out fraudulent transactions (and, incidentally, overseas customers) were intentionally disabled by the Obama campaign - and thus their web donation page enables fraudulent (and/or foreign) donations. The McCain campaign retains the AVS system used by other online retailers and thus rejects fake names and fake addresses. Advantage: Obama!

See it played out here, here, here, here, and here.

The Wind Beneath His Wings

Ayers' group foresaw genocide of capitalists

Do you actually believe history doesn't repeat itself? Do you believe that these Marxist/socialists who have been planning the takeover, and actually taking over our schools, media, courts and government for decades and are now on the verge of gaining full control of our government would not resort to something like this? It has happened in the USSR, Cuba, Vietnam, Korea, China, etc, etc, etc. Every time a free society has been toppled.

Obama has habitually surrounded himself with and learned from some pretty bad people over the years and he may not actually understand how bad. He seems to have an idea, he has distanced himself from them. He may just be a dupe, I don't know. But there are people on the left who have some awfully bad plans for this country, who want to "change" this country, and they don't mean a little change here and a little change there. They mean a complete overhaul, a total change in direction. That means all men are not created equal and they are not endowed by their Creator any unalienable rights - no right to life, no right to liberty, and no right to pursue any happiness unless it's approved by the government. Whether Obama intends this or not, that is the spirit behind him, that is the wind pushing him.

Regarding comments made by Senator Biden

What's disturbing about Biden's remarks is that he seems to anticipate a domestic crisis of sorts as well--that Obama's response to the crisis will be unpoular among the public, or some segment of it, and that his backers will simply have to have faith. But Biden gives us no clue as to what he thinks Obama will do that will prompt a backlash--or which segment of the public he expects to lash back. To hear Biden tell it, a vote for Obama is a vote for God-and-Joe-Biden-only-know-what. -James Taranto

I don't like the whole government in the hands of one party. Obama plus a super majority in congress plus a sympathetic court system equals trouble on the horizon. Watch your wallet, 401k, religious rights, free speech rights, guns, home, property, talk radio, blogs - anything that doesn't fit in their ideal society - they got their eyes on it, they are salivating right now.

Oh, by the way, these radical leftists are dead serious about their plans, they are in no way wishy-washy, they have a long term goal and they are working it for all it's worth. War is not always a head-on clash of might, this is a war of wills, of ideas but the stakes are as high as any other and it could very easily become a bloodbath. It's already happened too many times in history - recent history.

Cross the Rubicon now and fight with your vote, your words, your mind while it is still possible.

New Rules: Obama's ideals of change and fairness

From Neal Boortz

You small business owners out there are preparing for life under a Barack Obama presidency. One of our listeners sent us some new rules for small businesses based on Obama's ideals of change and fairness:

As of November 5, 2008, when President Obama officially becomes president-elect, our company will instill a few new policies which are in keeping with his new, inspiring issues of change and fairness:

1. All salespeople will be pooling their sales and bonuses into a common pool that will be divided equally between all of you. This will serve to give those of you who are under-achieving a "fair shake".

2. All low level workers will be pooling their wages, including overtime, into a common pool, dividing it equally amongst you. This will help those who are "too busy for overtime" to reap the rewards from those who have more spare time and can work extra hours.

3. All top management will now be referred to as "the government." We will not participate in this "pooling" experience because the law doesn't apply to us.

4. The "government" will give eloquent speeches to all employees every week, encouraging its workers to continue to work hard "for the good of all".

5. The employees will be thrilled with these new policies because it's "good to spread the wealth around". Those of you who have underachieved will finally get an opportunity; those of you who have worked hard and had success will feel more "patriotic".

6. The last few people who were hired should clean out their desks. Don't feel bad, though, because President Obama will give you free healthcare, free handouts, free oil for heating your home, free food stamps, and he'll let you stay in your home for as long as you want even if you can't pay your mortgage. If you appeal directly to our democratic congress, you might even get a free flat screen TV and a coupon for free haircuts (shouldn't all Americans be entitled to nice looking hair?)!!!

If for any reason you are not happy with the new policies, you may want to rethink your vote on November 4th

Spreading it Around

Left-wing and a prayer

Look, it's not difficult. Barack the Spreader wants to spread Joe the Plumber's wealth around. In fact, every American does that for himself every day of the week, every time he swings by Joe the Butcher, Joe the Baker, Joe the Candlestick Maker, Jolene the Waitress, Jolene the New York Gubernatorial Prostitute, whatever. The question is whether 300 million Americans spreading their wealth around can do it more effectively than Barack and Barney taking it unto themselves to spread it around.

I don't find that hard to answer. If you disagree - if you believe in socialist redistribution from the dynamic sector of the economy to the sclerotic, incompetent and corrupt - then fine: lots of folks in European welfare states and African basket-case dictatorships do as well. But it's hard to have much respect for a pro-Obama "conservative argument" dependent on "hopes" and "prayers" that an Obama-Pelosi-Frank liberal supermajority won't do what they're explicitly saying they will do.

And just for the record, Barney Frank - and there's a quote from him in that commentary - should be in jail.

To The Undecided Voter

This is long; very long. Hey, I'm a pretty entertaining writer … so give it a go. If you’re an undecided voter in this presidential election the least you owe your country is to try to base your final choice on some substantive facts. No, I don't have all the facts here ... but I have enough of them to perhaps convince you that voting one particular way on November 4th might not be the most brilliant move you’ve ever made.

"Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee said at a Seattle fundraiser Sunday, "it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy."

I don't know about you but I'd rather have a president that no one would want to mess with. We can't afford any more testing.

No Honor Among Journalists

Would the Last Honest Reporter Please Turn On the Lights?

If you had any principles, then surely right now, when the American people are set to blame President Bush and John McCain for a crisis they tried to prevent, and are actually shifting to approve of Barack Obama because of a crisis he helped cause, you would be laboring at least as hard to correct that false impression.

Your job, as journalists, is to tell the truth. That's what you claim you do, when you accept people's money to buy or subscribe to your paper.

But right now, you are consenting to or actively promoting a big fat lie — that the housing crisis should somehow be blamed on Bush, McCain, and the Republicans. You have trained the American people to blame everything bad — even bad weather — on Bush, and they are responding as you have taught them to.

If you had any personal honor, each reporter and editor would be insisting on telling the truth — even if it hurts the election chances of your favorite candidate.

Because that's what honorable people do. Honest people tell the truth even when they don't like the probable consequences. That's what honesty means . That's how trust is earned.

Barack Obama is just another politician, and not a very wise one. He has revealed his ignorance and naivete time after time — and you have swept it under the rug, treated it as nothing.

Spread the Wealth! Shhh!

Obama says he is not a socialist. But why? What's wrong with being a socialist? Canada is a socialist country and they are fine, upstanding people. There is nothing evil about Canadians - except for that one guy on the bus. Europe is socialist and we like them. We like to visit them and we're happy to have them come visit us here. We trade with socialist nations and we mostly get along very well. Many Americans would like America to become more socialist, I don't think that's any secret. Why does Obama hide his socialist views and plans behind rhetoric and double speak? Why not say it loud and proud? If you believe it, why be ashamed of it? Why all the cover up by the media?

I would respect Obama if he came out and said he was a socailist. I'd know where he stands. Is that too much to ask? Why does he feel he has to deceive the American people to get elected? If he feels he has to deceive us about this, what else is he deceiving us about?

I think socialists should be offended that Obama is ashamed to be a socialist. They know he's a socialist. It's obvious to anyone who's paying attention. Obama is like Clay Aiken before he come out.

Change ... to socialism. Hope ... for socialism. That's Obama.

Cold Comfort for Change

And he isn’t interested in supporting a politician who asks him to mortgage his dreams for the future in exchange for a handout today.

I Am Joe

Explanation

The Answer is Yes

Is Obama a socialist?

Obama is a socialist - say it out loud. Why try to hide it? Is he ashamed of it? He should be, but probably isn't. He's afraid it may lose him some votes to come out and say it. His supporters seem to like it, though.

Students and young adults no longer know why capitalism is better than socialism. Like Obama, young people really believe that when government redistributes wealth, "it's good for everybody." They do not realize that wealth redistribution is no substitute for wealth creation. They are never taught that the only way to create wealth is for an individual to combine his energy and intellect with resources to produce a product that improves his life, or for which someone else is willing to pay.

Private property, the accumulation of personal prosperity and individual achievement are anathema to socialism. Socialism sees the individual as nothing more than a cog in a government-run machine designed to ensure equity for all.

Capitalism seeks prosperity; socialism seeks equity. Freedom increases as prosperity increases. In a socialist system, there can be neither.

Why The Left Always Resorts To Brute Force

Team Obama's entire media operation became a heat seeking missile aimed at one target--destroy the working class person who dares to think, work, plan, and save for the benefit of their family, community, and nation. And do so especially if in the asking of honest questions you expose the leftist candidate in a presidential race to be the secret godless-worldview-marxist Barack Obama is.

Do Not Disturb?

Dr. Orr has recently said;

"Perhaps the side on which the currents have been flowing most strongly in science, inimical to faith, is along the line of the theory of evolution. Do not expect from me a general tirade against evolution. I have no quarrel with evolution at all so far as science has proved it. There is only one thing I would say; do not fall into the mistake of supposing that evolution is the same thing as Darwinism. That is where the mistake lies. The peculiarity of recent developments of the scientific theory is just the abandonment of Darwinism and the falling back upon a conception of evolution which recognizes that the work is being done from within, that there is mind and purpose within it, and that it is not a slow and gradual process creeping along at the rate of millenniums for some slight change, as Darwin insisted upon, but that it may take place by leaps and bounds, by 'mutation' as they call it; that there are periods when these leaps are very marked, and result in the production right off, the striking out, of new types and species."

That statement seems to me to have a very direct bearing on our subject. Science is demonstrating the fact that God proceeds by slow processes, and by crises, that there is not merely a slow and gradual movement, but that there are mutations, clear and definite, by which He proceeds to new things. -- G. Campbell Morgan in "Sunrise, Behold He Cometh" 1912.

I do not pretend to know the manner in which God created the heavens and the Earth and all the intricacies of the creation that brought us to this point today. I have nothing against science insofar as it is used to discover the truths of our universe, only that, being human, and often antagonistic toward God, scientists often stray in varying degrees from truth. Not that I am, or anyone is, in a position to judge positively when that occurs in every instance. The fact is, if it really mattered, so far as your salvation is concerned, it would have been spelled out clearly. As it stands, it is an area into which we are free to explore and discover - not to divide over.

That being said, I think Campbell Morgan makes an interesting observation here. God does seem to proceed "by slow processes," often painfully slow to us, and at times "by crises," much to our dismay. This can be observed in every area of life, whether physical or spiritual. Think about that. The crisis of our life are often the moments of our greatest spiritual growth, although they certainly don't seem that way at the time. As Paul said, "Wherefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong." --2 Corinthians 12:10. Hopefully we recognize these periods of growth for what they are. God is often a disturbing force, when it is to our benefit that we be disturbed.

Are We on Borrowed Time, too?

Like we're living on borrowed money.

The saddest thing about this election is that for those who want to preserve the fundamentals that made America great the choice is either dumb or dumber. Neither man is the right choice. We have strayed far from the right path.

Obama wants to change those fundamentals to a Marxist ideology (I don't care if he denies it, that's plainly what he wants to do - and he'll have Congress - Pelosi - and the Senate - Reid - behind him) and McCain is willing to compromise those fundamentals for convenience.

We have not taught our children what made this country great. We have abandoned the fundamental understanding that our constitutionally declared rights and our liberty come from God and not government, nor any man. In fact, we are at the point that anyone who will stand up and say that our rights are God-given is immediately side-lined and ridiculed, and there is the undoing of this great country.

Are You Kidding Me?

A chef at a western Pennsylvania Italian restaurant ate a 15-pound burger with 5.2 pounds of toppings in 4 hours and 39 minutes. Brad Sciullo, of Uniontown, is the first person to successfully eat the huge burger at Denny's Beer Barrel Pub, said pub owner Dennis Liegey.

Dude, that's crazy.

The End Justifies the Means

Obama's Betrayed Message

Let me get this straight. A couple of agitated yahoos in a rally of thousands yell something offensive and incendiary, and John McCain and Sarah Palin are not just guilty by association -- with total strangers, mind you -- but worse: guilty according to The New York Times of "race-baiting and xenophobia."

But should you bring up Barack Obama's real associations -- 20 years with Jeremiah Wright, working on two foundations and distributing money with William Ayers, citing the raving Michael Pfleger as one who helps him keep his moral compass (Chicago Sun-Times, April 2004) and the long-standing relationship with the left-wing vote-fraud specialist ACORN -- you have crossed the line into illegitimate guilt by association. Moreover, it is tinged with racism.

The fact that, when John McCain actually heard one of those nasty things said about Obama, he incurred the boos of his own crowd by insisting that Obama is "a decent person that you do not have to be scared (of) as president" makes no difference. It surely did not stop John Lewis from comparing McCain to George Wallace.

The search for McCain's racial offenses is untiring and often unhinged.

You know Obama could stop the racist nonsense if he wanted to, but he's content to let it go on while pretending to be above it all, as long as it helps him - right or wrong. What a stand-up guy!

Keep Your Hands Out of My Pocket

I highly recommend listening to the Mark Levin show Oct 15

Has a good explanation of Obama's tax welfare plan.

On The Good Ship Lollipop

Obama's 95% Illusion

It's a clever pitch, because it lets him pose as a middle-class tax cutter while disguising that he's also proposing one of the largest tax increases ever on the other 5%. But how does he conjure this miracle, especially since more than a third of all Americans already pay no income taxes at all? There are several sleights of hand, but the most creative is to redefine the meaning of "tax cut."

Obama voters don't much care about the "illusion," so pointing it out will not sway their votes. They don't care about the top 5% of Americans, they see no connection between what "the rich" do and their own lives. They don't understand economics and job creation - and they don't care.

They want the candy Obama is offering them. That's it. Anyone who tries to keep them from getting the candy is evil. Perverts can lure kids into their car with candy and politicians can lure voters into their political traps with voter candy (money).

That's what you are up against trying to defeat Obama. How do you convince a kid not to fall for the candy trick? I'm not sure you can. There is only the hope that enough of us are mature enough to understand.

Wealth Redistribution

This Robin Hood mentality is such a short-sighted idea. It sounds so good if you're struggling, who wouldn't want someone to give them money? But what's the incentive for the guy who works his butt off 12 to 14 hours a day running his business to keep working so hard when the government just keeps taking it away? There is none. A lot of them will stop doing it, they will close up shop, layoff their workers, not put new trucks on the road. Bigger corporations will move out of the country and take their jobs with them.

Those on the receiving end of the wealth distribution will have no incentive to improve themselves. You see that happening now with welfare. You have to keep your income under a certain amount, you work under the table, you shack up and lie about it so the other income is not counted, you do whatever you have to do to not lose your benefits.

This is so short-sighted people. You are shooting yourself and your neighbor in the foot voting for this. It's the same as when the bison was hunted into near oblivion or when fisheries are over-fished and the fish stocks decimated. The money was good while it lasted but suddenly it was all gone - and no chance of getting it back.

My Home State

Poll Finds Almost Half of New Jersey Adults Want to Move Out of State

And it's not because New Jersey is not a great place to live.

But 58 percent of those residents polled said the heavy financial burden of just living in the state is no laughing matter, and that's why they want to leave.

And government is no small part of that.

"But it is one of the reasons Gov. Corzine has worked tirelessly to help poor and working-class residents of New Jersey by implementing the Earned Income Tax Credit, expanding S-CHIP and increasing — and sustaining — property tax relief."

And the people who pay for all of this are the ones who are leaving.

The poll also found that 51 percent of those who expressed a desire to leave planned to do so, with adults under the age of 50 making between $50,000 and $100,000 the most likely to flee.

Gaze into the Giant Zero

The Indefinable Barack Obama - Mark Steyn

Gaze into the giant zero of the Obama logo, the hole in the star-spangled donut, the vast fathomless nullity that is the gaping keyhole to the door of utopia. To a sad shriveled Republican cynic, there’s nothing there but the wide open spaces of Obama’s blank resume. But a believer will see therein the healing of the planet and the receding of the oceans. The black hole of Obama will suck you in through the awesome power of its totally cool suckiness.

Be Courteous and Smile

Barack Obama in His Own Words

It was usually an effective tactic, another one of those tricks I had learned. People were satisfied so long as you were courteous and smiled and made no sudden moves. They were more than satisfied. They were revealed. Such a pleasant surprise to find a well-mannered young black man who didn't seem angry all the time.

I don't know about you but I much prefer to be around people who are pleasant and well mannered. I don't care where they're from or who they are. Who wants to be around someone who's angry all the time? I used to work for a guy like that, it was miserable. If you are angry all the time something is wrong with you, seek help.

So sorry to encourage you to be courteous and smile. I didn't know it was a trick.

Have They Ever Heard of the Boy Who Cried Wolf?

If you don't vote for Obama, you are a racist

For the first time in our nation's history, a biracial man is the presidential nominee for a major political party. He is leading John McCain in every national poll. You would think this is compelling evidence on how far we have come on race relations in America. Unfortunately, the Democrats seem to be stuck in Mississippi in 1955.

Obama has tried to present himself as a post-racial candidate. But the only people bringing race up in the selection are his Democratic supporters and the media. According to them, if you don't want to vote for Barack Obama, you are racist. If you question Obama's experience as a "community organizer," you are racist. If you have a problem with Obama's relationship with a white, American terrorist, you are racist. If you say Obama is looking a little bit skinny, you are racist. That last one isn't even a joke, although it sounds like one.

Yawn. Nobody even cares anymore. The definition has been so watered down it has become meaningless. Add in the whole only white people can be racist line and we know you have completely lost your grip on reality. Most of us have moved past this and don't even think about race until it is rudely - and usually wrongly - shoved in our face. If you can't stop thinking about race you may actually be a racist. Stop it.

A Night at the Pumps

I stopped to get gas last night, around 10:30pm. A couple of cars left as I pulled in, the place was empty. I pulled up to a pump on the west side of the station and I was the only one there. I just start pumping and a car pulls up behind me. There are three empty pumps he could have pulled up to, not to mention the other side. I hate being crowded, and when there is absolutely no reason for it ... well, he just sat there, so I ignored him, as long as he didn't get out of his car.

Then some middle aged lady walks through the pump lanes, stands for a few seconds, then walks straight over to me. "How much is gas?" - "What? $3.27" - "Is that middle one?" - "Huh, the middle one? No, that's regular." - "Oh, that's so cheap ... blah, blah, blah." Then she walks off. What the...? She didn't even have a car, I have no clue where she came from or where she went.

Those Who Do Not Remember the Past are Condemned to Repeat it

Why Obama's Communist Connections Are Not Headlines

There's a lot of frustration among conservatives over how Barack Obama's radical past seems to be making no impact whatsoever among the American public. His connection to communists in particular, from communist-terrorists like Bill Ayers to the communist agitator-journalist Frank Marshall Davis to fellow travelers like Saul Alinsky, has simply failed to resonate beyond the political right. Quite the contrary, the more information that becomes available on Obama's radical associations, the more he seems to widen his lead over John McCain, a man who was tortured by communists in Vietnam.

I understand these frustrations completely. I'm also not surprised.

I have seen for quite some time that although we won the Cold War -- and defeated the Soviet communist empire -- America is vulnerable to varying degrees of collectivism, wealth redistribution, "creeping socialism" (Ronald Reagan's phrase), class-warfare rhetoric, and generally milder, more palatable (but still dangerous) forms of disguised Marxism. Why? How? The answer is simple: The history and truth about communism is not taught by our educators.

I recommend reading that one.

Blind, Hard-Hearted Leaders

News Flash: The Media Back Obama

She would go on to raise the theme so central to the Obama campaign, and held, as revealed truth, by the politically progressive everywhere -- that the U.S., fallen low in the eyes of the world, is now in dire need of moral salvation. Everywhere she went in America, Ms. Amanpour declared, she found "desperate Americans" -- desperate, that is, about the low esteem in which the country was held, desperate to have a president who would lift America up.

The U.S. is in need of moral salvation - I can agree with that, and not the U.S. alone - but that it can come from the left, or any political party is a joke and a half. The morally bankrupt leading the morally bankrupt. Yeah, and the same people who brought our financial sector to it's knees are going to lead us to financial salvation by propping up the same policies and regulations that got us into the mess.

When the blind lead the blind they both fall into the ditch. Never has that saying been so relevant.

Oh, By the Way

The Dems manage to weasel ACORN into the bailout bill after all.

House Republicans removed one pro-ACORN measure from the rescue bill - torpedoeing a provision devoting 20 percent of all profits from the bailout to a housing slush fund - which would've funneled money to ACORN and similar groups.

In its place, however, ACORN's favorite lawmakers - led by Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) and Barney Frank (D-Mass.) - got ACORN-championed "foreclosure-mitigation" provisions into the rescue.

This will radically expand the federal role in meddling with mortgage loans. The key sections mandate that the Treasury "consent" to rewriting loans to prevent foreclosures - not only by reducing interest, but also by cutting loan principal.

Stuck with a $300,000 mortgage you can't pay? Get the government to wave its magic wand and cut your debt to $150,000.

The deal is only for those who have fallen behind on their mortgages, of course - not for all you chumps who've been paying on time.

And it's a good bet that ACORN mortgage counselors will "help" decide which distressed borrowers benefit, and how.

The group's housing arm, the Acorn Housing Corp., is already funded with millions of taxpayer dollars to renegotiate loans for low-income people who should have never received them in the first place. Loan modification is ACORN's bread and butter.

And when the group doesn't get what it wants, it will sue, protest and shake down until business and government bend again.

Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) foresees havoc: "Liberals who manage these programs will give away millions of free or reduced homes in neighborhoods all over America to families who could not otherwise afford them.

Isn't that special.

Out of the Ashes

"We want a new world to come out of this,"

French President Nicolas Sarkozy speaking on the international financial collapse.

Now, More Than Ever

Here's an audio of Alan Keyes speaking on the bailout. He makes some very good points.

Oops! I Hope They Didn't Do It Again!

Two UCLA economists say they have figured out why the Great Depression dragged on for almost 15 years, and they blame a suspect previously thought to be beyond reproach: President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

After scrutinizing Roosevelt's record for four years, Harold L. Cole and Lee E. Ohanian conclude in a new study that New Deal policies signed into law 71 years ago thwarted economic recovery for seven long years.

"Why the Great Depression lasted so long has always been a great mystery, and because we never really knew the reason, we have always worried whether we would have another 10- to 15-year economic slump," said Ohanian, vice chair of UCLA's Department of Economics. "We found that a relapse isn't likely unless lawmakers gum up a recovery with ill-conceived stimulus policies."

Emphasis mine.

"The fact that the Depression dragged on for years convinced generations of economists and policy-makers that capitalism could not be trusted to recover from depressions and that significant government intervention was required to achieve good outcomes," Cole said. "Ironically, our work shows that the recovery would have been very rapid had the government not intervened."

Yes, how ironic. Well, generations of economists (and liberals) can be wrong.

The Obama Fan-Dance Must End - Mark Levin

As someone who has written critically of John McCain on a host of issues, including the Keating Five, none of it compares to the life that Barack Obama has led and his belief system. Obama is not merely associated with domestic terrorists, Palestinian radicals, Marxists, and black liberation ideologues — he was their favorite candidate. They groomed him. They befriended him. He befriended them. He socialized with them. In other words, these people saw Obama as representing their views and aspirations and he saw them the same way. I am not among those who raise Obama's associations but add "of course, it doesn't mean Obama shares their views." Oh really? These miscreants include Obama's former pastor, political mentors and allies, and friends. Obama attempts to downplay and distance himself from his own circle of allies now that he is running for president. But he is one of them. Obama is getting a pass that no other candidate in my memory has ever received.

Barney Frank in Hot Water?

Not likely. The only hot water he'll be in is in his jacuzzi. Diplomatic immunity, or the congressional equivalent.

Lawmaker Accused of Fannie Mae Conflict of Interest

Unqualified home buyers were not the only ones who benefitted from Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank’s efforts to deregulate Fannie Mae throughout the 1990s.
So did Frank’s partner, a Fannie Mae executive at the forefront of the agency’s push to relax lending restrictions.

Now that Fannie Mae is at the epicenter of a financial meltdown that threatens the U.S. economy, some are raising new questions about Frank's relationship with Herb Moses, who was Fannie’s assistant director for product initiatives. Moses worked at the government-sponsored enterprise from 1991 to 1998, while Frank was on the House Banking Committee, which had jurisdiction over Fannie.

Frank met Moses in 1987, the same year he became the first openly gay member of Congress.

"I am the only member of the congressional gay spouse caucus," Moses wrote in the Washington Post in 1991. "On Capitol Hill, Barney always introduces me as his lover."

The two lived together in a Washington home until they broke up in 1998, a few months after Moses ended his seven-year tenure at Fannie Mae, where he was the assistant director of product initiatives. According to National Mortgage News, Moses "helped develop many of Fannie Mae’s affordable housing and home improvement lending programs."

Critics say such programs led to the mortgage meltdown that prompted last month’s government takeover of Fannie Mae and its financial cousin, Freddie Mac.

Keeping with today's theme - If anyone brings this up they must be a homophobe?

It's a crazy world out there. They're all lying to you.

Analysis: WRONG!

Analysis: Palin's words carry racial tinge

By claiming that Democrat Barack Obama is "palling around with terrorists" and doesn't see the U.S. like other Americans, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin targeted key goals for a faltering campaign.

And though she may have scored a political hit each time, her attack was unsubstantiated and carried a racially tinged subtext that John McCain himself may come to regret.

Wrong on both counts. Obama's friendship with Bill Ayers is not unsubstantiated, it's very much substantiated. It's a fact. You can put whatever weight on that fact as you like but it's still a fact. What does this have to do with race? Nothing. Zero. Zip. Nada.

As far as not seeing the U.S. like other Americans, well, he doesn't see America like I do. He doesn't see America like a lot of people I know. These people are generally on the conservative side. I also know many liberals and they see America more like Obama sees it. It's an ideological difference. This also has nothing to do with race.

It's called biased, unprofessional analysis. Or AP for short.

Obama's poems show real talent level

Jack Cashill has been researching Obama's memoirs and is of the opinion that he hasn't written them himself. His evidence suggests Bill Ayers actually wrote "Dreams From My Father."

But then somehow, those few years later, this 33 year-old amateur with no paper trail beyond a hack legal note and a poem about fig-stomping apes produced what Time magazine has called – with a straight face – "the best-written memoir ever produced by an American politician."

Bristol City Council is urging people to leave their sheds open because padlocks could lead to thieves forcing their way through doors and windows of the council-owned sheds to steal garden equipment.

They've completely given up on stopping crime? Why stop at sheds? Don't lock your doors or windows in your house and just keep your car keys in the ignition of your unlocked car. Think of the money you'll save!

Actually, it's worse than that. These sheds are owned by the council, so what they are saying is, "We don't care if you lose all your garden tools as long as the council doesn't have to pay to have the sheds repaired." Basically, "We don't care about you."

Biden Instills Confidence by Knowing What He's Talking About

No, not really.

Ann Coulter's latest:

While Gov. Sarah Palin is being grilled on her position on mark-to-market accounting rules, the press can't bother to ask Joe Biden if he could give us a ballpark estimate on when Franklin D. Roosevelt was president -- or maybe take a stab at guessing the decade when televisions were first available to the public.

Being interviewed by Katie Couric on the "CBS Evening News," Biden said: "When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'"

For those of you who aren't hard-core history buffs, Biden not only named the wrong president during the 1929 stock market crash, he also claimed a president who wasn't president during the stock market crash went on TV before Americans had TVs.

Other than that, the statement holds up pretty well.
